I am using some AJAX and some JQuery for Login panel animation in Master page. Also in my home page I am using AJAX Tab container. It works fine when I run the application without login. If I logged in I got the following error when I put the breakpoint into my code,
Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'document.getElementById(...)' is null or not an object,It shows at the following Line at the Home[dynamic] page.
i have found out a way to find controls on content pages by using
var txt = $('input[id$=TextBox1]'). But how to access html elements like "<p>" tag and others in jquery when the html elements are in content page only.
Basically I want to load a HTML document and using controls such as multiple check boxes which will be programmed to hide, delete or show HTML elements with certain ID's. So I am thinking I would have to set an inline CSS property for visibility to: false on the ones I want to hide or delete them altogether when necessary.
I need this so I don't have to edit my Ebay HTML templates in dreamweaver all the time, where I usually have to scroll around messy code and manually delete or add tags and their respective content. Whereas I just want to create one master template in dreamweaver which has all the variations that my products have, since they are all of the same genre with slight changes here and there and I just need to enable and disable the visibility of these variants as required and copy + paste the final html.
I haven's used Windows Forms before, but tried doing this in WebForms which I do know a bit. I am able to get the result that I want by wrapping any HTML elements in a <asp:PlaceHolder></asp:PlaceHolder> and just setting that place holders visibility to false after the associated checkbox is checked and a postback occurs, finally I add a checkbox/button control that removes all the checkboxes, including itself etc for final html. But this method seems just like too much pain in the ass as I have to add the placeholder tags around everything that I need control over as ordinary html elements do not run at server, also webforms injects a bunch of Javascript and ViewState data so I don't have clean HTML which I can just copy after viewing the page source.
Any tips/code that you can suggest to achieve the desired effect with the least changes required to existing HTML documents? Ideally I would want to load the HTML document in, have a live design preview of it and underneath have a bunch of well labelled checkboxes programmed to hide, delete or show elements with certain ID's.
I have a webpage with a select object and a GridView object. For testing my problem i've created asp button and html button. On pageLoad the GV is empty and select is being filled with names. (GV is not appearing)After choosing a name from the select options, the user should click a button and then the GV need to be filled with relevant info.I am having 2 "related" problems:
1. When clicking on the asp button and getting into the click function on the aspx.cs file, i can't find the select object and retrieve the selected option. How can i get this?
2. When clicking on the html button and getting into the button_click function on the aspx file (javascript), i can't find the GV object (getElementByID("GridView1") returns null). I guess that it's because the GV is not loaded initialy since it's empty.I've tried also using callback methods, but the although it seems like i am reaching the GV and performing DataBind(), the GV table won't show on the page.
I want to load a popup when a user clicks a button. The buttons are images located inside a tabpanel. The first time the page is loaded the helpEvents DOES display the popup and the 'click' popup. Then I navigate to Tabpanel tab2, and the helpTickets button doesnt work (doesnt even display the 'click' popup) Then I navigate back to Tabpanel tpEventDetails, and the helpEvents button doesnt work anymore either(and also doesnt even display the 'click' popup anymore) So I think something gets lost in the updatepanel on callback...but what? and how to fix it?
I have a label "lbl1" that I am trying to locate in a content page from the Master page. I want to do it dynamically so I am trying to pass the name of the control (which in this case is lbl1) through as a parameter. I don't get an error, it just doesn't work. If I do an alert to see what the string "temp" looks like, it is correct, but iit seems as if Javascript ignores it. I believe it has something to do with the '<%= not being interpreted correctly by the browser I'm sure it is a simple solution, but I can't figure it out!
I have a gridview inside a user control bind to an object datasource. Now I want to bind the object datasource with a parameter from parent page. For this purpose I defined a public property in user control but how do I pass it with object datasource? I am calling from parent page like myusercontrol.parameter=querystring["id"]; How to bind object datasource with my parameter?
I have a page with some datasources in it. I am doing reenginering of the page itself and would like to split some parts of the page in several user controls. In my code I have an ObjectDataSource object with the following params
This piece of code automatically bind the hidden field "txtAlbumId" to the datasource. In my revision this datasource should be moved to a user control. What is the best way to handle a scenario like this?

I just like to know how to pass a parameter to the datasource of my dllItemCodeFooter and dllItemCodeEdit Drowndownlist which calls my getItemCodeList(decimal categoryID) method in the code behind. The value of the parameter will be seletectedValue of the first dropdownlist ddlCategoryFooter or ddlCategoryEdit).I know it could be done in code behind, but i prefer to bind my datasource in asp page. I want to achieve something like this DataSource='<%# getItemCodeList(ddlCategoryEdit.Seletected)%>'
It seems liken no matter what logic I put in my code, this runs every single time, and because of this, unless I am viewing this particular content page, I get an error.
I am working on some ASP.NET web forms which involves some dynamic generation, and I need to add some onClick helpers on the client side. I have a basic outline of something working, except for one huge problem.
