Configuration :: Use To Copy/publish Websites To Web Server Is Not Allowing Us Access To Push Websites?

Oct 15, 2010

the account we use to copy/publish websites to our web server is not allowing us access to push websites. I've added this account to the permissions in the links listed in the below link, but i don't have success when trying to push remotely. When the account is in the local admins account, everything works flawlessly, but we are not allowed to have it in there. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/31be047e-4716-4974-b8a1-be0111b50199 I've googled and searched a lot for this particular error, but am not finding an answer that helps. We get this error, 'Unable to create the Web 'http://edea01/test/planning'. You are not authorized to perform the current operation', and the above link is the scenario that matches mine the most. I don't do develompment work, but am asked to figure out this connection problem.

Application Hosted On IIS7 That Is Ignoring Custom Errors And Falls Back To IIS Errors?

Jul 2, 2010

I have a C# web forms ASP.NET 4.0 web application that uses Routing for URLs for some reason custom errors defined in the system.web section of my web.config is entirely ignored and it will fall back the IIS errors.

This gets entirely ignored

[code]....

This would be a minor inconvenience except that by the fact it falls back to IIS native instead of my application it completely circumvents Elmah logging my 404 exceptions correctly.

Eliminating Errors That Aren't Really Errors?

Dec 21, 2010

When I build my program, if there's one error that prevents it from running, instead of just getting the one error I'll get around 50 additional errors in addition to the real one such as:

Error 27 Validation (XHTML 1.0 Transitional): This name contains uppercase characters, which is not allowed.

Is there any way to not show these?

.net - C# App Not Compiling Correctly?

Mar 29, 2011

I need to get my C# Web Application in VS 2008 Professional to compile. I have 2 projects in one solution.The first project, PowerMeter has an App_Code folder with namespace Inov.PowerMeter and the associated .aspx.cs files in the app reference it by using Inov.PowerMeter;. This code compiles fine and builds the powermeter.dll correctly. I have a second project called QuickMeter. The app_code for this creates a namespace Inov.Quickmeter and the aspx.cs files reference it correctly. But this doesn't compile.

Add Assembly To Web.config While Only Compiling Dll?

Nov 25, 2010

I need to compile a class library (DLL) from an ASP.NET source. Now when I try to build it says this:

The type
'System.ComponentModel.ISupportInitialize'
is defined in an assembly that is not
referenced. You must add a reference
to assembly 'System, Version=2.0.0.0,
Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

Now I know that I have to put it in the web.config file. But there is no web.config file it's just the source of the dll that needs to be compiled.

How To Prevent IIS From Compiling Website

Mar 1, 2010

I have an ASP .NET web application which on the backend is talking to an ASMX web service. We have counted and the average wait time for the initial request is 20s. I am wondering if there is a way I can send the web service up to the server precompiled, thus negating the need for compilation.We have also noticed that IIS tends to recycle its worker threads and this also causes a compilation. The process itself is not accessed terribly often, but it needs to be much quicker when it is

Configuration :: Compiling For 2.0 Using VS2010?

Aug 5, 2010

I just discovered that a (simple) website I'm working on will be deployed to a server running framework 2.0. My quandry is that I started it using VS2010 and framework 4.0.

Is the solution as simple as changing the compile to options? I'm assuming that I'll have to remove the Listview controls I am using as they didn't get introduced until 3.5 (i think).

Am I basically correct with this or am I missing something?

VS 2010 - Stop Compiling To DLL

Dec 5, 2011

I notice whenever I try to build my asp.net website that I have been working on it compiles as a dll rather than as an actual web site. I don't know why but it seems to happen with all my asp.net project for the past couple of days. I might have accidentally change the output settings. However, I output type select that is set to "Class Library" but the selection to greyed out so I can not change it. How do I change the settings?

Configuration :: Error Code 1 When Compiling?

Sep 18, 2010

I get the dreaded "the compiler failed with error code 1" error message when application starts. Sometimes, it does not even start and in VS 2008 I get:"Could not load file or assembly 'file///C:WindowsMicrosoft.NetFrameworv2.0.50727Temporary ASP.NET FilesInternal2d7d8a83649918fApp_Web_timecard.aspx.3ecd542a.aa9wycbd.dll' or one of its dependencies. The system cnnot find teh file specified"I have searched for this error and tried everything suggested to no avail. I deleted the "Internal" folder in Temporary ASP.NET Files folder, changed something in one of teh file and also in web.config to force a recompile and restared IIS. Same thing happens. I checked all the files and do not a circular definition/referencing.

