When I attempt to add the <httpProtocols> sections into the <system.web> I get
Parser Error Message: Unrecognized configuration section system.web/httpProtocol.
I ideally need to be able to add customHeaders through the IIS6 web.config (I however am assuming this won't work)
I have a problem using windows authentication and the authorization-tag in web.config for my asp.net application. When I host the application in IIS (both in IIS 6 and IIS 7) the authorization-tag is ignored. When I run the application in asp.net development server that comes with visual studio 2010, it works perfect.
I have created an intranet site that has a reorder list.IE8 defaults to running intranet sites in compatibility mode. My reorderlist does not like this. Basically the drag/drop function goes away.
Now, i have tried adding the <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" /> but it does not fix it. It fixes most of my issues, but not the drag/drop.If i tell the browser to NOT use compatibility mode, everything seems to work as intended, but there is no way i can force all the users to disable it.
We have a problem that in IE8 some of table rows (made by Reporting Services) are cut if compatibility mode of a browser is set to on (exactly a page is cut on bottom and left side and it is not visible). So we have to explain at every customer to disable compatibility mode. Does exist any way to display report page correctly even if a compatibility mode is on? Is this a bug?
To begin with I work on the large application, that has a WinForms client and server. Server in our case is the set of WCF services. There is one service that is responsible for authentication of users. The logic of authentication is custom and complex and authentication service uses different membership providers.
We want to protect the access to server services for non-authenticated users. The users must firstly authenticate and than use other services (users in this case are the other systems, services, WinForms client, etc.). On this basis, we decided to use the ASP.NET Url/File Authorization feature.
So, I set on the ASP.NET compatibility mode, allowed cookie in all binding configurations, added AspNetCompatibilityRequirements attribute to our services and added the followingconfigurations to config:
In the authenticate method of our authentication service I add the following code: public AuthenticationResult AuthenticateUser(string username, string password) { AuthenticationResult result = new AuthenticationResult(); result = Authenticate(username, password); if (result.IsAuthenticated) FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(username, true); return result; }
Next, I wrote the following code:
var authClient = new AuthenticationServiceClient(); var result = authClient.AuthenticateUser("user", "password"); var otherClient = new OtherServiceClient(); var temp = otherClient.DoSomething();
But after authentication I can't access to OtherServiceClient...
So, how can I share the call context between the WCF services calls? Could anybody provide some useful articles about this question?
I have a table with 3 rows, each with an ASP.NET panel with a gridview in it. For some reason, this is causing IE8 to go into compatibility view mode. If I change the table to 3 seperate divs, this works but if I use divs some functionality (i.e. max height) doesn't work as it does on tables. I've also tried 3 seperate tables but to no avail.
I changed my application to use "InProc" sessionState instead of "Off" because I need to preserve user selected language from page to page doing localization.n web.sitemap I have this line:
which before I changed sessionState to "InProc" worked as supposed to: menu item "Administrator" appeared as a menu choice only when user had logged in with admin rights. Now this menu choice is present for every user.
I'm using ASP.NET to have a panel that can expand downwards to a certain point, at which point the user can scroll within the panel, both vertically and horizontally (horizontally because one GridView has a lot of columns which would be impossible to display without horizontal scrollbars in the panel/div)Problem is, if I set the panel (asp:Panel control) that holds the GridView to have Scrollbars="Both", and have a max-height set on the panel, IE8 refreshes into compatibility mode. If I remove the max height, or have only vertical scrollbars, it works fine. Any workarounds for this?
Would adding "X-UA-Compatible: IE=EmulateIE7" as an http header to trigger IE9 to render in compatibility mode negatively affect performance on the server? I made the change today, adding it, but now some areas of our site are behaving sluggishly, though we did have a large number of changes come in overnight. I know that we can't single out this as the problem, but my boss seems to think it is.
I have a virtual folder containing an administration application, like
[URL]
which requires SSL. In the IIS manager properties for the folder, under "Authentication and access control", Anonymous Access is disabled and "Authenticated Access" is set to "Integrated Windows authentication."
When I connect to the site in Chrome, I receive two login boxes. The first is from mysite.com/alpha:443, and the second is from mysite.com/alpha:80. Firefox appears to re-send my credentials for the second box so it is never shown.
I am developing a .NET 3.5 web application. We are using some of the Microsoft Reporting tools, which are a pain but a digress, and when I deploy, I get errors when trying to load the site.
This is the error:
[Code]....
However, my web config reads:
[Code]....
