.net - More Effecient SQL For Retrieving Thousands Of Records On A Vew?
Oct 5, 2010
I am using Linq to Sql as my ORM and I have a list of Ids (up to a few thousand) passed into my retriever method, and with that list I want to grab all User records that correspond to those unique Ids. To clarify, imagine I have something like this:
List<IUser> GetUsersForListOfIds(List<int> ids)
{
using (var db = new UserDataContext(_connectionString))
{
var results = (from user in db.UserDtos [code]....
Essentially that gets translated into sql as select * from dbo.Users where userId in ([comma delimmited list of Ids])I'm looking for a more efficient way of doing this. The problem is the in clause in sql seems to take too long (over 30 seconds).
I am using oracle as back end. In database there is a table with 5000 records and 160 columns. i want to display all these records in gridview(in asp.net, c#). But it takes more than 10 minutes to fill the dataset.
I have created a table in my Oracle database and am trying to add / edit / delete/ query the records. This table already has 4000000 records. Now when I try to query the database, it takes close to 3 minuetes to return records. I have tried creating indexes, but was not successfull so far.
Following is the structure:
User : varchar(20) Fac : varchar(10) Prm: varchar(100)
know in asp.net 1.0 the grid display controls would pull all the data in, and then provide paging but the paging was done in memory.Are there any smarter controls that provide paging where they only pull the data relevent to current page being displayed?ie. select 10 rows for the current page, instead of doing a select of ALL the rows in the table.
I'm trying to format a data bound value as below, but I keep getting a space as the thousands separator, i.e. the displayed text is always "12 340.00" when it should be "12,340.00".
I want to retrive thousands of record from the database. Please tell me the the most efficient way to do this. I am using sql server. I want to bind A gridview with these records please let me know the most efficient way to do this so that the loading time for the page is reduced
MSCharts is displaying a period (.) instead of a comma as a thousands separator on my y-axis despite my culture settings in web.config being set to "en-AU". How can I fix/debug this?
After insert a grid or any other tool into an aspx page it generates enough code for that tool(for ex.): <dx:ASPxGridView ID=ASPxGridView1 runat="server"></dx:ASPxGridView>...
But,after adding any property to this control (like Show group Panel) it generates more than 3000 lines of code in aspx page () and after adding any other tool the code is increasing in a enormous way...
How can I reduce the code, maybe there is a property(settings) in DevExpress option...
The website is over half way done and the functionality for the blog is (except for adding posts) is already implemented and working correctlyI have a SQLExpress 2008 backendBlog posts are rendered on the page with full HTML markup within a label control.
All of the above is done and working. Though I am essentially new to creating websites with ASP.NET, CSS and SQL, I am sure that I could simply carry on and make a login page with some controls that would allow me to add records (blog posts) directly to the database on the host server. However, I am fearful of doing this because I know that malicious code can be passed in this way. Also, because of my lack of knowledge, the only way that I know of to pass the code from a control to the database is to disable validation for the page the control is on. Without a doubt I do not want to do that.
So what are my options for getting blog posts into the database? Is it safest for me to fully create the post in html and update a copy of the database that resides on my local machine? If I do it this way, how can I merge the records from the database on the local machine with the records on the remote server?
i have a question regarding grid view. i have done almost all work i needed. but one thing i want to do is i have set 4 of page size of grid. so when i show records on the web page i want to set a iframe after first two records then iframe and then two more records like i have shown in the example image. i have used LINQ with C#.how to do it. if you people want i can show you my code.
I have a datagrid control which is bound to a table which containing more than 1000 records. And i want to show only 25 records once a time. I have used paging in datagrid. But each time the next page index is set, query is fired again. This takes lots of time. So what is the easiest way to bound data in this case to improve performance.
im tryin to create repeater from code behaind using C#. The data bind is working good, im tryin to put some pager. the pager is half working. i can see the pager links at the bottom, i can see the the code split the records to 10 lines each page as i set it but when i click the next link the records stay the same it wont changing for the next 10 records. my code
i have 500 records to show in webpage. i am using DataList in that webpage. if i use direct binding it is slowing down the performance of the page and is taking time to load. now i have used update panel and i want to append data records by records(i want to append as first 50records and then next 50 records something like)
iam using an empty div in which i am assigning values through an external javascript via ajax call iam also using an fck editor what i want to do using an internal javascript i want to set the contents of that div in the textarea of fckeditor but in the internal javascript when iam accessing the contents of that div then it is showing "undefined"....
The name will get displayed in the boundcolumn of a datagrid. I was able to get a attribute with a syntax alike this: (but when changing the xml struture it no longer holds a attribute value)
string name = nav.GetAttribute("name", "")
But have no luck getting the value with a nav as of yet. The purpose is to be able to use it for the following object so i can put name into it.
test t = new test() { Name = name, Questions= new List<Questions>() };
On my page, whenever a DetailsView is updated, I must audit the changes into a database. On most pages this works perfect, as there were just textboxes - however on a page I am working on right now, with dropdownlists, my code isn't working.
Basically, what the code does is captures the Updating event of the SqlDataSource, creates a datareader to look at the contents of the row before it's updated, compares the contents to the parameters in the Update query of the SqlDataSource, and if one has changed to log this in a field in the Audit table. An extract of my code is below:
while (reader.Read()) { for (int i = 0; i < reader.FieldCount; i++) { try { if (reader[i].ToString() != [code].....
When the control is on a dropdownlist, it seems to never go 'into' the IF even though the fields are different. Do I need to do something special to compare the values of dropdownlists? Note I believe the value is stored as an int in my table.