C# - Compiling Code In Medium Trust?

Dec 21, 2010

Together with Ben (@BuildStarted), we've been building the RazorEngine project, which is designed to allow you compile and parse arbitrary templates outside of ASP.NET MVC. The project has had a couple of releases for a while now, and the feedback has been greatBut, we have encountered an issue: Medium trust.

Because we are using the CSharpCodeProvider to compile the Razor-generated classes (to load into the current AppDomain for execution), we encounter a SecurityException when trying to invoke it, due to the LinkDemand enforced on it. When a normal ASP.NET page is compiled (regardless of trust level), it does so through a BuildProvider which is normally GAC'd, and thus is implicity granted the appropriate permissions to compile. Hence ASP.NET WebForms works as standard in Medium trust.

Our code does not, and we need to target scenarios where our built library won't be deployed to the GAC and is running in Medium trust. So we considered building a BuildProvider specifically for it and defer compilation to the ASP.NET build system, but this seems overly complex and disjointed, and the provider itself requires both a mapping through a file extension, and a virtual path (which may or may not resolve to a physical file - think VirtualPathProvider). It all seems overkill, just to get the project working in Medium trust; not just that, but purely for ASP.NET projects as our engine also works outside of ASP.NETSo my question is this, does anyone know of any techniques or technologies for compiling C# code in a Medium trust environment?

.Net Runat Server Controls Not Compiling?

Mar 29, 2011

I have created a new Web project (.Net 3.5) and I've removed the original Default page in favour of creating a Master page and then recreating a Default with Master page. All worked lovely. Now, when I add my controls inside of the ContentPlaceHolder on the Default page, I get compiler errors when I try to access the controls from the CodeFile:

Error 4 '_Default' does not contain a definition for 'FirstName' and no extension method 'FirstName' accepting a first argument of type '_Default' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

My declaration of the control:

<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="FirstName" />

EDIT

Page declaration:

<%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Master/MasterPage.Master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %>

Code-behind:string firstname = FirstName.Text;

Configuration :: Existing Items Not Compiling?

Jul 16, 2010

I have a project ointo which I have copied a folder form another website - that folder consists of aspx and associated aspx.vb files and folders cotaining js, css and ashx stuff. The folder is in the same place relative to root in both the original and target projects/sites. I have added the copied items to the destination project using VS "show all files"|right click add_to_project_method.

Things seem to have worked - e.g intellisense seems to recognise the controls in an aspx file when working on the matching aspx.vb file. However, whne you build the project (even though inteliisense is recognising them) the comiler moans that all of teh controls on the copied pages are undefined.

So intellisense says they are there but the compiler says they are not....

How Does Compiling Happen Only For The First Time In Project-less Development

Jan 16, 2011

I read these words in a book:

Projectless development simplifies debugging: When creating a web project, you must recompile the entire application when you change a single page. With projectless development, each page is compiled separately, and the page is only compiled when you request it for the first time.

How does compiling happen only for the first time in projectless development?

Should it recompile every time I run the page to reflect the new code I wrote it?

Difference In DLL When Compiling On Build Server Instead Of Dev Machine?

Mar 18, 2010

I have an application that loads user controls into .NET web application. When I compile and test the application locally on my dev machine it works on my machine. The project builds successfully using MSBuild on our build server. However when I deploy the dll generated by MSBuild on the build server I get the following error when the application loads the control:BC30456: 'CreateResourceBasedLiteralControl' is not a member of 'ASP.usercontrols_somecontrol_ascx'.I took a look and compared the dll generated on my machine and compared it(looked at the file size) with the one created by the build server and noticeda difference in the file size. This is confusing considering the code being built locally and on the build server is IDENTICAL. I manually compared each file by hand. So my question is: What is causing this error? What would be different between MSBuild's compilation of the code and what is going on in Visual Studio when compiling the code?

How To Publish A Full Website Without Compiling And Without Copying SVN Files

Aug 17, 2010

Apparently, DNN installations do not like to be precompiled (they won't be able to find any localized strings then). Our installation is safely put in SVN, which means I cannot just copy the whole directory. To publish everything, I need to copy the whole website directory without the SVN files and directories. So far, I've been messing with good old DOS commands, which is time consuming and error prone.

an MS-Built script or step to do just this? Or can I do this using default Visual Studio 2010 commands?

Note: this is a website, not a web application.