There are multiple HTML tables, each generated by a different ASP.NET web control. Each table can contain overlapping field names, which is causing a problem with my JQuery click event handlers. The click event handler is linking to unintended form fields in addition to the intended form field.
I have provided a simplified sample version of the code below. This code is trying to set the value of textbox box1 when a particular radiobutton is selected in the table with id=thing1. Obviously, the jquery code will be triggered for the form fields in both tables.
The tables are dynamically added to the webpage based upon different conditions. It is possible that no tables will be loaded, only 1 table, or both tables might load. In the future, other tables could be added. Each table comes from a different .net web control.
Other than renaming the form fields to make sure they are unique across all user controls, is there a way to have JQuery act only on the intended form fields? In other words, could the table ID be incorporated into the JQuery code in a manner that does not become a nightmare to maintain later?
i am using the multiview control inside a page and i am trying to find a control using the javascript function document.getElementById. My Problem is that the function returns null cause it cannot find the control. When i open the code of the page from the browser the active view is not rendered so I think thats the reason why I am getting a null value from the function.
On the HTML code is rendered only the first view or the view that is activated on page load.
Is there any way to find a control inside the view using javascript? or I am doing something wrong?
I am hiding a TextBoxin my aspx page like this: myField.visible=false; Now I have a DropDown as well which tries to access the TextBox on IndexChange. The problem is, it cant access the hiffen TextBox and I am getting document.form[0] is Null or Not an Object. How can I solve that? Is the some check for that in JavaScript?
I load an aspx page in iframe inside a jQuery UI dialog to update some data, and after dialog is closed I need to update an updatepanel in parent page. how can I do that? to be more specific, there is a datagrid in parent page and after I edit data in a dialog modal iframe, I want to update the row in datagrid.
I am upgrading a website from .Net 1.1 to .Net 2.0 Framework. My Code is working well in mozilla but the same code is creating one problem in explorerthat is :- "Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'document.Form1.txtScrollY' is null or not an object"It is showing 3 options for every action i do in the net Break , Continue, Ignore.
I am going to outline my setup then where i am failing
UpdatePanel1 - Contents : 3 textboxes and AddButton UpdatePanel2 - Contents : 1 GridView and SubmitButton
AddButton adds new row to DataTable with data from textboxes, binds DataTable to GridView SubmitButton sends data to database. The Adding of a row works to add the row to the gridview, but it won't add a second or third and so on, only adds the 1. SubmitButton belives the DataTable that GridView is databound to is null and won't send anything to the database. How can i get the datatable to persist between the two update panels? Do i use Sessions as my storage location? Page
I have a problem with JQuery when using update panels. My page is structured like this:
Text search Login Update Panel Login form End of Login Update Panel
For clarity I have remove all other page objects. As you can see the login form is inside an update panel, the text search is not. Both of these objects rely on jquery to function correctly (assuming javascript is enabled). In order to persist the functionality after postback with the login form, I use the PageLoad() function. This works ok.
I tried the same with the text search but it doesnt work. I presume its because it isn't inside the updated update panel. At the same time the functionality disappears using document.ready() and I can't understand why it works with neither rather than one or the other.
I have an UpdatePanel with a MultiView inside. I am using jQuery to call the server to run some logic and based on it, change the view in the MultiView. The problem is that the updatepanel is not getting refreshed.
Is it possible to update an UpdatePanel manually using JavaScript or jQuery?
What I have is a TextBox at the top of my page. When a user leaves that TextBox I want to run some server code (it will add a record to my database) then at the bottom of the page I have an UpdatePanel which will get refreshed. The UpdatePanel has a GridView which will have an entry for the record added)
I have a simple page containing a GridView control that generates thead and tbody tags after rendering. In my jQuery script, I have a line that reads this way:
$('#GridView1 thead').eq(0).html()
When the page loads for the first time, this script returns an objects and works well. But when I click a button and cause a postback, it returns null. By the way, the button changes the number of the rows returned from the data source (based on the value of a textbox) and updates the grid.
I have a slide in div to display some dynamic data after button submit in it. If you open the div after page load it displays with message "Click on button".
But after submitting the slide effects stops immediately and not responding at all & even message is not updating in jquery slide box. Below is my code:
Public result As String = "" Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load If Not Page.IsPostBack Then result = "Click on button"
i have a website with three UpdatePanel Control and inside of each UpdatePanels has ONE Gridview and a SqlDataSource Control.
all gridviews are connected to its own SqlDataSource Control. so technically when i run my website all gridviews automatically get their data from their respective SqlDataSource Control and display them accordingly.
but what i need to do is instead of letting all the update panels to load each gridview their data upon Onload event, i need the updatepanel to update on queue, (Technically changing the UpdateMode to Conditional does not solve my problem.) there will be an event which will trigger the updatepanel to update later.
