I have data in ParamList (from SQL reporting services database)which I want to display in a GridView. as ParameterName and VAlue. I am able to retrieve the parameters but can't figure out how to read them into ArrayList (or whatever method you coud suggest) and then bind to grid. Final grid should be like this-
ParameterName ParameterValue
Year 1011
Number1 0011
Number2 0101
Number3 0201
Here is the code I'm trying to figure out-
Dim intCount As Integer
Dim strparam As String
Dim strparam1 As String
Dim varResult As Object
Dim ParamList as string
ParamList = "Year=1011&Number1=0011&Number2=0101&Number3=0201"
varResult = Split(ParamList, "&")
Dim arrList As New ArrayList()
'loop through array and retrieve parms
For intCount = 0 To UBound(varResult)
varParam = Split(varResult(intCount), "=")
strparam1 = UCase(varParam(0))
strparam = varParam(1)
arrList = ???
Next
'and then display tsi data into a grid.
GridViewParams.DataSource = arrList

I am trying to consume an array of strings from a webservice that I wrote. I keep getting the error: "System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I know I am doing some thing wrong at an extremely basic level, but it's not coming to me.
I have tried adding New but get the error that you can't declare arrays with New
Here is the dummed down webservice method:<WebMethod( _
Description:="Testing ")> _
Public Function TestArray(ByVal Address1 As String, ByVal zip As String) As String()
Dim strTest(4) As String
strTest(0) = "It's"
strTest(1) = "a"
strTest(2) = "great"
strTest(3) = "day"
Return strTest
End Function
<--Here is the call that generates the null reference error-->
Private Sub FindAddress()
Dim svc As ws.Service
Dim strAddresses() As String
strAddresses = svc.TestArray(txtAddress.Text, txtZip.Text)
End Sub

I am trying to create a dynamic table that is being built based on the value of a search text box. The Table will have probably 6 columns of 20(max) rows.
My problem is I can't figure out how to return the data from the web-service to the JS function in a way that will allow me to extract the data that I need.
Here is the web-service method I have currently:

.I am using VS2010 Ultimate in an out of the box HelloWorld MVC2 ProjectI am using JQuery 1.4.1I have the following code in my View:
function TestStringArray() {
var stringArray = new Array();
stringArray[0] = "item1";
[code]...
Forgetting my controller actually needs to return a Json result (I have a break on the return View() line), the values parameter is null. When I pass in a single string (change the type from List<String> to String in the controller, pass in a single string value from the View), it works fine. Looking at Fiddler, the array is passing the multiple values.I did some research and people are suggesting JSON.Stringify ion the JSON2 library, the JSON.NEt library, etc... Do I really need extra libraries? Microsoft didn't think of this scenario for out of the box? I assume the problem is any kind of complex type.

I would to know how to pass variables. I have a variable in javascript but I dont know how to pass it to a textbox. I have read it is so easy using ajax, but I dont know how to use it. I believed this was just for not to have reload. Well, then how do I do it? I read I must use get and post, but I dont know how to use it.. for example I have the code:
function guardar() {
var completo = "hola mundo";
}
How do I get the variable completo to pass it in a textbox?

I now have two asp.net pages. When I click on a link on page A, I open the other one (let's call it page B). When I do this, I want to send some information from Page A to Page B in the form of an array of strings. This array is different depending on what link I follow on Page A.
I know I could send this information via the URL with the ?string1=bla1&string2=bla2 etc., but I don't want it that way, as it can get complicated if there are too many strings in the array.
I think there is something similar, like a POST in PHP, but how would that be in ASP?

I am using the webservice method of populating my radtreeview as it was described as the most efficient way to load large amounts of data. So the signature of my webservice method is:
[WebMethod]
public RadTreeNodeData[] WebServiceMethodName(RadTreeNodeData node, object context)
However, the nodes that I am populating the tree with depend on the security access of the user that is logged in to my application..Is it possible to pass additional parameters to the webservice method? Or must I use a ServerSideCallBack method to populate the tree? I am hoping that I can still use the webservices functionality... I would like to pass a signature like this to my webservice method:
[WebMethod]
public RadTreeNodeData[] WebServiceMethodName(RadTreeNodeData node, object context, object userSession)

I'm looking for a way to define and send a JSON object array. I've figured out how to define a single JSON object, turn it into a string and send it, but what about an array of this type? Probably something simple I'm overlooking...
var myColumnSetting = { "ColumnName": name,
"ColumnIndex": index
}
convert it to a string
var myJSONText = JSON.stringify(myColumnSetting, false);

I have a webservice method which needs to accept SOAP as input parameter. I've worked webservices between .NET clients but I've never worked using raw SOAP so I don't know what to do. The format of the input like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<S:Envelope xmlns:S = "[URL]/">
<S:Body>
<ns2:RemoteService xmlns:ns2 = "some.ns.url">
<RemoteServiceInput>
<param1>123</param1>
<param2>Asd Qwe</param2>
<param3 xsi:nil = "true" xmlns:xsi = "[URL]"/>
</RemoteServiceInput>
</ns2:RemoteService >
</S:Body>
</S:Envelope>
How should my method input be to accept this SOAP as parameter?

I need to send 4 double values to a webservice. Which is the best way to send. Array or Arraylist. I read some where that Arraylist has issues to serialize.I am using the following code on the client .aspx page to construct the arraylist.
Code:
ArrayList CapPlan = new ArrayList();
CapPlan .Add(Convert.ToDouble(TextBox1.Text));
CapPlan .Add(Convert.ToDouble(TextBox2.Text));
CapPlan .Add(Convert.ToDouble(TextBox3.Text));
CapPlan .Add(Convert.ToDouble(TextBox4.Text));
After this arraylist CapPlan is constructed, what would be the syntax to send this arraylist to a webmethod?
DataSet dataSetCapitalPlan = clientProxyobject.CapStock(CapPlan.ToArray(double));
And on the webservice side how can I receive this arraylist that was sent?
[WebMethod]
public DataSet CapStock(string As_of_Date, Array CapPlan)
{
}

Every morning we send out an email with a text file attached. This is a manual process so I am automating it.I am using an internal mail web service. Its last two parameters are a byte array which is the file contents and a string which is the file name. I passed (...gbytes, "test.txt") and the only thing wrong with it is text.txt is XML. I want it to be text (csv is fine because there is actually four columns that come from a datatable).So I am assuming what's making it XML is this code:
Code:
System.IO.MemoryStream stream = new System.IO.MemoryStream();
System.Runtime.Serialization.IFormatter formatter = new System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.BinaryFormatter();
formatter.Serialize(stream, ds.Tables[0]);
gbytes = stream.GetBuffer();
I am trying to search the Internet for how to convert a datatable to a byte array, but I can't find how to have it be text instead of XML. Also, another parameter our WS takes is a flag to say if it's XML, and I am setting this to false.

to be able to send a XmlSerializer class (which is generated obvious in remote C# application) over a WebService that will then deserialize it into a class. (I didnt know it its possible either)
XmlSerializer mySerializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(SystemInfo));
StreamWriter myWriter = new StreamWriter(textBox1.Text);
mySerializer.Serialize(myWriter, sysinfo);
[WebMethod]
public void Reports(XmlSerializer xmlSerializer)
