I work with Visual studio 2005 and Sql server data base. I extract 1 million rows from a database and I put the rows in a Sql table. With a simple direct extraction, in a few minutes I complete the operation:
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand(query, cnSql)
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
cmd.Dispose().
But, if I must select and modify some fields between extraction and introduction, it takes a lot of time!
I work in this way. I extract rows from Dbase, Table1, and I put all into a Collection using dataReader:
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand(query, cnSql)
Dim coll As New Collection
coll.Clear()
Dim dr As SqlDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader()
I replace some fields with the string "YES".
Dim toRepl As String = ""
If dr.HasRows Then
Do While dr.Read
toRepl = dr(5).ToString
If Len(toRepl) <= 3 Then ToRepl = "YES"
collPrel.Add(dr(0).ToString)
collPrel.Add(dr(1).ToString)
.................. ..............
collPrel.Add(toRepl)
collCount = collCount + 1
Loop
End If
dr.Close()
cmd.Dispose()
Now, I insert all into a SQL Table2:
Dim a As String = "", b As String = "", c As String = "" etc.
For i = 1 To collPrel.Count Step 6
a = collPrel.Item(i).ToString
b = collPrel.Item(i + 1).ToString
.............. ...............
f = collPrel.Item(i + 5).ToString
queryIns = "INSERT INTO Tab (name, adress, etc)
VALUES ('" & a & "', '" & b & "', '" & c & "', etc. )
Dim cmdIns As New SqlCommand(queryIns, cnSql)
cmdIns.CommandTimeout = 600
cmdIns.ExecuteNonQuery()
cmdIns.Dispose()
Next
This way to work goes right but it is necessary a lot of time for completing the operation.
I am making a news portal ,there i want to display the different ad of different size using adrotator ,dynamically from database.
View 1 RepliesI'm getting a List back from a WCF service and I want to set it to be the datasource for a grid. When I databind I get the error that "Deviceheader" is not a property of someObject.
<td><%# Eval("Deviceheader.DeviceID") %></td>
That is true, it's not a property, it's a public field
public class someObject(){
public DeviceHeaderDc Deviceheader;
}
How can I databind to these fields since they are not implemented as properties? Any suggestions? I'd like to avoid writing wrapper objects with property implementations if at all possible.
how to use adrotaror on a page the pictures reside on Database
View 1 RepliesI want to add controls (or simply texts) to a ListView inside the ItemTemplate at run time.
The reason is that in my application I don't know in advance how many controls (or texts) I should insert.
For example I have to read the fields from a database table and insert in the ItemTemplate controls according to those fields:
<ItemTemplate>
<%# Eval("fieldname1")%> - <%# Eval("fieldname2")%> - <%# Eval("fieldname3")%> - .....
Afterwards I have to bind the ListView to the table content, so I need to preserve the <%# ... %> structure for the binding
I have a DetailsView which has two fields - one that is visible, one that is not. The first the user fills out, the second I want to auto-populate. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a way to set the value in this second invisible field. I've tried adding code like this to the Page_Load:
If Not IsPostBack Then
DetailsView1.DefaultMode = DetailsViewMode.Insert
Dim txt1 As TextBox = DirectCast(DetailsView1.FindControl("Type"), TextBox)
txt1.Text = "administrator"
End If
But this returns an error of "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." how to accomplish this - either using the method above or another method? The hoped for end result is that when a new record is inserted via the DetailsView that this record will include the username (entered by the user) as well as the "type" of "administrator"
I am using hidden fields to save some preset data, but upon postback they appear to disappear.
Here's what my controller actions look like:
[Code]....
The view is coded like this:
[Code]....
But when the POST action receives the object back, some of the fields have become null. The FormCollection, however, contains all values. I realize I could just take everything from the formcollection but it's probably better practice to use the object, right?
Can I put multiple fields value into the text properties of a link button? My below codes doesn't work. I would like to display "000001-1", "000001" being the job_id and "1" being the job_seq and separated by a dash.

If I am going to use the asp.net membership and roles, the asp.net database includes an aspnet_Users table that has the userid and email address. If I have custom fields is it best practice to maintain a separate usert table and link on user id or to add fields to the aspnet_Users table?
View 1 Replies I'm trying to bind custom object to details view.
The problem is that enum property fields are not show.
Is there any way to show enum property fields in details view ?
I put some example code below (I do not specify any rows mappings, they are generated dynamically because different kind of objects are bound to details view):

I have a SQL Table with 2 columns, a type and a value, how can I set something up where the property is the type and the value can be set by the user? Do I basically just go through every item in the table (only 20 rows) and make a property for each one such as:
[Code]....
Is this the right way to do it? is there a better way? what about performance?
I have an asp table with 15 rows and 12 columns, each cell as an ID and the cell names are like Cell1, Cell2, Cell3, etc.
I need to change the background color of the cell but the name of the cell comes from a string.

strCell = "Cell3"
strCell.bgcolor = "Red"
How do I "convert" this string to access the cell properties?
I have asp.net Forms View.
I have three textboxes to lookup three different product codes from a product lookup table.
When you enter search criteria in a Textbox it would popup listbox control with Products and
when user selects the product it populates product-id back in to textbox.
I have lookup table and listbox working. However, My problem is I can't figure out how to pupulate TextBox2 if search Criteria was typed into TextBox2and to populate TextBox 3 if the search criteria was typed into textbox 3 etc.

I tried this as an example
=FormatDateTime(Fields!StartDate.Value, DateFormat.ShortDate)
It looks fine in report viewer howeverver when I export to excel it formats it as General.
