View 3 RepliesI am having problems with expanding the DIV's height when I click to expand the TreeView control.
What is happening is that I have a TreeView control inside an HTML DIV tag, but when I click the '+' sign to expand the TreeView nodes, the inner content of the node disapears behind that of the DIV tag. Instead, I am getting vertical scrollbars to roll down to view extra content. This is not what I want. What I want is for the DIV's height to expand to fit the TreeView's content.
how to convert the cs (example.cs) file to ascx (example.ascx) file. i don't know how to convert the file .I am novice of asp.net. i want to all the steps to convert ascx file.
View 3 RepliesI have to build a few ascx partial views in my MVC applications to encapsulate re-usable functionalities as well as archive SOR and SOC. However, I encountered challenge how to encapsulate the business logic that drives MVC ascx views.In webforms, the code behind of an ASCX control can handle a button click event and browser still shows the same page with only one postback. How can I archive the same thing in MVC? When ~/Address/Edit/2 includes an ascx partial view with a button on it that calls another MVC action - let's say ~/ShareController/CommonAction - what is the best way for the CmmonAction to return to the very same view that includes the ascx file?Perhaps I am missing a common pattern in MVC web development?
View 5 RepliesI am looking to render excel from an web control. I have code that works from a web page, but when I run it in an ascx.cs file it doesn't do anything.
Is there something about being in an ascx that makes a difference?
Here is my code:
Response.ClearContent();
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=file.xls");
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel";
Response.BinaryWrite(result);
Response.End();
Response.Flush();
Is it possible to use the Response.AddHeader particularly Im trying to use the "Refresh" of it. I need it to pause before it redirects but the place where the code is being ran is in a ASCX in the codebehind. It does nothing when I have the following in my Codebehind:
HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Refresh", "6;URL=Default.aspx");
Any way I can redirect a user in the codebehind on a ascx page?
I am having difficulties how to construct my question, but if I have to put it simply the situation is that I have categories of products. I have an aspx with a repeater on the left that lists the categories. And I want the products to be listed on the right. Category number is variable so I made an ascx with a DataList in it. When I try to do foreach category, ascx = new ascx(); then the DataList within this ascx control is null.
ps: what I want to do is to preload all the products (thre is not much) and hide the divs and fadein fadeout them using jQuery when a category div is clicked.
rightnow it is using jQuery.load(); and I don't like how the images load, cuz they download from top to bottom. Progressive gifs alsdo not an option. site demo is here [URL]
how can i access a public function in an .ascx file using C#?
View 3 RepliesHere's the source of a blank .acsx file I created called LogOnBox.
<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="LogOnBox.ascx.cs" Inherits="ECommerce.Views.Shared.LogOnBox" %>
I want to drag some labels, and textboxes etc and give them style using a CSS file. How can I associate a CSS to an acsx file?
So the problem is the following :
i do have own user control. which has some javascript file in script tag included like this
<script type="text/javascript" src="../somefile.js" ></script>
or some javascript code directly on the ascx page. everything works if i place this control somewhere in aspx markup. but if i add this control to the page dynamically to some UpdatePanel place holder on postback (this is logic i can not alter), control renders itself and then i get js error message, which says that functions which are placed in somefile.js are not defined/are null. Why is this happening ? Is there anyway to force js including in this case.
the code amount is huge and i was not able to provide a simplified example with the same error,.
The script is included but somehow the functions are not defined. I'm novice to js, so is it possible that just the script is included but not executed, so the functions are not declared ???
The interesting is that if on some page my custom control is declared in aspx.
Okay, maybe it's a bit pedantic, but do ASP.NET user controls HAVE to have an ascx extension?
My reason for wanting to know this is purely academic. I made the statement to someone that they usually have an ascx extension, but then I had the curious thought of if that was always true or not.
I have a function that Localize the text of my control.
// code behind
lblName.Text = Localization.GetLocalValue( "Updated" , this.Path );
and I know that i can call a function inside ascx file.
// ascx file
Text='<%#Global.Convert( (DateTime)(Eval("CreatedDate")) %>'
How can i Get Path Property in ascx file To call GetLocalValue ?
I have 163 .resx files. I want to count the words in these files, because my want to translate the sentences (my task is the localisation).
Now I'm opening each file in Ms Visual Studio and I count words manually. How can I count words in all files? And the second question: can I use a program what grab strings from .resx into an editor where I can translate them and save bacn into .resx files? Or must open the files one by one and edit the text fields manually?
I'm using a user control which uses a dropdown. I call a parameterized stored proc to to populate it. I don't know how to pass parameter '_ReportName' from main aspx file to ascx file.
