In VS2008 source view, the left side object dropdown is missing "Server Objects & Events", and "Server Code". I would like to know how to enable these to be visible.
The controls on the page do contain runat="server".
Using in-line code in VS 2010 RC and I can't get the "server objects and Events" drop down to show up.
Not sure if this is a bug or what...in VS 2005 / 2008 it would just appear at the top of in-line code files. I've checked the options/settings menus and haven't found any way to enable it.
I have recently updated from web developer 2008 express to 2010 and notice that the drop down for server objects & events that is included in the 2008 edition does not seem to exist in this edition. I have tried all the settings and switched on Experts settings and imported all the expert settings but to no avail. Is there a different way to select events in 2010 version (I was using it to import procedures mainly for validation).
I know how to bind a simple objects to a dropdown list. However I am having problems binding my objects which contains sub objects to the control.i.e. with simple object i just do ddl.DataValueField = "myproperty" with my objects they contains sub objects which i want to bind. I have tried ddl.DataValueField = "sub-object.myproperty" which doesnt work.
I have a full calender implemented from [URL] It looks to be working fine...However, if in week view sometimes the events are not been seen on Saturday and Sundays. If you view in month view they are there...
I have a usercontrol (ascx) with a DropDownList placed on a MasterPage. It has AutoPostBack=true. I created a SelectedIndexChanged event for the dropdown on the usercontrol, but it does not fire when seleted item changes. The PostBack fires and both current page as well as MasterPage are reloaded but the SelectedIndexChanged is not fired. How can this event be trapped?
I added a Input (Text) control in my web form and turned it into an HTML server control so its an instance of HtmlInputText class.
If I double click on the control It only adds a OnClick event handler method inside the script tags in the HTML doc of the web form but how to I get to handle its Serverchange event exactly? does VS.net 2008 has no ability to auto wire up the event to the control, do I have to manually wire up the event handler?
I am use the new ASP.NET MVC 2 and Entity Framework, but when I try to create a new view with strongly-typed option selected, the entity objects is not appears at dropdown and I cannot use the view creation wizard. I recompile the solution, but still not appears yet. Have any workaround that I forgot to do to enable the entities to be displayed at dropdownlist ?
I have created a crystal report object that i called CrystalReport1 in a website. now i am trying to retrieve it in code using the following code:
dim myRpt as new .......
but intellisence wont retrieve the crystal report for me. the funny thing is when i create a WEBAPPLICATION as opposed to a WEBSITE i am able to retrieve it.
I have a big form wrapped in an updatepanel (for other reasons). Inside this form is a section that needs to have it's own asynchronous postback -- there is a cascading dropdown and, based on the selections, you can add a product to a list. Once that list is populated, it can be submitted with the rest of the form.
So in this little section I have :
A Label for testing the button event (the label gets updated)5 Cascading Dropdowns (which are working fine)A button The button event changes the label text. If I click the button right away, it updates the label as expected. However, if I click the button *after* doing any selections on the Cascading Dropdowns, the label does not get updated. Things I have tried:
Removing the updatepanel surrounding the form -- yes, then the event gets fired, but I need it all in the updatepanel.Adding UpdateMode=Conditional -- no changeAdding an update panel just around this section -- no changeAdding Triggers either to the big updatepanel or to one just around this section -- no change Thoughts?
I'm kinda new to web services and want to make sure I am doing things correctly.
I have a custom object which has sub objects as well. (let's say Company object, sub object is collection of Employee objects)
I want the web service to return a collection of Company objects. Do I make the service return a Dataset and custom generate a dataset with datatables representing the different objects?
What is the best way to do this? I tried to just serialize it, but that doesn't seem to work either.
I tried this dll
[URL]
But the output XML doesn't seem to include the sub object.
Just I started learning MVC pattern, of course i am learning it from Microsoft's website.Just i want to gather quiz information from the experts. My understanding is (correct me then and there)
1 ) MVC does not support server side events, but supports client side events. If it supports client side events, I need html page with jQuery/Javascript (view), but most of the example I absorbed is to display the information(model) in view, I did not see any client side event handling happens in view.
2) Except ViewState and controlState, MVC supports Sessions, Application State management, Cache management.
3) When request goes to MVC engine, the routing module routes the request that is picked up by the controller. The controller in executes the appropriate action and returns the appropriate view.
I found some code on the web and it threw me off. Look at the code below. You will notice only when the Hits == 1, does the cache get added. After that, the cache object isn't updated. It begs the question, does the object when updated, update the cache as well automatically? The answer here would make me remove some code in some of my classes.
if a asp.net web site project is created using code behind as C# language then the Page and its controls events are not shown in the DropDown at top of the editable area in Visual Studio. But contrary to this if code behind is VB.NET then in the DropDown all Page events and its controls events are shown.
