I have a textbox in which I want to be enter normal character as well as password character like *****6789.
My TextBox accept 9 character in which 5 will not be readable and when user will type it will show * and last 4 character will be display as it is. suppose I have enter 123456789 and so it should be display like *****6789 and suppose I delete 5 character 5 so 6 should be come into 5th place and it will be convert to non readable (*) like *****789.

I have 2 textboxes and a submit button inside a .net composite server control. I tried to only postback when submit button is clicked. I set autopostback = false for both textboxes. But either one still trigger submit button's onclick event by hitting "Enter" inside textbox. How can I stop postback by enter key?

I have a textbox with an autocomplete extender. The user types in a few chars and usually gets a few to a few hundred suggestions back. And its pretty quick. This is on a formview control at the bottom by the paging. It is for a "Go to" feature. But it is returning the suggestions from the same list of search results from the previous page.(It's really the same page but I just toggle the visibility between the GridView Results and the FormView details). And if they select "All Tickets" its possible to get 5000 results from the search.
Now the autocomplete is really doing the same search as the search results did which is like 46 seconds. And then weeding it down further with the prefix (chars they type in the autocomplete textbox).I have a Return to list button. And I want the Button to interrupt, stop, cancel, abort, or somehow just not wait for the WebMethod to finish, and do a PostBack right away.Since btnReturnToList is a normal postback I can't really use PageRequestManager to check if in async or last postbackelementId or anything.

I'm doing building a library checkout and I'll be using a barcode scanner.
So, the ISBN will be entered in the textbox instantly. I want it to postback so the details view will show up with that information.
I'm stumped on how to postback the info without hitting the enter key.

Being that I'm new to Web Development, I was wondering about something. If I hit the "Enter/Return" key....does that automatically cause a postback? If so, does that reinitialize the entire code-behind file?
I only ask because I declare and initialize a boolean variable, when I click a specific button, it sets the variable to "True" and then I enter data into a textbox control. After entering data, I hit the "Enter/Return" key and suddenly the variable isn't "True" anymore.

I have a simple page, which have a couple of textbox controls for order number and id, and a Button control which takes the input from the textbox controls to search in database.
I found that if I type something in the textbox control and hit enter key on the keyboard, rather than use mouse to press the button control, the page will be redirected to the startup page of the web application.
I am wondering is that because of the default setting of the page or anyway I can fix this?
