I have a user control written in C# in a Telerik ajaxified page. I wrote a context menu using RadContextMenu and everything works fine except one of my menu items is "refresh". How can I refresh my user control from javascript? Basically it needs to some how force the TelerikAjaxManager to refresh my control.

I have a page with several asp buttons defined on a Master Page. I only wish these buttons to be activated when they are selected by the mouse click. I have one button on the content of the form, that is the button I want to execute if the user hits enter and it is selected or they use the mouse. So in a nutshell. how do I stop the buttons on the master page from executing unless the user mouses them?
View 1 RepliesI don't think I understand fully how ASP.NET does inheritance of controls.I have a user control, ucBase, which has an asp.net label in the ascx file. Code behind references the label and it works fine during run time if the control is not a parent for another user parent.
If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically.What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?

without having to resort to server side code. Is there a way to do this in your own custom user controls without too much work?UPDATE: I was going to implement show and hide methods: although setting display to none would probably work just fine, they would prefer an explicit method. I know that the ajax control toolkit controls have a set_visible method. Do user controls get this too?

In internet explorer dispose method is invoked every time user leaves the page, even when closing the browser. But not in chrome, its invoked by refreshing the page but not by closing the tab or window. Do you know how to achieve this?
I am using following server side code to save the data from ASP.NET Control toolkit Editor to the database It follows with the HTML Code The problem is that, data is saved successfully. But it is saved twice. Main problem is this server side event is fired twice. How can i prevent it from firing twice?

I am making updatable pages for my website. I am new to asp.net so I want to find the best method to pull one record from the database. The record will consist of page name and page text. I have test information set up in the database which works of an ID and have constructed a database connection. But I want to use a database control which willl have minimum overhead for pulling out just one record. I won't require any features such as editing or pagination. I was thiking of using the data repeater.

View 1 RepliesI need to configure a property of a custom control I wrote, specifically before the control calls OnInit. If I assign it as part of the ASPX file, it naturally works, but if I instead move the assignment to different parts of the code-behind, it will throw an error for having an empty and invalid value. The following is what it looks like when functional in the ASPX page.

The property in question is FilterString, which is just a simple string. It should be noted as well that the FieldName property (inheritted from the control's base class "BaseFieldControl") would also throw an error if it is not initialized, but if I set FieldName in the code behind's OnInit method, it works correctly. FilterString is not so, it won't actually be assigned. So I know that some methods for certain properties will work for setting the property's value, but it won't always work. I tried placing it in OnPreInit as well, to no avail.
I am taking a dynamic assignment approach because the functionality of this page needs to be replicated for a number of different lists, and the FilterString and FieldName properties will differ in every case. Rather than write half a dozen mostly-identical aspx pages all with the same code behind but differing just in what those two properties are, I figured it would be wiser to use the page's query string and some derived parameters to set those properties dynamically. As such, what methods are available to accomplish this task?

As a starting point for creating custom controls, I would like to make a control that simply displays a number. If we imagine the .ascx file contains nothing except for a literal control, and the code behind sets that value to 1.
I then want to be able to do myControl.increment();
This will run some javascript that increases the value of the literal control.
I could inject a javascript into the page, such as pseudocode:

or something, but that wouldn't be myControl.increment, that would just be increment(). More than one control on the page would screw it up.
