Apr 7, 2010I have a settings page in my asp.net website,in which a user can select desired items and their order to be displayed in another page.I am displaying these items(which are obtained from database) in a gridview with checkboxes,up/down arrows next to them.Once the user makes his selection/rearranges the items and clicks on the 'Save' button,I am saving the data into another database table.When this particular user logsin again I want to check the items which were already chosen by him and arrange them in the order he specified, on page load.I am able to check the checkboxes of the already chosen items but do not understand how do I arrange the items in the user specified order?
Update: Basically 'items' in my question refers to column names of a database table.so once the user selects his desired column names and their order,the data corresponding to these columns gets displayed in another page in the column sequence specified.

Now I want to change the order of my Templated column in gridview at runtime. I want to show the templatedcolumn at column 20 but it is shown as first column. My Grdiview looks like this:

Mar 28, 2011I have a detailsview that has about 15 fields. When I display the deailsview I have to use scroll bars because all the fields are displayed one on top of the other. Is there a way to arrange the display of the detailsview so you have 3 fields on the same row then the next row of the detailsview displays 4 fields and so on.

May 17, 2010I have been trying to do this all day but nothing seems to work. SOMEONE please enlighten me !!! I am adding products to a string and displaying them in another page. All is good .... up till here.
Now I have a problem when saving these strings (ie: the added products) into gridview. I tried using objectdatasource but I'm getting confused. Anyone done this before ? Basically when the products are in gridview I want the user to press 'purchase items' button, and the items are written to the database.

Apr 7, 2014In my website, there is a page called "SMS Log"It contains a GridView, in which there are 5 columns:
1) SMS sent time
2) SMS Text
3) Recipients
4) status
5) Button (view detail) since, "SMS Text" is large and "Recipients" are more than 1.
So Gridview looks very conjusted, also it does not look good.Is there any other control I can use other than Gridview to show above 5 columns in a well organized way.

As mentioned in above figure (LEFT SIDE) I have 8 grades in alphabetical order A, B, C, D, E, F, G and Z. There are different companies belong with different grades respectively. This is my database table situation. And I want an output like (RIGHT SIDE) figure in my grid view using SQL Query.
The grade position is skipped if there is no any raw or company name exists. And newly entered Company is automatically placed in that respective skipped grade position.

Apr 4, 2010I am helping a club create a site that has a password protected "members only area". I have never done anything password protected. I used VWD and created the user names and passwords. Apparently using the AspNetSqlProvider. The site and password protected area work great when tested locally. The problem is when the site is uploaded to the hosting company, the login area will not work. I found that I had to create an SQL database in the appropriate area of the hosting company. The login still won't work. I am thinking that I have to create a connection string in the web config file. The problem is - when I tried that the site wouldn't work when I tested it locally. I really need lots of help with this part.

Unfortunately, when the new webpage opens, the url contains lots of spaces and I'm struggling to remove all of the spaces. The code actually works but looks a bit messy, see below.
"http://localhost:34354/website1/editrecords2.aspx?rid=2&sid=2& dip=5 & iid=3 &tid=3"
but should look like this
"http://localhost:34354/website1/editrecords2.aspx?rid=2&sid=2&dip=5& iid=3&tid=3"

If i have smith for five times in my table then i have to check all the five persons like,by having their lastname as comman. check attached form.
