View 2 Replieswe are working in a small team. We often had problems like developer1 did some changes in stored procedure or funtion and it affected work of developer2. Such issues are traced out by chance later. Please guide me how such issues can be stopped. Is there a free tool that we can run to test such issues.
View 3 RepliesI'm looking for a free ASP.NET 2.0 ListBox control that supports display of items in two columns. It also needs to support selecting multiple items.
I really prefer not to have to use a monospaced font and mess with formatting my ListBox items into columns.

to implement greate search utility for free text.
Also i have some knowledge of SQL SERVER 2005's FULL Text utility.
i am using a multi selecting file upload control which is postBack free.
I am using session timeout.
My problem is that during files uploading my session got expired. Bcoz my uploader not being postback so i can't enhance session timeout. and while uploading my session got expired and process was not ompleted, causes some imp files could not uploaded.
Page B - loads slowly and needs to do some CPU-intensive operations on the web server.
I noticed that when someone is loading Page B, then Page A also loads slowly. This is even worse if multiple users are loading Page B at the same time. Page A won't finish loading until Page B is done.
Is there a best practice for making sure that Page A can still load quickly? Maybe a config setting or IIS setting that I need to change from its default? With 2 users loading Page B at the same time, the web server CPU usage only gets to 30% so I suspect it might be something I can tweak with the settings.
When uploading a new DLL for a large web application (dll is around 1mb) IIS throws an error because the DLL is 'in-use', meaning the website is down while the DLL is being uploaded. Is there a way to stop this behaviour?
Also, although I am using Web Applications, not Web Sites, whenever I upload a new DLL it still takes a while for IIS to restart after a fresh upload. I thought this wait was generally only for websites as they need to be compiled by IIS, not Web Applications?
Can anyone guide me where I can find good asp.net pages design templates free as well as paid.
View 1 RepliesIve got an ASP.net web application and was testing the pages. At the moment I store a variable in the
System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Session[
say the user is authenticated when they have been verified on login. So if the login is successful the authenticated is set to true. This is checked on every page load to make sure they have logged in.What I did was to log in and then the Main Menu page is displayed.I copied the address of this, set the page to goggle's page then pasted the address back into the address bar and the page loaded back up.How can I stop this from happening?Should have some mechanisim to prevent this?If so how.
In uploading files and determining their length, I want to know if there is any alternative to
<code>
file1.PostedFile.ContentLength
</code>
It seems that this quantity is counted up as the actual uploading is taking place.
Once the customer has selected his file-to-be-uploaded and put it in the textbox, is there any
other way for my script immediately to say "This file is 5 Mb and it is therefore too big" ?
find a good tutorial for uploading files to a virtual directory?
I have been googling for a while now.
I found is this:
[URL]
But I need code examples, more specific information about security in IIS etc.
I need to upload images from client to server as follows:
1. Server is passing the client a file name
2. Client is checking file extensins to ensure it's an image then issues a __dopostback to the server.
3. Server uses the FileUpload control to save the image on the server.
I have that all covered, but, if image is too large, the upload fails with the following error: 'System.Web.HttpException: Maximum request length exceeded.'
Is there a way to check file size on the client (without the use of ActievX which also errors out), before it is passed back to the server?
I'm currently developing a web application where everything works fine in the visual studio web server. It authenticates the user, access the database, writes to it, etc.
After I wrestled yesterday to publish it to my local iis, a subject I admit I have little to no experience of doing, suddenly the membership of the website started to not authenticate the users.
At first I suspected maybe the app wasn't accessing SQLServer, or that the data with the users I had in the asp.net membership database was erased when I uploaded the website.
So I stopped iis, i attached the db file to my local sql server, and I can see that all the users are there just like I uploaded them. I also can see the website can access another database with micellaneous contents just fine.
The loging controls don't tell me there's any problem either, they just show a message telling the user that the login attempt wasn't successful.
So, here's what I remember I did to make the app work as it wasn't even doing that when I first uploaded it.
I used the asp.net_regiis tool to copy website scripts to the website.
aspnet_regiis -sn <path>
then I deleted the website, uploaded again from VS. this time it shows in the browser but it doesn't authenticate the users.
The application isn't precompiled, I just uploaded it.
Over the years I have had a few of the websites I have developed submitted for penetration testing by clients. Most of the time the issues that are highlighted when the results return relate to the default behaviour of ASP .Net such as possible cross site scripting attacks etc.Are there any good articles on which vulnerabilities exist by default in an ASP .Net application and secondly are there any good checklists to follow which will help prepare a site in advance?

i am finished writing the main part of my website and would now like to write the iphone version. is there a way to debug my site using the built in debugger in visual studio? i have only been able to access it on the computer it is running on.

View 1 RepliesI have a simple website developed on vwd2008express edition .
I have precompiled the site and have all compiled files in a folder.
how to go abt deploying these files on iis.
I've made a simple website in ASP.NET MVC Framework with users, articles etc., and images to users profiles. There is a simple static class for image manipulation (resizing, cropping and saving images on hard drive), placed in "Helper" directory. I wonder what to do with the code to preserve MVC principles and make whole website more unit testing friendly.

I am using visual studio professional 2008
i have page which is derived from nested master page. Below is the hierarchy
Master.Master
Master2Column.master
Bronze.aspx
The aspx page is derived from master2column and which in turn is derived from master.master.
Now i need to find a control in bronze.aspx page from master.master.cs page. This is where i am getting lost.
My master.master has the contentplaceholder1. Below is my master2column
[Code]....
And the maincontent is in bronze.aspx page. Now i need to find a label called lblTo.
I tried this one
[Code]....
and few other options too. But still i am getting "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
Recently for a class to implement unit test for one of its private methods I used PrivateObject by creating private accessor instead of refelection, to which i received a code review comment as below
"My main concern with Private Object is the use of object[] in constructor. It replaces strong typing enforced by compiler with JavaScript-style run-time error detection.Consequently , personally, I would not recommend it."
Comments above confused me beacuse as per my understanding reflection also needs the object[] to invoke any method.
