Insert Data Onto Webpage

I have a program where people insert data onto my webpage, this data is then inserted into a database. Some of the fields in the table can not be null and if they are null the webpage throws a error.I would like to make this neat so it perhaps displays a label which says Error and doesn't show the user all the error information.I am only familiar with Try Catch for VB error handling, is there a better or more appropriate way to handle the errors?

I am using the query builder to frame an Insert query that I am using for a FormsView control on a web page. The problem is there are more than 50 fields that need to be inserted and I am wondering if there is any better way to do this... than manually typing in IdNames of controls on the web page in the VALUES (,,,,,,,,,,.......) section of the SQL statement.

I have a problem with DetailsView linked with Database, DetailsView is Insert/Edit enabled, and adding/ediditng data works, however........ when I add a new record (DetailsView in Insert mode) and press INSET instead going to record I have just created in Read-Only Mode it shows me blank form, it looks that the "linking" field is null.

I use GridView & FormView to update a record. but when I click the "save" button, throw an except : FormView must be in the insert mode to insert a record. The record has been updated success, and I didn't change the mode of the FormView, how this error comes?

In my detailsview, I have an emptydatatemplate set up to allow users to enter new records. The code works. However, once the record is inserted, the detailsview defaults to a standard insert screen. I know this will cause confusion for the users. I would prefer the detailsview to either show in edit mode or a read-only mode. I have used detailsview.changemode and detailsview.currentmode in the custom sub created for the add new button of the emptydatatemplate- neither of which do what I was hoping. It would be even better if when there was no data, it defaulted to the insert screen (which seems like that should be an easy, no-brainer way for .net to function) but it doesn't. Or, I don't know how to accomplish it.
I don't want to force the user to click cancel after inserting an item through the emptydatatemplate just to be able to use the detailsview for other records.

I am using Visual studio 2010 express and I have a details view databinded to an sql database table. When I use the Insert option on the view it causes an error due to it trying to insert a null into the primary key field. If the Insert function does not create a new primary key entry how is it created?

I have a Winform that has fields need to be filled by a user. I have a GridView (BulkEditGridView), that has 10 rows from the datasource. I Add a TemplateField "Insert Row" button to insert 1 blank row at selected row using Rows.AddAt.First time i press "Insert Row", it works as expected, the row inserted at selected row. now i press another "Insert Row", the row is inserted, however the row (in first time inserted) now move to the last row. and so on.

I am working on a financial portal and I am having a problem..I don;t know what to call it so i mentioned it as an 'unknown to me' problem..I have a webpage..whenever I click on any button on my webpage, the request goes through..but nothing show up on the webpage..then If I click on another link and then again come back to previous link,then only I see the results of button_click..
e.g.
I have a currency conversion and investment form..so after filling up the form in following way and if I click on "INVEST" then nothing shows up..
so now if i click on any other link and go back to 'buy currency' link I see the result as 'investment successful'

I would like to allow users to call my ruby on rails app as a service which returns a 'div' with html content in it, and embed that div into their app (which will not be a rails application).
For example, assume someone has their own php website that has a header/footer template that gets rendered, and a content area of the page that they need to fill based on some html I generate in my rails app. I would like to allow them, from php, to call to my website, get the 'div' I generate, and embed that as html in their php page.
What I'm trying to do is host a service on my site that returns some html content, but actually show that content as part of another site, so that the end user only sees the other site and never really knows about mine.
Also, I can use javascript on the client to do this if that is the only way, but I would prefer the php app to handle this at the server if possible so the client gets the html embedded from the original server and it looks like it all was generated by the php script that generated the entire page. I also want to avoid using an iframe.

I developed an application form which includes some textboxes for input. When the user click on the button the following tasks has to be done.
1) If page is valid all data should be stored in database
2) A new webform should appear on the same window and the some content of the application form should be displayed in it.
3) When clicking on browser back button it should not post back to previous page.....
I did the first task..and i don't know the code for the remaining tasks. Here is some information

I'm creating a time sheet for work to learn more about asp and making database connections I am also using this time to prepare for my next C# and database design class which start on Wednesday. I'd like to know how I can get data from default.aspx and display it in timesheetdisplay.aspx, and I would also like to know how I can make it so the person doesn't have to enter the full id "100000111" as it appears in the database just the last 3.

I'm currently working on a school project. I'll explain my problem with a short example: I have a table 'class' with an id, titel, comment & a table 'exercise' with classId, titel, explanation. Now I create an edit page, strongly-typed of course, for the person and add a partial view (also strongly-typed) for the exercises.
I don't have any problem for retrieving the data from my database(I use Linq to sql) and showing it on my webpage but my problem is this: How do I update everything using one button (using one function call)? How do i get all the data & how do i execute the update using Linq?

i am using a panel to enter the data. the panel is hidden which contains the combobox and the textboxes and when the user presses add item, i unhide the panel and get the data.this is working fine. but what i was needing is (as i have seen from a webpage)when the user presses add item, a new, small, webpage opens which contains the combobox and textboxes and when the user enteres the data the same is updated to the above data and then the grid is filled with the added record.
