Javascript - Way To Add Loads Of Sounds On A Webpage?
Dec 18, 2010
I am creating a browsergame in ASP.NET (using AJAX, jQuery, ect. - NO Flash). In this game I need to play some sound files. Right now I have those files as .WAV, but if the solution can play .MP3, that is preferred.I have several events during the game which need sounds: You hit the monster, you die, you level up, ect. The page is based upon update panels, which means I will have to add several sounds (and replay them at specific events) without a postback. As some of the sounds is replayed every 3-5th second and others are played way more rare, it has to be efficient to this requirement. What would be the best and most efficient solution to solve this? :-)
In my global.asax file for my ASP.net project, I am checking for certain conditions. When those conditions are met, I want to automatically execute javascript code when the page runs.
This is my code:
if condition Then Response.Write(" < script type=""text/javascript"" > ") Response.Write(" // Javascript code to do stuff ") Response.Write(" < /script > ") End If
While this appears to work to execute the Javascript code, I don't think it's a best practice because this code will preceed all of the HTML of the page that gets loaded.
What is the best way of programmatically tacking on some extra Javascript code to be run when my page loads?
I click the continue button which does a post back but the values are not updated until I refresh the page again which makes me think the js isn't being run until after the page is returned. I'm wondering how to have the values updated when the page is refreshed after the button postback.
I want to run the LoadArray() function initialy when the page loads. This function is calling a pagemethod given in aspx.vb code file..
Partial Class test3 Inherits System.Web.UI.Page <System.Web.Services.WebMethod()> Public Shared Function Load_Array() As String() Dim Model_Name_old As String()() Dim mod_code As String() Dim mod_name As String() Dim cod_upper As Integer //calling webservice that retunrs a jagged array Dim ins As New localhost_insert_model.dbModel Model_Name_old = ins.get_Model_Name("A") mod_code = Model_Name_old(0) mod_name = Model_Name_old(1) Return mod_name End Function End Class
So how can i load the javascrip LoadArray() function onPageLoad in this scenario?
As per Yahoo's guidelines for performance of web sites , javascripts should be combined in one to avoid extra http request , as i saw in YSlow asp.net loads 3 to 4 scripts one for MicrosoftAjax.js , one for microsoft MicrosoftAjaxForms.js & some other 2 which may tondle postbacks & client side validations , I want these 4 js to be in one.
I don't need to run the function every time the page loads!!
But, I would like to have the control when the function is to be called.
The only way I thought of is calling my function with OnLoad in the body tag and having a hidden field to be checked and then run the script accordingly.
e.g:
<body onload="ScrollToView();">
Is there a better way? For example, running the function from Page_InitComplete handler?
We have a function that changes the iframe height at the window.onload event so we can adjust it to the page contents. The problem is that after clicking in an asp:menu the height its restored to its default and the window.onload event doesnt fire...so we need the event that would fire in subsequent loads (tried window.unload but didnt trigger)
The resize function cant be called on the asp:menu click because the window wouldnt have finished loading so the height calculation would fail...
I am trying to fire a Javascript call when an ASP.net user control to an aspx page. The Web site allows users to add user controls to a page (similar to adding a widget etc to a page like google widgets). But when the control is added the javascript does not fire, only if the page is refreshed will it fire the javascript. IF the next time the website is accessd and the controlis still there the javascript fires too.Do I need to use the RegisterClientScript method to register the call (setAutoTimer()) on the control load or OnPreRender event. In the User control I have this at the start of the ascx file:
we're looking to compress our gargantuan JavaScript files with GZip to speed up the page loads of our site. I know this can be done through IIS, but I can't seem to find a simple step-by-step guide on how to implement it.We're running IIS7.5 on Windows Server 2008 R2.
