I am tasked with customizing a third-party web application. Since the application is updated (ie new files are copied over the existing files) several times a year, I was hoping that I could put my custom code in separate files -- sort of like having asecond code-behind file for each page that is modified.
I decided to use jquery validations because asp.net validation controls are so crazy inside the update panel.But I need to plase the error messages in the specified div whose class is putmehere ! I am unable to do that. here is my code;
Currently, I have many controls and objects such as Chart1 of mschart as part of the public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page.
At the bottom, I've created a second class that is not part of the _Default webform class. How can I access the webform controls from this second class?
I am getting a serialization error trying to use Session State Server instead of InProd. However, I can't figure out what is causing the error in session. I was given some code to add to the page to loop through the session object and figure out if each item in it is serializable. My problem is I don't know where to place the code in the ASP.NET page. In tracing through the code, the error just appears after steping through objects outside of the page and not when setting session. There must be some place that I can place the code on the page that is after all session objects are set but before the page will error. Where would that be?

I want to find a place to put my Google Analytics code in my ASP.NET web application. I would like to place it somewhere once and not have to copy and paste the code into multiple files. Is there somewhere that I could inject it that I would only have to include it once and all pages would be effected? I am not using MasterPages unfortunately.
I wish to place a sub in the code behind of my master page, that will be used to assign variables used in the content pages based on query string values. I would like to see advice on general syntax as it relates to the relationship between master pages and their content pages.I would much rather pursue this route as opposed to repeating the same code on every content page.
I have a relatively simple page that will do most of its operations on the client side using Javascript or JQuery. However, initially I do need to retrieve some data from the DB server based on QueryString parameters.
I plan on passing this data in the form of a JSON string to the script by an old-fashioned ASP manner ( var severData = <%=MyPublicData %>) block where MyPublicData is defined in CodeBehind as:
Public string MyPublicData;
The question is, which event in the ASP.NET page lifecycle is the best for this? Page_Init ? Page_Load? Also, is it worth the effort to do this in ASP.NET MVC. I did look at this possiblity but it seemed a little too much for a simple page like this where I do more 90% of the work on the client.
I have a class (name PageBase) that is inhariting System .Web.UI .Page and all my .aspx page behind classes are inhariting this class. This way I have put some common things in PageBase class.
For showing errors I want to put showMessage funtion in PageBase as well so that I may have not put it in every page and it will easy to manage this way.
Probem is that how PageBase class will access a control which is in aspx page in its child class (child class of PageBase) .
I dont want to pass control as argument to function in parent class, is ther any other way ?
etc., which is placed inside of an ItemTemplate inside of a TemplateColumn. In the CodeBehind page I will bind a value to the OrderXml field, which occasionally is NULL.
For performance reasons, I would like to put some code in javascript but am concerned that a user may pick up some proprietary formulas. Is it even possible to hide it or scramble it to the user?
I am new to programming and i have one project in which i want to replace the DLL files and want to place the actual code. I have all the code files. how to this?
My hosting provider just changed the trust level to medium but I cant figureout where to place the configuration on the web.config file! I have spent hours trying to figureout with no luck. here my web.config file
When I got ot File>New File, and Choose a new webform, it creates a "flat" web form. That webform does not create a default code behind page, and it does not create a default Auto-Generated Designer-behind page.
I migrating a large asp.net webform site to MVC. I want to mix match old asp.net web form and asp.net mvc together for sometime and gradually convert the webform model to pure mvc model.
So i copied all aspx/ascx files from the old webform site to my mvc project. Now when i compile, i get build error. Code behind files can not find any server controls inside their aspx pages.
I can solve this problem by adding a desinger.cs file for each of the aspx,ascx file but that simply is not viable for me since i am dealing with hundreds of aspx pages and user controls and i can not afford to manually add a designer file for each of them.
After going through few asp.net 2.0 books surfacially, I want to accomplish most of the task using c# code and Sql database.
1.we can access and update data using various ways like using sqldatasource code, data reader,command object,dataset,datatable etc.But which one to use in which situation?I am very confused.what do you prefer most,why?
2. How to code professional way? I mean how to separate code using different classes and how to link all togerther?
3.I want to design a webform for entering/editing user input using c# code and use presentation control like gridview and detailsview for viewing,paging and sorting only.Is this possible?
I am displaying a money values in a gridview. Is possible to use inline code to set the decimal places to two? Would like to do it inline instead of in the C# code behind if possible. Database table column [Rate] is datatype money.
to manually (via code) add a row to a GridView and then set it in edit mode immediately? I know how to set a row in edit mode via simply doing the following:
[Code]....
The GridView is currently binded to a generic list.
