C# - How To Load Different Parts Of The Page Asynchronously Instead Of Waiting For The Whole Page
Mar 31, 2011
I'm working on an ASP.net application in which I've multiple web parts in a page. Each web part has its own data source pulling data from them and showing it. When a user tries to load the page I want to load the page instantly and asynchronously render all the web parts with the data.
I want to show a waiting image/progress bar on page load event. In page load event, some code is being processed for displaying a report which takes 1/2 minutes to display on the aspx page, meanwhile the aspx is being empty and nothing is displyed, this is not so userfriendly. So, I want to show an image indicating page is being processed. I tried searching in google and found some code samples but couldnt achieve my target. How to implement this. Requirement is nothing but: Display an image/progress bar until the report is processed.
i have seen many site where individual web parts load with busy icon when page loads. without using web parts how can develop a page where individual section will load with busy icon when page loads.
I have four repeaters, that are all independent to each other. They all bind via web services on page load and then display the results.
There is a noticeable delay however and I would like to know how to achieve the following if possible.
On page load I want to begin asynchronously binding the repeaters so that as soon as the first one is bound, its result display and then the next starts binding.
I looked at update panels but from what I have read they do not have a page load trigger.
MyMasterPage.aspx and content page MyDefault.aspx. MyMasterPage.aspx has one input button [value="Menu-1"]. When user click the button, the button will pass value "Menu-1" into TextBox1Default1 at content page MyDefault.aspx, and then refresh UpdatePanelDefault1 at content page MyDefault.aspx asynchronously.
My problem is the post back is full post back when refreshing UpdatePanelDefault1. I would like asynchronously post back during refreshing UpdatePanelDefault1. copy the full code MyMasterPage.aspx and MyDefault.aspx below, and then paste / overwrite it into your blank aspx page for testing. I am using VS 2008
I have one page from which i have to redirect to a page which is in some other application or can say in other domain.I want waiting screen till the page is loaded.I want to do it by jquery.
I have a page where the user will select criteria from drodownlists and then click the "go" button.I would like to create some kind of progress template or progress-bar so that the user will know that the query is in progress. What are the best and easiest options for this?I just want a simple thing like a rotating sand clock,
Is there a way of stopping the main page waiting for a usercontrol to load before it can finish loading?
I have a usercontrolthat has to do a lot of DB calls which can take a few seconds making the page slow to load. Ideally I'd like the main page to load straight away and then the usercontrol content appear when it is ready.
I want to display gif image when a page is loaded...I have a dropdown list when this is selected Gridview is populated with data from database..I want to show a gif image when this gridview is populated...how to implement this without AJAX...
I hv Declared two Master page one Is Base and Derived.. Base Page Load is working but when i hv written load controls in Derived Page Load Using C# it's not working..
I make an asynchronous call from one web service to another web service deployed on different server? The scenario is that an ASP.NET webforms page will call a web service in an async manner. This particular web service will then make another async call to a second web service deployed on different web server. This this possible to achieve, and what additional steps or code would be necessary to make this happen?
i want to update different areas of my MVC page after one action (say a click) occurs.
how, i use ajax, and wrapping the entire area where all these parts need to be updated is counter intuitive as the ajax data being sent back would be close to the entire page.
so, i have a few partial views, - but the problem is, each action only returns one view! how can i return multiple views from this one action?
i know a popular solution is to just hammer the server with multiple async javascript ajax requests for each "part" of the view, but this really is unnecessary and inefficient, reconstructing and destroying the page (say) 5 times for just one action, when it should just occur once, and once it does, the server should manage all the partial views then and there.
On the home page of my site I want to display a lot of products which have images which are quite large. Currently the page is taking so long to load that it is actually timing out and the page fails to display!
In MVC, or just ASP.NET in general, how can I load an image asynchronously? Basically what I want to do is display the details of the product and just display a small loading image e.g. ajaxload.info. until the image is loaded.
I assume this is going to require some javascript/jQuery...
I am setting up an asp.net web parts portal for some stuff. I have a [hopefully] really easy question. How can I make the page have 3 major columns?
Right now I have two columns using <div id="leftpanel" style="float: left"> and <div id="rightpanel" style="float: right">. But I cannot figure out how to get a panel in the center. The right panel is basically in the center and there is not a css float: middle/center. So how is a three panel web parts page accomplished?
Here is the situation. I need to hit ~50 servers and grab some data from a file. I then want to display a few rows for each in an ASP.NET GridView control.
I tried doing this with Threads/ThreadPool and successfully gather all the data in session.
What I'd like to do, and what I am having a hard time figuring out, is update the grid for the user after each server is done loading.
If I put the databinding code in the thread, it will only display whatever has loaded by the time the response is sent back to the client. If I take it out of the thread, I'd have to wait until all threads were done to send the response, and that doesn't do what I want.
I seeing some stuff about Asynchronous Client Callbacks, but I'm not sure if that's what I need to be using. I have no idea how to manipulate a GridView from Javascript.
I am using ASP.NET and SQL Server. I would like to load data from database asynchronously and show data which are partially loaded immediately.Suppose there are tons of records in a query result. After 3 sec,It loads 20% then I have to process and show 20% data immediately, not waiting for complete response. I know $.Ajax in jQuery to load data async. Is it possible to process partial response, Not wait for complete response and show it immediately.
I am using a third party service for location time(zonal). If I pass latitude and longitude of the location with service URL it returns the time of that location in XML format. But the problem is some of the time this service gets too much slow so because of that my home page gets stuck because its a synchronous call of that service.here my code-
I am working on a VWD Walkthrough: Creating a Web Parts Page in VWD, [URL]Here I created a user control, DisplayModeMenu.ascx. Somehow, when running this webpage, the DropDownList of this user control showed only a Browse selection, no Edit selection. Clicking the "Reset User State" link showed the following error message.
The Walkthrough did not list any information on setting up the "ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool" or additional tags on Web.config. How can I fix the errors?
BTW, is it true that User Control is not recommended for VS 2005/8 any more.
Personalization is not enabled and/or modifiable. The Enabled property must be set to true, and a registered personalization provider must be selected. The current user must be granted the right to modify personalization state.
Let's say you had a page like an eBay auction, where some of the content (top bidder, bids, history, etc) needed to be up to date but other sections would likely never change, like the description. I'd like to know the "right" method for getting that static section cached.
The "cheezy" solution would be to code it up in a separate javascript .js file as a bunch of "document.writeln()" calls, but that's plain evil and ugly.
If I made it a Content section of a master page, that might get it cached at the server, but the client has no way to know that this particular section of the page will never change.
I could IFRAME it but I don't always know the dimensions.
I'm sure this has all been done before, and as much as I love my own wheels, I'd rather not reinvent this one :-)
I want to call a javascript method during page load. I am using application.master of the sharepoint server 2007 as the master page . In the content page i want to call a custom method named OnLoadFun() during loading the content page. I have written the function inside script tag in the PlaceHolderAdditionalPageHead id section of the content page.
[Code]....
How do i call the OnLoadFun method so the i is being called onload time. i tried putting window.onload=OnLoadFun surrounded by script tag within the PlaceHolderMain content section.