I specify 9.0.0.0 in everything. The only concern I have is that the build server uses .NET 4.0 but I have specified to build with 3.5 and on my deployed server I have the 9.0.0.0 dll files for the report viewer. why the server is looking for 10 when everything says 9?

When no date parameter is submitted (i.e. date == null), date is set to DateTime.Now in the controller action and everything works like a charm, that is TextBox will use the value provided in the model. However, if date is passed in the URL (thus bound to date in the call to the index action) TextBox will NOT use the model value (which is properly parsed into a DateTime at that point) but instead use the value from ViewData.ModelState. It doesn't matter what value is set in the call to TextBox, it will be ignored completely. The only way around this behaviour is to call
Create a new website based on master pages (ASP.NET Web Site template in VS2010 [File] - [New] - [Website]). Add an ajax control toolkit accordion control on a page using master pages (Default.aspx's "Main Content" asp:content block, for instance). Add styles for the accordion control in the site.css file. The accordion control completely ignores the styles, regardless of whether they are assigned as an id or a class, inline, etc. The header and content styles are used, but the accordion control itself ignores all styles. The accordion control also ignores the ajax animationextender when placed inside an asp:content block. I haven't investigated whether there are other controls that ignore styles when used with master pages, but this is a major blow to a project that has been designed with the use of master pages. If I find more controls that ignore css styles inside of master pages it will completely sabotage the entire project and use of Microsoft's technology.
This is really frustrating. Upgraded report to Crystal 2008, and the filters on month/year are being ignored. This report is a simple cross-tab. We have a worker data table, with each row containing a date, a worker id, and various counts to be listed by worker, and then a summary for each row. The columns are the worker's name.Parameters are report month and year, so I have a group filter that month(report_date) = param month and same for year.The report does ask for the parameter input, but then ignores it and summarizes every record in the worker data across all time.So, for example, my user Frank has data in the worker table for each month from Janaury 2008 to December 2010, and he shows up when I run the report for January 2011.Prior to upgrading, the report worked great; it would filter out the records by input month and year and then summarize. I neither understand why this changed, nor the new right way to apply filters for cross-tabs.
i have an up & running site based on asp.net 4 routing everything works perfectly except for one page the dynamic route for this page is [URL] i also have a physical folder in the site named admin at first i was getting a iis error when i tired to access this page. then i discovered RouteExistingFiles=true so now the page shows up whats odd though that the sitempappath is empty as well as another sitemap-based treeview on the page so i checked the page's sitemap.currentnode , which is also empty. why? so more research showed that [URL] is always redirected to [URL] (realize the foward slash at end!)
if i search the sitemap like this SiteMap.Provider.FindSiteMapNode("~/Admin") then it returns the node . but like this SiteMap.Provider.FindSiteMapNode("~/Admin/") [-with fwd slash] it return nothing so the question is: why is "~/admin" always redirected to "~/admin/" and how do i either stop it or make the sitemap ignore final fwd slashes?
We're converting a Classic ASP site to an ASP.NET site. One function was to upload a 'template' of data in CSV format for importing into the database. There were several different record types in there (the first field always indentifies the type of data).
The task was to get the CSV into a DataTable so it could be validated (new project is to have MUCH better validation rules)
The code seemed pretty straightforward - watered down (taking out comments, Try/Catch, etc) it is as follows:
Dim da As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter Dim cn As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & strDirectory & ";" & "Extended Properties=""Text;HDR=No;FMT=Delimited;""") Dim cd As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand("SELECT * FROM " & strCSVFilename, cn) cn.Open() da.SelectCommand = cd da.Fill(dtData)
The DataTable (dtData) is populated, but only starting with the second line of the CSV file DESPITE the fact that "HDR=No" is in the connection string. What am I missing here?
i have a strange problem: The IE ignores the height property of my listbox.The listbox is filled dynamic with data and then sets the height to a fixed height.
[Code]....
Thats how the listbox is filled.In the aspx-file the listbox looks like that:
[Code]....
In Firefox and Chrome it works without problems...
I'm developing one web app and for that i need to use UNICODE connect in asp.net,my requirement is end user can enter text in any Indian language like Marathi,Hindi,Gujarati etc.for e.g like "orkut" has an option that user can write text in Hindi .How can i do this in asp.net.
I have a very simple CustomValidator control as follows:
[Code]....
If I use this on a basic aspx page as follows:
[Code]....
When I press Button1, I would expect the CustomValidator to fire only if there is a value in TextBox1.Instead, the CustomValidator is ALWAYS fired. Even adding ValidateEmptyText="false" to the validator does nothing to change this behaviour.What am I missing from my control implementation that is causing this?
