Function Not Returning True Value?
Jan 5, 2010
I have a call to a function in my business logic area. It should be returning a true.
[URL]
This url above is the culprit. The code doesn't seem to like the .asp type of file. I wonder why this is the case. I get a true response for a html or php type of file. The above returns false. Does anyone know why?

I downloaded the Facebook C# SDK 4.1.1, and incorporated it on a small ASP.NET 3.5SP1 web project. When I run the application from VS Studio 2008, it allowed me to install my Facebook application. When I log onto facebook, I can see that my app installed, as I see it on my home page left nav.
When I click on the app, it displays the default.aspx page on my facebook app iframe. Looks like it worked, right? No it doesn't because when I debug the page on localhost, I see that the Authorize() on the CanvasAuthorizer app returns FALSE.
I created a web app in IIS 5.0 so that the default vs studio debugger doesn't interfere.
Here are they facebook settings I have set and other relevant information.

I have a WCF service with cyclic references that I was using the CyclicReferencesAwareAttribute attribute (http://chabster.blogspot.com/2008/02/wcf-cyclic-references-support.html) to solve. However now I want to use the same service with a Silverlight client. Receiving data works well on the Silverlight client with this method, however the CyclicReferencesAwareAttribute attribute does not work on the Silverlight side when I want to send objects back again.
I have changed to use the IsReference property on the data contract which is supposed to get round with this issue. However now the objects that are returned are empty! (All fields are either default or null). This is the same in my ASP.NET client (original) and my Silverlight client.
Has anyone hit is issue before? Here is the attribute [System.Runtime.Serialization.DataContract(Namespace="http://testnamespace.co.uk/entities", IsReference=true)]

I would like to return an function in some JSON. How can I stop my function being output as text (how can i stop it being wrapped in quotation marks?).
eg: [Code]....
In script the value of name is just a string. Is there some object I can set name to that will wrap my script and emit as script not a string?I want to do this to better control the "remote" rule of jQuery validate. I have my own dataannotationmodelvalidator for it and its doing this atm:
[Code]....
Which is working fine for the most part except I can't get the value of 'name' to be a function. It comes out as a string. Alternatively is there someway to control what JSON serializer this thing is using alternatively. We need a wrapper function so you can do something like:
name = Emit("function(){ return $(this).val(); }")
and have it come out as script not a string.

This is regarding GetPreloadedEntityBody() function of HttpWorkerRequest class . I am using this method to get perloaded data of requested page. but GetPreloadedEntityBody() function alway returns me null value , while same code is working for server with IIS6.0
1) I have Application_PostAcquireRequestState event . on which i do all user releated validation.
2) After Sucessful validation i am creating object like below code snippet of worker process.
Dim hwr As HttpWorkerRequest =
CType(context.GetType.GetProperty("WorkerRequest", Reflection.BindingFlags.Instance
Or Reflection.BindingFlags.NonPublic).GetValue(context,
Nothing), HttpWorkerRequest)
3) AFter That checking where request has body or not and the calling GetPreloadedEntityBody() which is returning null alway for IIS7.0 ,while in IIS6.0 same code is working fine.
if hwr.HasEntityBody
Then
Dim preloadedBufferData
As Byte() = hwr.GetPreloadedEntityBody()
end if
what more do i have to do so that i can get return value form GetPreloadedEntityBody() function.

I have problem with a stored procedure and function that return the same shape, but as they are different methods LINQ won' t let me cast between the two. Please see code for the two SPROCs below (This is actually simplified to represent the problem, so please don't spend lots of time explaining alternative ways of writing the function/sproc.)

SELECT categoryName, categoryID FROM categories
SPROC "getUnusedCategories"

It took me a little while to figure this out, but the AllowPaging="true" on the FormView seems to be the culprit. I don't have much experience paging from a FormView, but for this requirement the customers wants this kind of UI.I have a FormView with DefaultMode="Edit", which is bound to an EntityDataSource. One of the entity's properties, "ExternalID", determines whether some of the other properties in the entity are read-only. For example, if IsExternal==null, the FirstName, LastName, and Email fields should be rendered as TextBoxes. If IsExternal!=null, the 3 properties should be rendered in Label controls.

I have this import function which can be changed by the client in his desired way.Now I want to code such that if the client tries to import his own data on the page and doesnot give the tags in the order mentioned below his import function should be stopped.
It shouldn't make any changes unless the tags are in the right format because the problem now is if the tags are not in the right format when client changes then its importing over the existing files and directing to an error page which I dont want it should simply stop the import function if they are nt in the order.the code for this function is below

I would like to write a function to reuse some functionality that I repeat over and over...
For example:
[code]....
What's changing, in every field, is only the lambda function to get the current field to edit (Name, City, Address, etc...).
What is the best method? Or better: is there ANY method to extract a generic function?

I need to create something which is like an Add friend function in my website which works like this:
1) User types in name of the person he wants to search in the search field and clicks enter
2) on the same page, the search result will come out with an "add friend" button beside every name
3) when the user clicks the "add friend" button, he will be brought to another page (or pop up with a message box?) with a text message field to send to the friend, and a submit button to submit the friend request.
4) over at the Friend's page, he will be able to view the add friend request and decide whether to accept or deny the friend request.

Take the following scenario. I have multiple ASPX pages. Login, Logout, Main, Messages, etc... They all inherit from System.Web.UI.Page of course. For all the pages, I want to override the Render method from the Page class. I could easily copy and paste the same code into each page like so:
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer)
{
//Code Logic Here
}
But if I had many pages, lets say 20, maintaining the code in each page could get very time consuming and error prone.That made me think a bit and I thought okay lets try this...override the function in each page but call a static function. That way changing the static function would result in a change for every page.Which works fine... But its not really nice and clean, having to override like that on every single page.

I am attempting to inherit an ASP.NET RegularExpressionValidator and add some functionality to it. I inherited the control and added my custom properties. However, I would also like the client-side functionality to call a different JavaScript functionIn order to do that, I will need to supress what is happening in the AddAttributesToRender method because the name of the function is hard-coded there.
Protected Overrides Sub AddAttributesToRender(ByVal writer As HtmlTextWriter)
MyBase.AddAttributesToRender(writer)
If MyBase.RenderUplevel Then
Dim clientID As String = Me.ClientID
