is there a way to define a single long string with line breaks within the string definition code?
my string is somethign like this:
string sql = "SELECT
a.bg_user_56 AS Project,
a.bg_user_60 AS SubSystem,
a.BG_USER_81 AS AssignedToUserName,
a.bg_responsible AS AssignedTo,
FROM mytable"
I am developing a asp.net web application, i have a string (with a value in it from a database), with multiple lines that i put in a TextBox with mulitline type. (textarea)
Now the problem is, that in the string are multiple lines, with much empty space. so i want the remove only the double linebreaks.
example of my textbox:
{empty} {empty} 'This is some text in the textbox on line 3 'some text on line 4 {empty} 'some text on line 6 {empty} {empty} 'some text on line 9 {empty}
now somehow i want to remove line 1 and 2, and line 7 and 8
I would like to read from a long string and just output the first 3 paragraphs of the string. How do I achieve this? I wanted to use this code to show (n) number of words but I have since changed to paragraphs.
In my app, I use the built-in membership for managing security. If I log into my app using my iPad or iPhone, I see some long string preceding the ReturnUrl. Here's an example of what it looks like: [URL] At that point, I'm at where I wanted to go but I'm logged off. If I try to go to another secure page, I have to log in again. And the cycle starts all over again.
My SelectCommand string in my asp:SqlDataSource is very long. Is there a way I can chop it up into different strings on several newlines to make it more readable?
I have a large(ish) text-box on my page that needs to hold a website URL. The text-box is reasonably wide however most URLs will not fit in on a single line. I want the website address to wrap a single line like this:
[URL]
However what my textbox is doing is this:
[URL]
Does anyone know how to automatically wrap a string that does not contain line feeds / white space? (Yes - Wrap is set to true!)
In my project one of scenario demands passing querystring values more than 256 chars @ a time ...I tried it but after 256 chars its trunacting all other chars. workaround or various ways for passing more than 256 chars through querystring.
I have a htmlarea (Jquery plugin) where I need to accept longer strings than 2048 which seams to be the limit. I don't have a clue where to look. It's an MVC app and here are the relevant code:
HTML:
<div id="PageTextDialog" title="Ändra texten på sidan" style="display: none"> <% Using Html.BeginForm %> <%: Html.TextAreaFor(Function(model) model.PageText, 30, 30, New With {.style = "width:800px;"})%> <% End Using%> <button id="SavePageText">Spara</button> </div>
JScript:
$(function () { function SaveText(pageID, htmlText) { var retvalue = false; $.ajax({ async: false,
I know that it is basic questions, but I am stuck here.
I have TableOne have fields: USERNAME, PID, GID, TID, SID, NEWSID. I need to write query string to check if those value is already in the table. If not, insert those value to the table.
No problem there, but when I want to display the saved data into a multiline textbox (for editing) i can't get the linebreak to display.
I've tried these option, but nothing seems to work:
- txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", environment.newline) ' This displays some empty spaces but no new lines - txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", vbcrlf) ' same result - txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", vbnewline) ' same result - txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", " ") ' This display the string like "blabla blibli" but no new lines - txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", " ") ' same result - txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", " ") ' same result
I've developed a web application to accept video file uploads and then pass them to a backend service on an external server. The application runs without error on the visual studio debugging webserver, but once on a production iis 6 or 7 server, yields a timeout error at about a consistent amount of time into handling a large upload. Specifically, it errors in the middle of transferring the video file to the external server, once the application has successfully received it from the client. I'm aware of several timeouts to be configured related to the problem, and have done so. The application's web config has been tested with one or both of the following settings
<system.web> <httpRuntime executionTimeout="9999999" maxRequestLength="2048000" /> </system.web> and <configuration> <location path="default.aspx"> (the page at issue that's timing out) <system.web> <httpRuntime executionTimeout="9999999" maxRequestLength="2048000" /> </system.web> </location> </configuration>
And within the initialization of the webrequest made to the external server to send the video received from the client browser:
So with the execution time limits on both the webform as a whole and the connection made to the external server, I'm at a loss for what timeout is left unconfigured, or how to determine such, when I continue to get the following error: Unexpected error executing Brightcove Upload:...........................
I have a css file which I want to read from disk and in that content I want to find and replace all linebreaks (do I look for vbCrlf or ...?)
Public Shared Function GetFileContents(ByVal FullFilename As String) As String Dim filecontents As String = "" If File.Exists(FullFilename) Then Dim objStreamReader As StreamReader objStreamReader = File.OpenText(FullFilename) filecontents = objStreamReader.ReadToEnd() objStreamReader.Close() End If Return filecontents End Function
So in the returned variable "filecontents" I want to find and replace any linebreaks.
On one screen I have the user enter some stuff in a multiline textbox, and then save it to db. On another screen I make an html summary report which includes a column for that multiline textbox data. When the report is rendered, the column with mutiline textbox data doesn't seem to understand the line breaks in the text, and just happily runs on until the end of the column width, wrapping the text wherever it might be at the moment.
When I stop at a breakpoint in visual studio and look at the data with the visualizer, it comes up formatted properly with the line breaks. So I guess it's really just the html rendering that's killing me. So how can I get linebreaks in database text data to render as linebreaks in the generated html report row?
Example of the html generation code I'm using for the column with possible linebreaks (it all takes place within the usual while reader.read(), etc.:
How to set the selected value for this Dropdownlist box?
<%=p.MessageType%>.. this is the value I am getting from database so that In my Grid what ever the Value coming form database it will show in the Dropdownlistbox on the Grid now its showing me as Default value P even Database value B
I like to handle and compare a lot of date times in my repeater even I have to work more than one time with the same.
It's a bit ugly, to cast everywhere the Eval("MyDate") like ((DateTime)Eval("MyDate")) to substract 2 datetimes or to compare it, even if you have to do this more than in one operation.
I thought of saving all the evals in a var at start of the repeater?
where should commonly used utility functions (to be used in multiple .aspx files) be coded? I currently have these common funcs in an .ascx user control that's referenced in each .aspx file.
I want client access a data center but without use database , so I want my web app can retain a global or Application session variable, that contains the data, every client can access the same data... I am try to declare in golabl, but seem it only can store String but others ..
to define a variable/property of more than one type. Let's say i want a property TextWebControl that is a WebControl and also implements Web.UI.ITextControl(f.e. like a TextBox or Label). But i don't want to enforce that it is a TextBox or Label, but only one that inherits from WebControl and also implements ITextControl so that it also would work with controls added in future releases of .Net-Framework.
.Net-Framework 4.0
Edit: I have retagged the question and added VB.Net because it's my default language. Normally it's no problem for me to understand C# also, but i must admit that it's difficult to translate generic stuff to VB.Net without experiences and it's also better documentated in C# than in VB. So i would appreciate(and aceept) a working example of a VB.net generic type of ITextControl/WebControl.
From Marc's answer i understand that i need a generic class. But how do i instantiate it in SomeClass? This won't compile:
Class SomeClass Public Property info As InfoControl(Of WebControl, ITextControl) End Class
