I have two projects (Project A and Project B), these projects are hosted in different locations and on different servers. Project B want to access the files of Project A. which technique is required to fulfill my requirements.

For cross-cutting concerns, things like: Logging, Caching and DAAB are used in projects these days to implement proven and efficient source code from either Microsoft or other third party vendors such as Log4Net for logging purposes.
I have a single project. and I have two folder in it. In the 1st folder I have a class named Class1 and in the 2nd folder I have a class named Class2. Can anyone tell me how I can access members of Class1 in Class2. I have tried by adding namespace in Class1 and Using that namespace in Class2. But it is giving error. It is easy to access classes or their members from App_Code folder. I don't want to put my classes in app_code folder.

The application is working fine but suddently at one point application URL prompts for the authentication. When we (the support team) checked the server, we were able to identify that the access was denied for some of the main files (like web.config, default page). When we enabled the access the application started working fine.
I have existing web application project in which i need to add new subdirectory. In this subdirectory i need to add WCF service.Question is: Can i use different AppDomain then services from root directory? Also, can i add new global.asax just for this subdirectory?

My ASP.NET application logs transactions (both inside AND outside of databases), and therefore needs read/write access to text files within various directories within the root of the website - in ADDITION to the normal database access.
In this scenario, how can I safely allow my ASP.NET application to write data to the web folders? I have a thread-safe DLL that performs the actual work, so I don't believe I need to worry about multiple sessions writing to the log files at the exact same time - assuming my DLL will only be running in a single instance/process that will be shared between numerous ASP.NET instances/processes/threads.
But I'm more concerned about file access permissions. I've heard that ASP.NET applications generally aren't allowed access to the webserver's local file system, and that this may even restrict my DLL from getting the correct file access. Can I grant my application file-access to the web-driectories?
i know some thing about the MVP pattern... but when you want to develop a project(web project) based on the MVP pattern from where we need to start... i mean which component we need to start developing first ...

I have written all Master Page and User Control in one Web Application Form Project called "CommonUI"(Separate Folder), which I couldn't refer to Other Web Application Form Project(Separate Folder).
I got an error as "unable to access another project or web application".
The error is because each project, it treat as a seperate Web Application, How to over come this problem.
In Framework 1.0 I did same thing in Framework 1.0, where I have all User Control as One Web Application Form Project(Separate Folder) and it is referred in other Web Application Form Project(Separate Folder).
I am doing a code review of a web project and want to make sure I have all the compiled dll's. I was provided only three .dll files for static analysis but wonder if I am missing any because when I looked at the actual code base and project it contained 20 various .cs files.All that I have opened shared a single namespace, but what was odd was the namespace was not the name of any of the .dll files. How does .net compile the application in the dlls that are found in the /bin folder? how does it get the names of the dlls? How do namespaces fit into this?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying create unit testing for an existing website project (not web application project). I cannot access my under test classes unless I use accessor. However, if I use accessor, I have problem to initiate an object with passing arguments. I only want to create unit tetsing for App_Code. After searching web, and I found that I'd better to create a web application project using my current existing website project. From solution explorer, add new project ->using existing website. My questions is: what impact will have for my current website to create the new project? Should I just convert my current website to web application? If do that, will it cuase problems on my website? So in the following code when I call base.OnLoad(e) I am getting errors in the base class because the variable myString is null. In fact all the variables for the Base class are null. I can do

I recently updated my VS2010 website project from .NET 3.5 to 4.0. Everything was working fine in the website project. Today I decided to migrate the website to a web application project as I have learned this is the best way to work in .NET. I split out all my class files into a separate class library and copied all my other content into my new project. Then I updated all the references and web.config.
When I build the class library, everything works great. The problem is happening when I try to build/debug the web application project. It is acting like all the controls are missing and it is also throwing a bunch of compile errors about the public properties I have in my master pages.
Control errors: "The name 'INSERT CONTROL NAME HERE' does not exist in the current context"
Master page errors:'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' does not contain a definition....
It is giving these errors for every single control and master page property in my entire solution.I notice when I add a new web.form to this project, it also adds a filename.aspx.designer.cs file in addition to the .aspx and .aspx.cs file. My existing files do not have these extra files since they were created in a different .NET version.
UPDATE: It seems I was missing the step where I need to right click on the new application folder and select "Convert to web application". I just did that and it seems to be a little bit better...
Now it is choking on Literals that are inside single quotes:

It doesn't see this literal when it does the conversion... Is the above valid code or should I implement that functionality another way?
I am starting a new project in ASP.NET (With silverlight) - I would like to get expert opinion about how to design the data access.I can use DataAccess Layer with SQL helper, but the challenge is every new field that I add needs to be added in the sql helper.I am trying to see if there is a way to design the system, so that it appears in the front end when a new field is added. I don't want to have in the ASPX files (binding in controls) I want to have ability to change items in code. Essentially I am trying to see the best option to have a database application.

I did some unit testing and changes on the converted web application project. However, my co-worker was doing UI testing on the web site project. We need put UI testing and unit testing to the web application project. Is it possible to move the UI testing code that my co-worker did to the web application project I am working? View 2 RepliesI have been creating my BLL and DAL with in the same project as my UI. These have been logical tiers in their own folder with in the same project, that's with in the same solution. I want to try to create a solution that is more like a truly multi tiered app.
I've heard people talk about using a separate projects for their DAL and BLL. My understanding is that these would be separate dlls that would contain the appropriate code for each of the these tiers. I have a few questions regarding this.
Is this a good way to do this? It seems like a logical approach. It also seems like the next step in me moving towards an architecture that's truly tiered. Should I do this differently?
Should the projects for the BLL and the DAL use the same namespace? I think I read that some people use a namespace for each of these that indicates what they are, such as BLL and DAL.

Currently my Repositories layer holds a reference to the Domain layer.From my understanding injecting a UserRepository to the UserService class works very well with unit testing as we can pass in fake user repositories.So with this architecture it looks like my Web project needs to have a references to both my Domain and Repositories layers.But is this a valid?Because historically the presentation layer only had a reference to the Business Logic layer.
We have a web solution. In it we have 2 websites and a core project in the core project are some classes that encapsulate data that a database utility class searches using sql and populates the entities. The entities are stored in generic lists.
We have just upgraded our project and I want to start using linq, I was wondering the best way to go about it. SHould I creata new linq project? Or Should I just use ling on new pages only and stick to our current data access layer for pags that already exist?
Its vital that we start using linq as it will save us time in the future
I am using asp.net 3.5 and I am trying to create a project structure (asp.net web solution with UI/Business/Data access) which would be like a base and ready for any new projects in my team and all could use this standard structure only as a base(outer boundary) and they can expand the structure.
