But the ID from the Request.Form is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26, etc.

I have stepped through this code to test it and I am puzzled as to why the update isn't going through to the DB. When I run the SQL statement in SQL editor it updates fine. All variables are getting the proper values when I step through.

In general, If multiple users thru an application try to update the same tables in database simultaneously, then by default on what basis the priority will be given.Like if we don't have any extra logic for the locking implemented.

"Transaction (Process ID 110) was deadlocked on lock | communication buffer resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. "
The only thing my page is doing is inserting/updating data into a table in sql and the thing I can think of is because multiple users are using the same page to insert/update data? Will that cause deadlock?
I have version 2.6.10 in my project. I have not modified any of the settings. The generated code is getting updated on build. I added a new method to a controller. It doesn't show up in the Views property. I added new javascript files that don't get added to the Scripts class.
Also, what is the correct method to update to a new version of T4MVC when it comes out. Do I just copy over the existing files in my project?
Scenario:
I am creating a custom gridview control which has a custom CheckBoxTemplateField column (deriving from TemplateField class). This template field column has custom Checkboxheadertemplate (implementing ITemplate) and CheckboxItemTemplate (also implementing ITemplate). In InstantiateIn method of both templates (header as well as Item template), I am adding a checkbox control which has Autopostback = true.
My requirement is:
I want to mark all the values in the binding column of datasource if checkbox in headertemplate is checked. I dont want to mark only rows visible on grid. I WANT TO MARK ALL ROWS IN DATASOURCE. I want to do this in _CheckedChanged event of checkbox in header template.
Problem I am facing: When I check/uncheck the checkbox in header, it postbacks. so in OnCheckedChanged event, gridview's datasource is null. Secondly, in any event of gridview, I could access only those rows of datasource for which corresponding rows are visible in gridview through Gridviewrow.DataItem property. But I want to set it for all rows in datasource.
In a database table, let's say I have a non-null field named "Description" with a default value of (''). If I drag this table onto the .dbml view in Visual Studio and click on the Description field, the properties will indicate that the Auto Generated Value is set to false, thus ignoring my default value of (''). This is fine, as long as I always explicitly set a value for Description when I perform an insert/update, but I ran into a problem today when I tried to do an insert without specifying a value for Description: Cannot insert NULL value into Description. The default value I set for the field was being ignored. To try and fix this error, I went back into the .dbml and set Auto Generated Value to true, and tried again - no error this time, but the data I tried to insert was ignored, and the default value, (''), was inserted instead. I do not want to explicitly set every field to a default value programmatically when I perform inserts. Is there any other way to resolve this issue other than making the fields nullable?
View 3 RepliesI have a simple datatable with 2 fields, one a primary key which I will call PK and other which I will call COL1. I have used the dataset designer to generate update/insert/delete methods on the tableadapter. On my development system two update methods are generated wit hthe follow signatures:
Update(PK as System.String, COL1 as System.Bool, Original_PK as System.String)
Update(COL1 as System.Bool, Original_PK as System.String)
On the production system, however, the latter signature is not generated. What is more preplexing is that prior to today, production operated similar to test. Obviously somethign changed, but I have been unable to identify what.
Unfortunately the method being used now is the latter. Now I can create my own method with a similar signature, but this problem isn't unique to this datatable/tableadapter. I am very hesitent to make thsi change throughout the application, and even more so in touching the several other applications which I fear may have similar issues (though those rely less on generated udpates).

I am stuck in chart controls...Here is my prob... There is a ListBox containing some items...when user selects multiple items from the list box I want to generate a dynamic table with the number of columns same as that of the number items selected in the listbox. And for each selected item I want to show a seperate chart in the columns...Currently I want the same chart control for every selected item (i.e. a static hard coded chart that i will replace later by dynamic values)....I am using a method that draws a chart control using a sample dataset... I am calling it each time when a new column is created..Also the DrawChart method executes for the first column only and throws an index out of range exception! after the first execution...my code is not working...here

How to display it in a gridview
MVCThe generated ADO.NET Entity Data Model loses ordinal positions of columns and reorders Entity Set column names alphabetically. This causes the columns in a new MVC VIEW to appear alphabetically and needs to be reordered by hand. I am using MySQL Database.
How can I retain the ordinal positions of columns?
I have used this before with no issues. Now I get to the page with the detailsview using parms I pass with the key to the row. When the page opens the row I want to update is displayed.
I am having 2 issues. One when I change any of the fields and hit Update (the Edit button),
all rows are updating not just the row displayed. The second problem is I have an update_date and an Updated_by field with code in code behind in the Onitemupdating event and they are not updating at all. (This bit of code works fine in another page I have to updated similar fields on an insert).

I have two tables - Student and Advert.
I want to do the following;
1. Student is logged into their account (session is authenticated)
2. StudentID is primary key for that table, it is a foreign key for table Advert
3. When student is logged in, they create advert
What I want is their student Id to be input into the advert table when this new advert is created. How is this possible?
I'm assuming I need to use a pivot table from what I've found so far. However, every one that I've seen has not had the date setup like I have.

I want to do this for 10 months... bottom record being the current month (or last month). I would also like the Date to format to January 2010 I used the above date format because that is how it is in the table. Basically, I need to know how to create the pivot table to search the table for 1/*/10, 2/*/10, etc

Anyway, I have a VB script for entering a row of data into a table by a web user. When this row of data is entered, I wish to take some of the values from the columns of the "primary" table, and have that data automatically create a new row of data in a "secondary" table. I think I'm part of the way there, here is my script:

"ProductsByMfr" is the "primary" table - the table that the user adds data into when the button click event is fired.
"DealerPricing" is a "secondary" table that I wish to have some of the data from the newly-entered row in ProductsByMfr copied into. Am I even close here?
