MVC :: Handling Unauthorized Page User Requests By Displaying A NoAccess Page?

Apr 12, 2010

I have implemented a custom ErrorController with NoAccess Action returning the View "~/Error/NoAccess" (not inside the Shared folder).

I have also modified the web.config file and add a custom error "<error statusCode="403" redirect="~/Error/NoAccess" />" node.

Each time i enter to an anauthorized page, i get redirected to the logon page (even though i am already logged on). I would to modify the default asp.net mvc authorization functionality and each time a user tries to enter a page that is not authorized to get an "NoAccess" page instead of redirecting to the login page.

Security :: Displaying The Name Of A Logged On User On The Index Page?

Feb 9, 2011

this is basically to show a welcome message [welcome user]on the index page after login in as a registered user of my site. i can achieve this with session but i really want to see this work. i read it in a book. it is not working as i want instead it is displaying my pc's name, instead of showing welcome for the current loggrd in user. put into consideraton that i programmatically created my login controls, my database on sqlserver myself, without asp.net custom login controls.

//this is the label that shows the welcome text
{welcomeLbl.Text = "you are welcome, ";
//user.identity.name+"."; this is suppose to display the name of the current logged in user
welcomeLbl.Text += User.Identity.Name + ".";}

C# - .net Master Page Not Executing?

Aug 10, 2010

I have a master page, and a content page.

The master page however doesn't appear to be executing any of the page load code I have defined, when I build it I get no errors or warnings.

Here is my master admin page:

<%@ Master Language="C#" %>

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML
1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd">[code].....

Content displays as expected, but none of the menu links display when they did when the code was all on a seperate page.

How To Stop The Whole Page From Executing Again When Doing A Postback

Sep 27, 2010

firstly i am not really an ASP.Net developer but i do work in C#.

Anyway one of the application that i develop has an ASP.Net section and i need to amend it.

I want to add a Checkbox which when Checked by the User will set a Session variable.

This Session variable will then be accessed on another page where it will include/disclude some SQL and therefore change the behaviour of a Search.

So i have 2 Pages - Page1 that has the Checkbox on it -

Code Inside Page Load Not Executing

Sep 2, 2010

I am beginner to .Net development, so i am looking for a favour.

Question 1 :
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
txtUserName.Text = "Focus";
txtUserName.Focus();
}

I am unable to get focus to my textbox

Question 2 :
I made javascript code for client side validation.
function loginjs()
{
if(document.getElementById('txtUserName').value.length==0)
alert("UserName cannot be blank");
else if(document.getElementById('txtPassword').value.length==0)
alert("Password cannot be blank");
}

this code executes but it is not stopping further code execution. I mean it is only alerts but in addition to that i need to stop further execution.

Web Forms :: Executing A Statement When Page Is Completely Loaded?

Jan 27, 2011

I have a page which includes serveral gridviews, pulling out data from my datasources. At this stage, the parameters are set withing the page, however it will use a querystring at the end of the url. Once the page is loaded, i then have an Email function calling a HTML reader, which basically captures the content of the page and pushes to the body of the email and then emails it out.

The issue i am having is where to place this stagement. I have tried to insert the email function in the Page (load complete) event, but it still seems to send out over 20 emails, which to me, means that the page hasnt finished? loading and is constantly calling the email function.

At this stage, i need this page to load .. i cant think of any other way, i can get the data sent to an email without the interim medium; the page.

Web Forms :: Checking HTTPS On Page Load And Executing Condition?

Oct 13, 2010

In Global I have the following code that redirects the page to use HTTPS. I also have a SPROC that adds a record when a user visits a page. When a user visits a page, the SPROC is adding a record for the HTTP and then another record using the HTTPS. I'm not sure how to handle just adding one record. Is there something to add to the SPROC that will delete one of the records or should I do a code behind on an aspx page that executes the SPROC "IF" the page starts with HTTPS? HOw would I set up the condition to check for the HTTPS?

Displaying Data Via User Generated SQL At Runtime?

Feb 7, 2011

I have a Winforms app which provides the ability for users to create their own reports. At its simplest they design the query which gets encrypted and saved into a database.

The ability to view these reports via the web as now come upon us.

What is the best way to handle this? Ideally I want to use MVC but there will be no model or viewmodel because these queries can return data for any table across the application and so I cannot have hardcoded propeties etc. Obviously I have access to the SQL to execute it.

I wonder if tradtional ASP.Net may perform better in this scenario ie/execute the SQL and put it in a DataTable but was hoping to get some thoughts from the community.

Displaying Data Conditionally Within A User Control?

Feb 3, 2010

Within an ASP.NET user control I have the line:

<div>Web: <a href="<%# Eval("Web") %>"><%# Eval("Web") %></a></div>

I'd like to change it so this HTML is only rendered if Web has a value.

I've tried wrapping String.IsNullOrEmpty(Eval("Web") as string) in server side script but Eval can only be used inside a "binding" tag.

What is the best way to do this?
