View 1 RepliesI built a master page (master01.master), then I built a header control (header.ascx), and added the header-control to the master page.
Now I want to access/alter the label on the header control, from other pages in my web application.
How can I do this?
I have grid view in my page below is my code
<asp:TemplateField ItemStyle-Width = "100px" ItemStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblmob" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("Tell")%>' CssClass="lblmobV"></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
<asp:TemplateField ItemStyle-Width = "15px" ItemStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center">

I want when users click on Linkbutton it insert data from gridview into Variz Table in database but when I click on link button below error happen Server Error in '/behtop website' Application. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. I have a DetailsView which has two fields - one that is visible, one that is not. The first the user fills out, the second I want to auto-populate. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a way to set the value in this second invisible field. I've tried adding code like this to the Page_Load:
If Not IsPostBack Then
DetailsView1.DefaultMode = DetailsViewMode.Insert
Dim txt1 As TextBox = DirectCast(DetailsView1.FindControl("Type"), TextBox)
txt1.Text = "administrator"
End If
But this returns an error of "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." how to accomplish this - either using the method above or another method? The hoped for end result is that when a new record is inserted via the DetailsView that this record will include the username (entered by the user) as well as the "type" of "administrator"
There are 2 master page in my web project:
the first one is MasterPageA.Master which has some controls; the second one is MasterPageB.Master which is son of MasterPageA and it has some other controls.
There is also another page, named Default1.aspx, which is son of MasterPageB.Master.
I need to access to a label control put in the Content part of MasterPageB.Master.
I tried to fit the code that I usually use for one level (Master-Son) found at this page and I've write in Default.aspx.vb this code:
Code:

I have a class UserControlBase that inherits System.Web.UI.UserControl and my user controls inherit UserControlBase class. UserControlBase has some common functions that are used in all user controls.
I want to put error display funtion to UserControlBase as well so that I may not have to declare and manage it in all user controls. Error will be displayed in some label in usercontrol. Issue is how to access label which is in usercontrol in UserControlBase in function ?
I have placed a label in footer template of DataList Control.. And i want to access it a DataLists UpdateCommand..
if (e.Item.ItemType == ListItemType.Footer)
{
lbl = (Label)e.Item.FindControl("lblmessage");
}
But it did not work....
I have some tables in my asp.net mvc application for layout purposes. Even though I usually use divs for most things, in some cases tables make most sense because they already have exactly the layout I'm after in these cases.
The only problem is, as far as I know the borders are supposed to be invisible unless you specify a width and style for the borders. But they aren't... They are rather vague, yes, but there are still light blue borders around each cell. What is that and how do I get rid of them? (Funny thing is I don't remember having seen this before when I used tables, which was a while ago).
I also tried specifically setting the border to 0px on both table and td, but that didn't work either...
how can i access the headertext of a templatefield of a gridview on mouseover and display it in a label control?
View 4 RepliesI am developing a site that has a page and several web controls.
Say i have webControl1.ascx, webControl2.ascx, webControl3.ascx, webControl4.ascx
I add these web cotnrols dynamically webControl1.ascx webControl2.ascx and some other times webControl3.ascx webControl4.ascx
Lets say webCotnrol1.ascx has an aspx button with ID="SaveArticle" and click event "MyClickEvent". If i press this button i am suppose to load webControl3.ascx webControl4.ascx but not webControl1.ascx webControl2.ascx.
The first problem is that "MyClickEvent" will never execute since the webControl1.ascx will never be loaded.
The second problem is that i tried to use FindControl("SaveArticle") but these does not work since the name is changed to something like "$articleControl$SaveArticle"
I think my problem is that i dont know how to hancle workflow.
I am implementing a leave system using the calender control. Something like below :- Following is the markup :-
<asp:Calendar ID="Calendar1" runat="server" ondayrender="Calendar1_DayRender"
ShowGridLines="True">
</asp:Calendar>
<asp:DropDownList ID="DropDownList1" runat="server">
<asp:ListItem Value="vacation" Text="Vacation" />
<asp:ListItem Value="sick" Text="Sick" />
<asp:ListItem Value="training" Text="Training" />
</asp:DropDownList>
<asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Save" onclick="Button1_Click" />
Following is the code-behind :-
protected void Calendar1_DayRender(object sender, DayRenderEventArgs e)
{
if (!e.Day.IsOtherMonth && !e.Day.IsWeekend)
{
CheckBoxList list = new CheckBoxList();
list.Items.Add(new ListItem("Half day"));
list.Items.Add(new ListItem("Full day"));
e.Cell.Controls.Add(list);
}
}
However, I am not able to access the the checkbox values neither in the button_click event nor in the DayRender event? Is there a better way to implement this?
