Update Design-time UserControl Interface Based On Property Value?
Jan 14, 2010
I've created a UserControl with the following public property:
[Browsable(true)]
public string Text
{
get { return pnlLookupTable.GroupingText; }
set { pnlLookupTable.GroupingText = value; }
}
pnlLookupTable is, as you may have guessed, a Panel control. I can change the value of the Text property in the Properties window and it's reflected in the markup like it should be. However, the design view of the UserControl inside a page does not show updated GroupingText for the Panel. How can I get this to happen?
EDIT:
By request, here is the entire class to which that property belongs. You can see there's nothing special going on:
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.ComponentModel;
using System.Linq;
I have changed some identifiers and other trivial things to protect the proprietary nature of the code.
I should also reiterate that I'm looking at a Web form in design mode that has my control added, and I'm changing the Text property. I want to see the change to the Panel's GroupingText visually in the designer.
Im making a small user control, i was wondering if it was possible to make some sort of comment, that is only visible design time. For example i would like to write in the top of my control that it requires a querystring parameter named userid. This way other developers can quickly see the requirements?
I am working in asp.net 4.5 with VS2013. I have two usercontrols in my aspx page and in my first usercontrol i have gridview with button inside update panel and if i press the button it should pass the value to second userconrol and based on the value i will do some db operation to bind the controls in second usercontrol.
I am wondering is it possible to achieve using AJAX? I need to do this with partial postback without posting entire content of the page.
One thing I would like to improve on for many of my web applications, is the user interface design and the "look and feel" of the sites. To begin looking at how to do this, I thought I would start by asking the community what additional software they use or would recommend to combine with either VS2008 or VS2010.
I need to send emails based on users input time and day (based on their time zone)? Kind of a reminder.
For Example: User input 2:00pm Eastern Time on my server I have different time zone, how to calculate the time and send the email at users time-zone. Its a web application. What is the best way to accomplish it using asp.net c#? If somebody already done it in the past I will be glad to take a look at source code.
1) I have a project where I have both C# and vb coding programs. So on compilation which will be compiled first vb or c#.
2) I have interface in which i declare a property with only getter method (not readonly).I implement this interface, then how could I set the value of this property.
The user control has public properties named accordingly and the page has protected properties accordingly which I've verified have the desired values.
For some reason the values are always empty strings or 0s in the usercontrol, no matter what the page property is.
Can anyone add a complete input about how to create Parent Property with multiple child properties or in short nested properties.
Example: Style tag: which has properties like font, color, display... etc? which accept objects and its value.
[code]....
As soon as Rainbow property is typed, user should get intellisense for list of number of colors. Then accordingly user can select list of those colors and assign a value to them.
I installed Rad Controls. Using that controls, I designed my application pages. At design time, the design is not visible. It shows the following error:
RadTabStrip1Failed to create designer 'Telerik.Web.UI.RadTabStrip, Telerik.Web.UI, Version=2010.1.415.35, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4'
I have a Interface for CRUD operations.and some classes implemented it.I want to design a user control that have two buttons:insert and delete,to reuse this control over my forms.this class must have a instance of my interface to do insert and delete tasks (if I'm right).this is my interface:
[Code]...
my problem is,i can't declare a property of type ISchoolSystemRepository in user control,because i must pass T for interface.
I created an Extender which has a custom property that drills down a list XML elements from an xml file, where users can select xml elements during design-time. This works perfectly fine. However, my code only has a hardcoded xml filename (source of the xml elements list) and I need to change this by maxing the xml file user-specified.
What I did is that I created another control (panel) which has a custom property that when clicked (through the ellipsis), it will allow a developer to select the xml file which is supposed to be the source xml file that the Extenders shall use. The filedialog from custom panel's property works perfectly fine.
However, my problem now is that when I drag-drop my Extender, I cannot find a way to get the property value of the custom Panel Control which contains the xml filename. I tried creating a static variable which I thought the custom controls can share but VS2010 is breaking.
I am creating a interface for User Role Management based on built in membership provider.I want to display all the roles as check boxes for a selected user. I am able to display all the roles in the database, but not able to load the specific user roles. For example, I am able to publish role 1 role 2 role3 role 4 as check boxes. But if the user is already flagged as role 1 and role 3, I am not able to show that data (role1 and 3 should be checked when form loads, but right now, they are not checked)...How do I get the roles as checked boxes display on a page.I am using a repeater control to display roles as check boxes on the page..
Find if the current time falls within hourly ranges and display the start hour and end hour of that range in labels.