Is the same possible with code behind as C# language ?
I used Object Test Bench to test my classes in VS 2008 professional edition . Right click on Class name and then selected create instance ,then its Constructor, there comes a dialog box, that just gives a message and a TextBox field is present there, i filled that field with any name and clicked OK.Then error message comes that "Create Instance Failed" and its error code is "0x80004005" . What's this ? How to instantiate object of my classes ?
But with the same procedure i can create object in WPF applications. What is problem with asp.net ?
Im working in VWD and currently building a site with html and css. When I try to move some of the objects (DIV, P etc) that ar set with absolute positioning, other objects on the page are moved to the right of my main content div.
I have a List of complex objects containing other objects within that I give as the data source to a gridview.(currently I'm using BoundFields for the columns). I need to bind data to the columns from the objects within at run time. How can this be done?
I created a class library: PRTreatmentReviews. I created a reference for the class library on the website. I checked the property pages and the reference to the class is there. I put objectdatasource on a page and tried to pick up the PRTreatmentReviews class but it's not there? The Class
I'm looking for a way to intercept the ASP.NET processing pipeline in such a way to be able to register event handlers to all events on the Page class. The reason is, I need to maintain a session-bound instance of a component that needs to be notified of all important Page events, starting from OnPreInit.
There's an arbitrary number of Page descendants in the application, which are not under my control. Hence I cannot use an approach like using a single custom descendant, that would notify the session-bound component, as a base class for all pages in the web application.
I don't think creating a custom IHttpHandler or IHttpModule implementation would solve the problem. Also note I cannot create a custom HttpApplication descendant.
I'm trying to better understand the life cycle of an object in the .Net framework. My companies Intranet has some custom classes that were written by a vendor that I'm trying to make some modifications to. Specifically I want to set some variables & hashtables to null when use of the object is done. For now I have this in the dispose event.
Is there any info you can point to that would be good reading on the life cycle of an object in the .Net framework? I.e. what order do the events fire in? OnInit, Initialize, finalize Dispose, etc. I have the ASP.net page lifecycle but I'm not looking for that.
I am trying to incorporate AJAX in my web project for the first time and it isn't working. I don't know how to instantiate a class once and use AJAX to update the dataset numerous times before updating the database changes using a postback.
My project is to learn AJAX with a class object. Clicking the button is supposed to increment a count by one using a class to store the count. Here is my class:
[Code]....
Here is my HTML code:
[Code]....
And here are my button click event code snippets:
[Code]....
My problem is that as I step through the code (after clicking on the second button) it instantiates a new class object each time which returns a value of 2 every time. I have tried to fix the problem by putting my counter class instantiation in the pageload event using "If Not IsPostBack Then ..." but my probem there is that the button click event block of code would not recognize the cCount class - it put the blue lines under the cCount
My goal is to have the class object available to multiple events in the code behind: especially using AJAX to build records in one of my DataSet tables Does anyone know how to handle this?
I have a login.ascx control with three controls (LoginName, Password and A Button) , I want to rase a click event on this button from .aspx page because some restriction is there so that I am unable to write any code on .ascx page.
I have assigned value on login name and password from .aspx onload events. but I an facing problem while rasing event on button.
I am showing code that I have written on .aspx page that I have putten onload section.
What I'm trying to do is rather basic, but I might have my facts mixed up. I have a details page that has a custom class as it's Model. The custom class uses 2 custom objects with yet another custom object a property of one of the 2. The details page outputs a fair amount of information, but allows the user to post a comment. When the user clicks the post button, the page gets posted to a Details action that looks something like this:
[AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Details(VideoDetailModel vidAndComment) { ....} [Code]....
The only fields on the form that is posted are CommentText and VideoId. Here is what the VideoDetailModel looks like.
public class VideoDetailModel { public VideoDetailModel() { [Code].... I suppose if I added more form fields for the properties I need, they would get posted, but I only need 1 form entry field for the CommentText. If I could get the same Model objects value that were sent to the page to post with the page, it looks like the solution is rather simple. I think using the RenderPartial in the middle of a form is problematic somehow to how the form gets written in html. I can't really put my finger on why things went bonkers, but if I do my RenderPartials before my form and then begin my form with the text entry field and the hidden VideoId, the default ModelBinder works just fine. I was beginning the form, writing the hidden VideoId, rendering several partial views, create my CommentText field, and then closed the form out. The CommentText field would get bound just fine. The hidden VideoId would not. Maybe I missed a rule somewhere about using RenderPartial.
For completeness, the partial view I was rendering took a Comment object and just wrote out it's CommentText data. Several of these objects would exist for a single Video object. All of this data was in a custom type and passed into the View (the main view) as it's Model. This partial view did not have a form and did not have any data entry fields.