I am developing one custom control. I dont want default web control property should be in my custom control.For example.[Code]....
When you put this control in the page, you will see default web control property such as Font,Border,Width,Height.... I want to show only those properties that I define in my class.Suppose, I have three property defined in class then only three properties will be visible for control, other default web control proeprty should be hide or invisible.
I am developing an application in which I have to use a User Control.I have created a user control in which I am using
- A Label (whose text will be dynamic)
- 3 Textboxes (whose values will be also dynamic).
So far everything is working fine.Now I used this user control in a aspx page and at the page_load i have to loop thru all the instance of this user control and assign values to them and here the problem begins.The values are not being assigned to the controls.
Here is the code which i have written to loop thru User Control instances and assign values to them.
[Code]...
I have some controls, textboxes, etc with RequiredFieldValidators attached. When they are visible from page load, they work fine.
However, I want to start them as invisible, and on a button click, make them visible. The onclick event sets the controls to visible, but the Validators won't fire.
I have a usercontrol which has a combobox inside it.
This UserControl is the inside an asp panel - and when the panel is visible, the dropdownlist within the control binds to its datasource and behaves itself.
When the panel visibility is set to false, the dropdownlist within the usercontrol is empty.
i have simple repeater control on my page:
<asp:Repeater id="Repeater1" runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:TextBox id="txtBox1" runat="server" Text='<%#Eval("attributename") %>'></TextBox>
<ItemTemplate>
</Repeater>
I'm bounding data to repeater control by using SqlDataSource Control
bounded data is something like this:
attributeid attributename
1 color
2 size
How can I get access to attributeid values in Repeater control's ItemDataBound event handler,
I tried to use DataBinder.GetPropertyValue(container,"attribuetid"), but I can't set container, am I doing right, or maybe I should use another approach.
I bound the gridview having some fields(ID, StudName, City) and Display Button. When I click on the Disply button I approve the student and updation will happen.
Bu what happen the column ID is not in the sequence. Sometime it displays 1,2,3,4,5,6 ... next time it will display 7,8,9,10,11.... I want a sequence for the column ID. For that I used :
<%# Container.DataItemIndex+1 %>
and it is working fine.. But again I realize that these numbers are generating at runtime and i can't refer to that student. Also I don't want to display ID column on the grid view but I want to use on runtime generated column. [ i am using RowCommand for ID column ] How it is possible?
I have XML file named as "XMLFile.xml"
So how to write XML records in Label?
I have a SQL database. I am getting a datatable from SQL. In SQL Query the table is having null values in the output. But when it is coming to the front end, the null values are replaced by empty values.
So in the front end in the datatable i am having empty values in some cells. I am trying to insert this datatable into access. For this i am using following code...
OleAdpData.InsertCommand.Connection = OleConn; // OleConn is the OleDbConnection
OleAdpData.InsertCommand.Connection.Open();
OleAdpData.Update(dtData); // dtData is the datatable
OleAdpData.InsertCommand.Connection.Close();
It is inserting the datatable to access database. But it is inserting the empty spaces as present in the datatable. I want to insert NULL into the cells in access datatable where the cells are empty. Where should i add my logic for this.
I have problem while I'm inserting some values to access database ,my query contains From as fieldname
this is the query: Insert into Bank (TrancheDBID,TxnType,CACN,MatchCACN,PlanAssignDate,AssignDate,ActiveDate,From,To) values (809,'Assigned','','0156-02-01','15/05/2001 12:00:00 AM','30/11/2009 12:00:00 AM','7/10/2001 12:00:00 AM','HIL','KAH')
I have tried to put [From] but it doesnt work in vb.net, however it does directly on access
I want to create a code in which I select an Item from a dropdownlist and the corresponding value gets sent to a label.text The dropdownlist is binding to an access database. For example a name would get selected from the dropdownlist then the corresponding name will have a short discription which came from the database this short discription will appear in the label text.
View 18 RepliesI am having a "TextBox" a "Label" and a "Button" in my aspx page. If I enter some values into the textbox, then that value should be displayed in the label...and again I enter some values in the same text box, that value should be displayed without disturbing the first value and so on...
