Icon/text On Top Of Current Page While Waiting For Db Call?
Oct 4, 2010
using vb.net/asp.net 2005.
I have a page where the user will select criteria from drodownlists and then click the "go" button.I would like to create some kind of progress template or progress-bar so that the user will know that the query is in progress. What are the best and easiest options for this?I just want a simple thing like a rotating sand clock,
I have to call a function to run a report through a web service, then call another function to get the data but only after the 1st function has finished processing. How do I make c# wait till the first function has finished processing to run the second function?
my code looks something like:
NetworkCredential Cred = new NetworkCredential("uid", "pw"); ReportWebService reportService = new ReportWebService(); reportService.Credentials = Cred; string s = reportService.runReportAsync("0ede9884e6394daf73fa418e9bffd4fc"); string report = reportService.getReportData(s);
This code will break because s is not set since the function (runreportasynch) has not finished running to produce s.
I am doing Ajax call using jQuery and my URL is like
http://localhost;3327/DummyAps/Demo.aspx
In Demo.aspx page i have a WebMethod, which i wanted to call. While doing jQuery ajax call i am giving the URL as "/DemoWebMethod", where "DemoWebMethod" is the Webmethod present in Demo.aspx page.
But while calling the WebMethod it is calling the URL http://localhost;3327/DummyAps/DemoWebMethod but i want to call http://localhost;3327/DummyAps/Demo.aspx/DemoWebMethod.
I know that changing the URL from "/DemoWebMethod" to "Demo.aspx/DemoWebMethod" will solve the problem but can i do it without writing that (because i have some problem with that).
I'm working on an ASP.net application in which I've multiple web parts in a page. Each web part has its own data source pulling data from them and showing it. When a user tries to load the page I want to load the page instantly and asynchronously render all the web parts with the data.
Is it possible in VB.NET to change defaults settings on a page? For example I have..
Label1.Text = "Hello World!"
This is my code on the page load, now I want to give the user the ability to change that to whatever they want after clicking a button. So someone types "Hello!" and presses the button, how can I make it save the file with "Hello!" instead of "Hello World!" so that everyone else who comes after that user will see "Hello!" and not "Hello World!"? Basically I need to know if it is possible to edit the page using that same page.
I have one page from which i have to redirect to a page which is in some other application or can say in other domain.I want waiting screen till the page is loaded.I want to do it by jquery.
I want to show a waiting image/progress bar on page load event. In page load event, some code is being processed for displaying a report which takes 1/2 minutes to display on the aspx page, meanwhile the aspx is being empty and nothing is displyed, this is not so userfriendly. So, I want to show an image indicating page is being processed. I tried searching in google and found some code samples but couldnt achieve my target. How to implement this. Requirement is nothing but: Display an image/progress bar until the report is processed.
Is there a way of stopping the main page waiting for a usercontrol to load before it can finish loading?
I have a usercontrolthat has to do a lot of DB calls which can take a few seconds making the page slow to load. Ideally I'd like the main page to load straight away and then the usercontrol content appear when it is ready.
I want to display gif image when a page is loaded...I have a dropdown list when this is selected Gridview is populated with data from database..I want to show a gif image when this gridview is populated...how to implement this without AJAX...
i am develpping a alarm application when user minimized this it should be minimized appear near the system clock,local area connection icon(as hidden icon).
i assigning an imagebutton to an image url in css causes my image to still show, but also the icon for an image if there isn't an image. If I declare it in the html instead, it shows fine, only when I try to use CSS for the referene to the image url.I use the following syntax for the image in css
background-image: url(image1.jpg);
Again, it is finding and showing the image, but it is also showing the windows image icon.
I've got a gridview on my page that gets its infomation from a database. One of the columns shows whether a news article is featured or not. It currently displays a 1 or 0.
I would like to change it so that it shows a tick icon if it's a 1, or a nbsp; if it's 0.
i have seen many site where individual web parts load with busy icon when page loads. without using web parts how can develop a page where individual section will load with busy icon when page loads.
I am looking for a way to figure out the current URL that the page is currently on (NOT what the asp.net page currently is, but where the CODE is at). ie. My web app is located at: [URL] my code is: String page = [URL]
String response = GetResponse(page); //basically the above code goes to the website [URL] and parses the HTML within it and brings it back and populates the variable string "response". But, sometimes the [URL] throws me a curve ball and redirects me to: [URL] I want to be able to use a try/catch to be able to "catch" the error of a different page: ie validateUser.aspx. So, I need to do to this: try
{ String page = [URL]; String response = GetResponse(page); } catch { //code to check the behind URL to see if [URL] is the URL OR IF [URL] is the current URL }
understand I know how to find the URL of the current page the web app is on. I need to find the current page that threw the exception during the execution of the code behind.
I have an accordian inside a nested gridview that is controlled by an imagebutton. The Imagebutton is a plus sign "+" and the expand/collapse functionality is working great.
What I need to do is when the user expands the accordian is to change the plus ("+") sign to a minus ("-") image. I am trying to do this with javascript but its not working.
I have the following list of projects WebUI (WebSite) , DataAccess (ClassLibrary) , LogicLayer(ClassLibrary). Those of the project are purposively crated separately.But my scenario is, need to create only one solution file, then add all of the above projects under this solution file. So that i can be easiy interacted and changes can be made by opening solution file only instead of opening each project individually.
Simply all of the layer projects are under one roof means one solution. I tried it by adding solution first, then i added already existed project into this. But once after added already existing project the solution icon vanished by showing the icon of recently added project. By this way I could not add another project into this section too.Hope this is the way the basic real-time projects are created; to achieve the centralized control over architecture based projects.
I am building in error-logging into my site, and want to be able to get hold of the current page name that the error occurred in, as well as the specific subroutine or function, to then pass to a VB.NET function. Is there anyway to get hold of this information without hard-coding the names manually? For example,
Dim strCurrentPageName = ??? Dim strCurrentRoutine = ???
I have a webpage that I'd like to display a different shortcut icon depending on whatever the status is of the app. I have the page pin'd in Firefox so I can always see the icon. How to accomplish this?
I am using JavaScript's PageMethod functionality where I am invoking a PageMethod which works like a gem. However I am having an issue in accessing the HttpContext's state which returns me a value "SYSTEM" for
HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name
which is not the actual current User Name.
I know there are couple options like storing HttpContext.Current in a Session or saving Context's state in some other custom container but given a web farm environment I am assuming that this will not work as expected.
Here is the code I am working on with
function MyFunction(){ PageMethod.MyPageMethod(); }
here is the signature of the server method
[System.Web.Services.WebMethod()] public static void MyPageMethod() { // gives me "SYSTEM" var user = HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name; }
Also if I use the above code to access user name in OnLoad event of the page then it works fine and returns me the CurrentUserName.
I am trying to get the above code to work in an ASP.NET Webform... :)
So I am wondering if there is a way to access the current actual user in page methods without making use of sessions.