I've got a VS 2005 app that I've got to make some modifications to. I've got to add a time element to gathering a date. What I'm thinking of doing is allowing the user to enter the date (as they always have been able to) and now the time, and associate that with a new user control that I've got to write. I'd like to upgrade this application to either VS 2008 or VS 2010, and hopefully I'll be able to do that. (There are some open source code apps that we've got in it, which stitch together .PDF files that we generate from Crystal Reports, so that's where I'm not sure how will this will all go.)Anyway, this date/time user control that I've got to write will have to ensure that they user entered both values, so I'll use a couple of required field validators. That's all fine and good, but what I'd like to know is if it is possible to piggy back onto the event of the user not entering the required values? Is there an event of the required field validator I can put code into, so that I can either play some audio file (as in, "You must enter something") and/or show a video?
I have a web page where I redirect the user to if I see that IP is not valid. I want that user's browser will get no response but kept into waiting state, but I also want that my server thread is not blocked for that request. So the idea was that server will response quickly but the user' browser will put into waiting loop to discourage the user. How can I achieve this easily? Is it possible without JavaScript?
When I made an AJAX call to an ASP.NET page, I had a mechanism to return some text based on QueryString parameters. Such as :
Response.Write("<text>");
But in the response, I got a lot of extra information about viewstate status. This does not happen in classic ASP or PHP. Also if I ask for the whole page, it returns it with the page directive
I'm Looking for a free(or Open Source) Sharing Script to put it in my content pages(I do ASP.net). I want to allow my visitors to share contents(ex: articles) in social networks like Facebook or on-line bookmark services like google bookmarks.what's the best way to do that? i found JQUERY SHARING(you can see demo here) Plugin from the web. do you know any better choice!?
I now that I can just define the width and height of a page with the div tag to allow for dragpanels to work, but it messes things up with some browsers when rendering, sometimes shrinking the actual content to allow for the complete page and width to be shown such as on the IPAD. I have tried the Javascript below, but it doesn't work, and whenever I try to resize a page manually, it puts my computer into never never land.
Anyone have a clean Javascript that will change the width and height dynamically as I am moving a dragpanel.
I can move the dragpanel, but it snaps back as soon as I let go so in essense it doesn't work.
Is it possible or easy to create a web page that allows users to drag and drop divs around the screen, and that this would work in a brwoser, whether that is on a PC, and iPhone, or an iPad?
My web page uses a few divs which contain some content, and the user is able to move these around as they wish.
It is currently created using ASP.NET DragPanelExtenders, but if they have to be abandoned, so be it.
To get this workign, will I have to create two versions of the page: one for PC based on mousemove events, and one for iPhone/iPad based on touch events?
I am working on a financial portal and I am having a problem..I don;t know what to call it so i mentioned it as an 'unknown to me' problem..I have a webpage..whenever I click on any button on my webpage, the request goes through..but nothing show up on the webpage..then If I click on another link and then again come back to previous link, then only I see the results of button_click..
e.g.
I have a currency conversion and investment form..so after filling up the form in following way and if I click on "INVEST" then nothing shows up..
so now if i click on any other link and go back to 'buy currency' link I see the result as 'investment successful'
I would like to allow users to call my ruby on rails app as a service which returns a 'div' with html content in it, and embed that div into their app (which will not be a rails application).
For example, assume someone has their own php website that has a header/footer template that gets rendered, and a content area of the page that they need to fill based on some html I generate in my rails app. I would like to allow them, from php, to call to my website, get the 'div' I generate, and embed that as html in their php page.
What I'm trying to do is host a service on my site that returns some html content, but actually show that content as part of another site, so that the end user only sees the other site and never really knows about mine.
Also, I can use javascript on the client to do this if that is the only way, but I would prefer the php app to handle this at the server if possible so the client gets the html embedded from the original server and it looks like it all was generated by the php script that generated the entire page. I also want to avoid using an iframe.
I developed an application form which includes some textboxes for input. When the user click on the button the following tasks has to be done.
1) If page is valid all data should be stored in database
2) A new webform should appear on the same window and the some content of the application form should be displayed in it.
3) When clicking on browser back button it should not post back to previous page.....
I did the first task..and i don't know the code for the remaining tasks. Here is some information
.aspx button control code
[code]....
I opened new webform by using Response.Redirect ("submit.aspx"). Where submit.aspx is the form to be opened after data stored upon the button click in application form.