Examples:
If the current time is 8:46am, label startTime would return "8am" and label endTime would return "9am" If the current time is 10:01pm, label startTime returns "10pm" and label endTime returns "11pm" If the current time is 12:59am, label startTime returns "12am" and label endTime returns "1am"
I have been working with the C# TimeRange class but not getting what I need.
select distinct tbl.emp_code, b.EmplName, convert(varchar, tbl.punched_date,101) as Punched_date, (select convert(varchar(8),itbl.PUNCHED_TIME, 114)+', ' from Trn_Capture_Data_New itbl where itbl.EMP_CODE=tbl.emp_code and itbl.PUNCHED_DATE=tbl.punched_date and itbl.EMP_CODE='4' and tbl.punched_date >= '03/27/2013' and tbl.punched_date <= '03/28/2013' for xml path('')) Punched_Time
Now i need to Bind it to gridview, the gridview columns should be
Date,IN,OUT,IN,OUT
In punched time the first one should be IN and second OUT. A employee would have punched several time a day. Based on that I should take maximum punches and bring that of columns as IN and OUT in gridvew dynamically. How to achieve this?
I'm having an issue working out how to implement this time based event. Basically, my program needs to send out an email at 12AM monday morning. But the email needs to go based on the user's local time not 12AM server time.
the problem i have discovered is Daylight savings. I used current server time as 12:00AM (my local time) and my actual offset is -7:00 UTC but after the calculation i get -6:00 utc because of daylight savings. If a user was in -7:00UTC then he/she will not get the email at 12am localtime but an hour late.
I currently have a repeater control and inside the itemtemplate I have a usercontrol. This usercontrol renders correctly, but I am trying to assign a dataitem to a property in the repeater control.
[code]...
RequestId is just an Int32. It just doesn't assign it.
I can put the eval outside of the usercontrol just in the itemtemplate and it correctly outputs the right id.
If I remove the whole eval and just type a number in then it works fine. I was using an EntityDataSource and this automatically binded to the repeater. It printed out all the information from the database on the screen without any codebehind. But when I put in the code behind Repeater1.DataBind(); it then started to work.
I don't know why, but hey it's solved. It now successfully passes the value through. I imagine it has something to do with the page lifecycle.
I have a user control in asp.net that i need to dynmically set properties for. The propety and property values are in a dictionary, for example:
Dictionary<string, string> propertyValues; Control c = Page.LoadControl("~/Control.ascx")
I can currently set the properties on the control using reflection, however, with .net 4 and the new dynamic keyword, is there an easier way to do it, for example, something like this:
I built a simple user control called noteEditor. I need to set/get the CommandName property when the control is used in a gridview. I seem to be able to set it just fine but when I to get it I get a null.Here is the code for my user control:
[Code]....
Here is how I use the control in a gridview on the host page:
[Code]....
As indicated by the comment, e.CommandName always returns an empty string.
I have developped a usercontrol, but I can't seem to find how to databind on a property of the usercontrol in a detailsview.The property is defined this way:
<Bindable(True, BindingDirection.TwoWay)> Public Property Value As String Get[code].....
I have a UserControl that is on a masterpage... I have created the following property for the userControl in the codebehind:
[Code]....
Now I need to access this control and change that property from an aspx page that uses the masterpage with the control. I'm stuck I cannot seem to find the controls property. I can find the control and make it visible or not but I cannot find the property to modify control...
I have build a usercontrol in asp.net, and there is a property like the following.
Everything works fine when the bound value is an integer. However, if the bound field return a null from database, it will return a invalid cast error.
change to a nullable int is not desirable because it changes the how programmer work with the control's property in code-behind.
this is about ASP.NET, ViewState, UserControls and loosing the values of my properties. It is an classic question by know, I know, and even though I have searched here and on Google for a resolution to this problem, I havent succeeded. On the contrary, the more I test different things, the less I understand it seems.
On top of this I am using ext.net and their so called DirectMethod's but I dont think that has much to do with this problem. There are numerous questions I have and I hope that this text will be fairly readable and understandable =)
The UserControl
I have a UserControl, Customers.ascx, that contains some Properties. The "most" important is *_CustomerId*. The _CustomerId is set in code-behind, in ext.net's "DirectMethod" like this (code below from the Page Customers.aspx):
I just started learning silverlight by creating a silverlight application in Visual Web Developer 2008. I have a public property defined in the user control. How do I access this property value in the aspx codebehind page?
I am trying to bind a string that contains the ClientID of one user control to the property of another control within a GridView template column. I get the error 'lblVar02' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level. How do I do this?
