How To Show Preloader Into Dropdownlist

i have three dropdownlists ....First contains Countries, second contains States within that specific country, and thrid contains Cities within that specific state...now, i have filled first dropdownlist through database... after selection of country i filled the list of state within that selected country through database... then after selection of state i filled the third dropdownlist with cities through database.....for that i have used update pannel... but because of servertrip to get the specific state list of city's list from database ..... that dropdownlist get blink...and for that i want preloader for that state and city dropdownlist....means when i select country instead of that dropdownlist get blink i want to show any symbol ofprocess or "Loading...." text into that dropdownlist of state... and for city also.

i have implemented an image preloader using javascript inside my mvc 2 web app, in order to display an animated "loading" image .gif while sequentially displaying page images.I have also implemented caching using a cache profile for the controller action that displays the specific page ([OutputCache(CacheProfile = "LongCache")]).The problem is that the image preloader javascript is called when caching is applied. I was wondering whether i could, somehow, use the image preloader code only when the page gets refreshed and not when the cached version is rendered.

this is my Question extension to this Question..Here I am able to add the Dropdown list value to the Grid.. perfectly.Ex: in my Dropdownlist box I have A B C D items.When I add any Item I am displaying the grid and I am reloading my page.My grid have two columns one is added Dropdownlist value.. other is some other text value..each row in my grid have Edit button.When I click Edit I am reloading my page to edit this selected dropdownlist value.when I click Edit I need to show what ever the Dropdownlist value I have in the grid I need to show in the Dropdownlist..so that user knows he has this dropdown value..

How "should" I be doing this in an environment that contains a virtual host, one which is determined by the installer of the application. For example, the application can be installed like this:
~/someVirtualDirectory/theapp I'm considering creating a Ajax Server Control to accomplish this task, something like the below or maybe even extending the ImageButton and Hyperlink control to do this by default. Is there a much easier way I am missing?

I have an .aspx Page with dropDownList, where you can choose State. The list contains 50 States. Then I have a GridView displaying all the stores of this particular state, which is dependent on dropDownList through the SQL Data Sources WHERE clause.
But the problem is, every time I change the State in the dropDownList and subsequently refreshing GridView - the page URL stays the same dealers.aspx.
I don't want to create 50 pages for 50 States, but now I need to have 50 different URL's. Is there a way to change URL's dynamically, based on dropDownList choice? And so people can get directly to URL of choice. For example dealers.aspx/California.

I have one dropdownlist like this bellow.. the problem is that if I have more than 30 ListItem the list will have 30 elements/rows display and the rest to scroll. Is there a way to show only 10 elements and scroll the rest? I read in some pages that this is not possible. Is that true?

I am filling a dropdownlist and sometimes the value (text) is much longer than what is viewable. Is there an easy way to have user see the full text. I am currently using "ASPNET_MsgBox(Message)" and it works but looking for a better solution.

I have a dropdown list which include "yes" and "no". When I click "yes", then there have to be 2 text boxes visible, just below the dropdownlist. If the user selects "no" in the dropdownlist, then the 2 text boxes have to disappear again.

I'm using a text book to teach myself ASP.NET 3.5. I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 express to create my pages. At this point in my text, the author has me drag a DropDownList control to the Web page and then tells me to go to the Properies window and look at the Items property. I don't see an Items property. I've doublechecked that I'm on my DropDownList control, but I see no Items property. Is this a bug in VWD, an error in the book, or just plain old User error?
I'd be willing to hard-code the property in the source window, but I don't know the syntax. I tried
items="Vanilla, Chocolate" but nothing appears in the list when I view the screen.

I'm working on web pages that have an ASP DropDownList defined, and on page load the data source is bound to it through DataSource.DataBind(). When I step through the code, the drop down list does not show anything in it, but when the page actually displays, it does have items in the list. When exactly does DataBind() get applied to the control?
The problem is that some of the values returned by the SQL back end have a null Text, so nothing is displayed in the drop down list for that row. I want to just use the Value as the Text, but only if the Text is null. And when I put the code to loop through and do that right after the DataBind(), there is nothing in the drop down list at that point in the code.

I've got two DropDownLists that are filled using a couple of SqlDataSources, like so:

The third DataSource, dsCriterias, is used to present a set of dynamically added DropDownLists depening on what's selected in the second DropDownList, subcategories. The set of dynamic DropDownLists are presented using this code:

The code works but there's little thing that's bugging me. When the page is first loaded the criterias belonging to the subcategory is not presented. I expect it to show the criterias but ther won't show until I make a choice in the categories-DropDownList meaning if I wan't the first subcategories criterias I have to choose different subcategory and then go back to the first one. It's a bit hard to explain.
An example: When the page is first loaded I get a category presented, eg. Vehicles. In the subcategories I get the alternatives "Bicycles", "Cars" and "Motorcycles". "Bicycles" will be the one presented when the page loads since the stored procedure used by dsSubcategories sorts the data by the subcategory names. The problem is that I don't get the criterias for the "Bicycles" subcategory at page load. To get them I first need to select "Cars" or "Motorcycles" and then choose "Bicycles".
I've tried putting a subcategories.SelectedIndex = 0 in in the OnLoad but nothing seems to do the trick.

I have a dropdownlist populated by a table containing ID and Name field. I am showing a textbox and add button if the user selects "Other" option from that dropdownlist. When a user fills the textbox and hit that button it binds the dropdownlist. But I am struggling to figure out how to show the textbox value immediately in the dropdownlist after they hit the add button. I don't want my users to scroll down the list to find the newly added item. Please provide sample code.
