Apr 26, 2010

Until here the data in the session exists. But on click of a button say ok button to navigate to next page. all the data in the session is lost. But the same works in windows 7 and windows server 2008 not in windows XP. are there any configuration difference in windows 7 and XP.

Session Variables Lost On Postback Using AJAX?

Jun 7, 2010

I'm evaluating using Ajax in a new project and so I've developed a simple web page to test a few things, however even the simplest task seems to cause my session to be cleared. I am using VS2008 with .Net 3.5 SP1 and the page is in my existing solution which has several custom handlers and modules in the web.config. Below is the code I'm using, it's a simple test which puts a variable into the session then on the buttons postback tries to get the same variable, however it always fails as the session is blank.

The Default.aspx code snippet
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" /> [code]....

Viewstate Lost On Postback For .net Sitecore Page?

Oct 27, 2010

I'm getting some strange behaviour with viewstate being lost on postback for a .net application using Sitecore. I'm assuming it might be some config variable somewhere but I'm new to Sitecore and don't really know where to start looking.

UPDATE: Sitecore has now gotten back to us with an answer. We had recently added the dtSearch module, and AutomaticDataBind was set to true in the dtSearch.config which overrides the setting in the web config. We've now removed it and it works fine again.

I've made a mini test if that might help. It's two usercontrols on one page, both with a repeater. When updating the viewstate gets lost so even if I'm binding the updated repeater again the data for the other one will be lost.

Usercontrol 1:

<asp:Repeater runat="server" ID="Repeater1" OnItemDataBound="Repeater1_ItemBind">
<ItemTemplate>
<li>
<asp:Literal runat="server" ID="Literal1"></asp:Literal>[code]....

what might be going on? Let me know if I need to provide any more information. The most annoying thing is that it was working last week but I have no idea what has changed!

HTTPS ASPX Page Redirect To HTML Page Logs User Out - As If Session Lost?

Sep 10, 2010

Building asp.C# shopping app that is using a hosted payment page to process payments (using posting of data to a hosted payment page). SSL certificate is signed and installed.

Flow:

Prelim) (HTTPS) Users authenticate using asp Login control

1) Users add items to cart.

2) (HTTPS)Users go to checkout page.

3) Users finalize their order, then click pay now after agreeing to T&C.

4) Server gets cart data (from MSSQL2005) and sets a transaction cookie (expiry set to 20 mins).

5) (HTTPS) Server Response.Redirects to an html page (in the same folder as the login protected pages).

6) Html page reads transaction cookie data and generates form fields.

7) (HTTPS) Html page posts data to hosted payment page (php).

8) User enters payment info and clicks pay now.

9) (HTTPS) hosted payment page posts info back to a .aspx page that checks if payment OK.

10a) If payment !OK, redirects to a declined page.

10b) (HTTPS) If payment OK, sets a verification cookie (expiry set to 20 mins). Then redirects to another html page.

11) Html page reads cookie data and generates form fields.

12) (HTTPS) Html page posts data to hosted verification page (php).

13) Verification page verifies (of course), if transaction ok.

14) (HTTPS) verification page posts data to a .aspx page that checks if verification OK.

15) If verification OK, process orders and do receipt stuff.

Issue:

This control flow was tested on an unsigned dev environment. SSL was being enforced, if needed on the unsigned SSL certificate. So we'd get prompts that certificate may be bad, but the control flow worked seamlessly.

However, now live with a signed SSL certificate, going from step 5 to 6, we are encountering a situation where some users (not duplicated every time, but verified that it does occur) when they click pay now and are redirected to the html page, they are forced back to the ~/login.aspx page (as if they were logged out).

Things to note:

a) The session did not time out.

b) The browsers have cookies and javascript enabled.

c) I can process the entire flow seamlessly on the same machine with other accounts, and occasionally, the same account.

So, basically, I'm stumped... Is this a viewstate error? A login control bug that won't let me redirect to an html page because it is now using a real SSL? Anyone have any experience with this kind of deal? I'm at a loss for solutions at this point.

Web Forms :: Session Variables Value Lost On Page Refresh?

Jul 27, 2010

I am developing an application using Visual Studio 2010 and SQLServer 2008. My application has two pages and the first page contains a GridView with all the records "User Administration" and when user click on any Username (template field ->linkbutton) I read the USERID like this.

Session["UserID"] = e.commandArgument;
Response.Redirect("UserOperations.aspx");

which takes it to the Data Entry page where user updates the information and save the data.

The problem i am facing is that when I hit the browser REFRESH button couple of times the session variables looses the value which is trouble for me as I am using Session Variables for different purposes.

MVC :: Postback Happens And Data Lost

Mar 3, 2011

I have an .aspx page which consists of 5 tabs. Each tab content is a .ascx page. i.e. i have 5 ascx pages and on the click on eachtab i load the particular ascx page for that tab. Consider i have one textbox and one button on each of the 5 ascx pages. When i type something in each of the textbox and when i traverse to other tabs the data remains on the textbox on all the pages. But when i click on the buttons on any of the tabs , postback happens and the data is lost. Now what i want is consider i type "Mark" on my txt1 on tab1. and i type "steve" on my txt2 on tab2. When i click on the button on tab1 and traverse to tab 2 i want the data to stay on tab2?

Forms Data Controls :: Dynamically Created Checkbox In GridView Are Lost In The Postback?

Mar 3, 2010

In design time I created a Gridview and a delete button in a page test.aspx:

[Code]....

The program stopped at statement "if ((row.Cells[COL_INDEX_SELECTED].Controls[0] as CheckBox).Checked)",

because it cannot find the checkbox created before.

I tried to shift all the code in Page_Load to Page_Init, but the ticked checkboxes are still lost.

I could find the ticked checkboxes names in its request object parameters(this.Request.Params.AllKey) if I setup a breakpoint on the error statement.

Does anyone konw what's happening and how to retrieve the selected rows?

Forms Data Controls :: Gridview Attribute Changed By Javascript Is Lost On Postback

Sep 10, 2010

I have a gridview control that extends the default gridview. I have added an attribute called "hiddenSelectedValues" to to the gridview during the "PreRender" event and I have a private variable that points to the value of that attribute.

I have some javascript code that modifies the value of this attribute based on the user checking or unchecking checkboxes in the grid. I have confirmed that the javascript is indeed modifying the value of the "hiddenSelectedValues" attribute by using Firebug to see the change as it happens.

However, once a postback occurs, the grid looses the updated value of this attribute and I am unable to reference get the updated value on the server side.

How do I keep the value of an attribute changed by javascript on postback?