HTML Code:
<asp:DropDownList ID="dropSortOptions" Width="200px" CssClass="Dropdown" runat="server"
DataSourceID="sqlDataSource" DataTextField="Option_Desc" DataValueField="Option_ID"
AutoPostBack="True">
</asp:DropDownList>
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqlDataSource" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionStringName %>"
SelectCommand="sp_SortOptions" SelectCommandType="StoredProcedure">
<SelectParameters>
<asp:ProfileParameter Name="ReportName" PropertyName="_ReportName" />
</SelectParameters>
</asp:SqlDataSource>
I am currently displaying the date via the Eval method in an ASCX file:
Code:
<%#Eval("BirthDate") %>
However this appears as mm/dd/yyyy when I would like it to appear as dd/mm/yyyy. Is there a global setting where I can change the default date format or is there another way to change it directly in the user control ASCX file?
I have a page called main.apsx and on that page I have a multiview with a couple of view panes. In main.aspx I also have an have a buttons.ascx file with a few link buttons. When these buttons are clicked I want them to show the the selected view panels in multiview in main.aspx.
I cant seem to figure out where to put the action code for the link buttons. Do I put it into my buttons.ascx.cs file or into main.aspx.cs? I presume in buttons.ascx.cs, but if I do that, how will the buttons find the multiview control?
This is the code for on of my buttons in buttons.ascx.cs
[Code]....
When I run it like this is gives an error
The name 'MultiView1' does not exist in the current
The name 'View1' does not exist in the current
i have two buttons, which point to some onclick-methods in my code-behind file. inside these btn_click-codes i want to start adding pure html-code to my page, which was told to me in this forum having done by using ascx-files. note: there would be no code-behind in case of using the ascx-files.
however i do not see a possibility to load these ascx-files within btn_click-code? how to do?
in order to give you an idea of my html-code i have pasted two of them here:
[Code]....
maybe this is the complete wrong approach (as i.e. i believe that body-tags should not be included in .ascx-code). in this - how to do better?
I am working on an application that has several user controls (.ascx) of which I do not want to give away the code of. I have tried to search about it, but didn't get very far. I am using visual web developer 2010 express edition, so I cannot publish my website. Also, it doesn't have dotfuscator. What can I do?
View 11 RepliesI'm using vs2010, asp.net 4 webform.Is there anyway which i can update a code behind file (ascx.cs) file without compile the whole site.because i just want to debug some ascx.cs file, and compile a big whole site will cost 1 minutes at least.
View 1 RepliesI'm building form validation controls for our C# ASP application. The bulk of the work is handled by a BaseValidator control (subclassing System.Web.UI.UserControl), which also has the markup for the validation output. This is then extended by subcontrols like PasswordValidator, that provides the Validate method and any extra fields needed by that validator control.
(The end goal is to have controls like <uc1:PasswordValidator ControlId="txtPassword" /> which we can plop into any form with minimum duplication.)
However, PasswordValidator.ascx.cs cannot access the form elements defined in BaseValidator.ascx; the only way I've found to do so is to duplicate the markup in each subcontrol's *.ascx file. How can I extend BaseValidator.ascx.cs and access BaseValidator.ascx's markup in the subclass?
I'm developing second language support for the site. So I made duplicate .ascx and .aspx files for existing ascx.cs and aspx.cs
Most of the time everything works fine.. but suddenly I'm getting:
Type 'ctrl_car' exists both in 'c:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727Temporary ASP.NET Files
zhdengined072cc729d5698bApp_Web_xdmblegv.dll', and in 'c:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727Temporary ASP.NET Files
zhdengined072cc729d5698bApp_Web_gkptrzo2.dll' (translated from russian)
ctrl_car ctrl = (ctrl_car) LoadControl("car.ascx");
I have few such strings of code... and same error occurs with one of them. But WITHOUT any changes from me with those files. To fix thaat bug for some time I need to delete solution and website folder and reget them from SS. Solution was converted from vs2005.
I have a form in aASP User Control (.ascx) file. Maxlength does not work for the multiline textboxe hence it is generated as a textarea, which has no support for this attribute. I could maybe use some asp validation, to prevent submission of too much text, but I want to prevent it to be possible to even enter too many characters, just like is possible for single line textboxes... I don't know if the control has any onload event that I could use to add attributes to the textbox from code behind and and combined with javascript fix this or anything..
View 1 RepliesI have an aspx page with multiple modal popups. These modal popups are trigger in the page behind code using .Show() and .Hide().
This is what I have in the .aspx page for the particular modal popup under discussion:
[Code]....
The example below demonstrates the type of calls I am making to the modal popup extenders. Basically using the Datalist item command, the datalist commands are responsible for triggering my modal popups.
[Code]....
They all work fine after postbacks except the "activityReport" case (the last one). The only difference with this modal popup is that it contains a user control and all the postbacks are happening in the user control. So the problem is that in the last case whenever a postback happens in the user control then the modal popup is close.
1. If I separate the modal popup and place it in a page all by itself and trigger it to .Show() through a button click in the page behind code then the modal popup doesn't close. See below example.
[Code]....
2. The button click event in the test page looks as follow:

The error message is: "File WorkitemAction.ascx.cs was not found".I swear that the file is there. It is visible in the solution explorer as a subnode to WorkitemAction.ascx plus the WorkitemAction.ascx.designer.cs
