Using VS 2008 / 3.5 Ajax, and have a page w/a gridview that takes 90+ seconds to load, and need a spinner to pop up while loading. I have seeen lots of samples on how to do this on cliick event and sorting, but none on initial load of a form. I have added the update progress, update panel and all that, but do not see how to do this on the load event.
View 2 RepliesI have a detailsview which has two ajax toolkit text editors and can take several seconds to load. I would like to display a spinner graphic while the detailsview is loading as it can also reload if the values of a dropdownlist inside the detailsview are changed. I had it working using an update panel and updatePanelAnimation but the problem is that the form has a file upload and it won't post the image from inside an update panel. I have the spinner inside a div element and I've been trying Page.Init, Page.LoadComplete and the like to try to display the spinner while the page is loading and hide it when the page has loaded. Can I somehow hook these up to the detailsview to display a spinner while it's loading?I'm also having a similar problem with a page of FileUploads. I would like to display a loading graphic while files are uploading but it's using FTP to upload the files and I can't find any way to do this.

Otherwise coming to my question, where I'm struck after trying above thing at myself and failed then had to go around the Ajax way of doing this. Now I'm using Ajax call over the onclick event of each hyperlink from top navigation and it's succesfully loading external .aspx pages (for example,[URL]. The problem is when user comes on the application on first time, it only shows the .aspx page which has a navigation and a Ajax content place holder which is programmed to be filled with contents on click event.
How to load Ajax contents into the Ajax content place holder on page load without a click event?

The above error occurs with gridview control , when used with template field columns with item template / and edit templates etc.
updating a row within gridview, at the time of loadiong it loads perfectly fined, but when tried to modify an existing row within gridview control, then it produces the error. Make sure the grid view control has to be a child control which manages the child table info with in a master form. to reproduce the above problem the grid view must be loading the child records info of a master within the masterform, meaning both master data and gridview data all to be managed in one single form.
I had to replace gridview control with datagrid and then it worked perfectly fine. I wasted almost 4 days of my time., there is no way we could figure out the problem. here is the full info of the problem.

i use script manager and i do what ever the tuterials say for adding ajax toolkit .
i want to use button confirm extender but when the page wants to load give me this error:

I want to create a page with 4 UpdatePainels but when this page loads in the browser only the first UpdatePanel will load and others will be hidden. View 2 RepliesI have a website which uses the latest AJAX Control toolkit. On my pc, the website is loading perfectly well. The page makes use of a tab control and an update Panel - AJAX Control toolkit.Unfortunately when I uploaded the website online, on the shared web server, the website gives the following 3 errors (on IE) :
1) ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load
2) 'Sys' is unidentified
3) 'Sys' is unidentified
The page finally loads, however the ASP.NET Ajax controls do not load (Tab controls and UpdatePanel). The rest of the page loads perfectly well. I made some searches online, however still cant find a solution.
Facts:1. The site contains an Ajax Script Manager Proxy2. The web.config states that the site is not in debugging mode3. Tried to create a fresh new virtual directory and problem still persists. 4. On my Development machine the website is 100% functional.
i have a beginners question. I would like to build a website with n areas with usercontrols inside for different actions. For example one usercontrol should show up last n logged in users, or another usercontrol should do a long running operation and should show some calculated information on sales information etc.
Building these controls and the page for this is no problem without AJAX, but how could i make it, that the n single usercontrols load AFTER the base page is loaded with an progress bar like "Loading data. Please wait." and when its finished it should show the information.
How could i make that? I think that this is possible, cause i saw it on several websites.
My first testing was to put two or more updatepanels and in each update one usercontrols. But that didnt work.

I have a page with two CollapsiblePanelExtender controls on it. The page is a multi-stage process which posts back to itself several times as the user steps through the process. All the page controls, includung the CollapsiblePanelExtenders are in an update panel and the page is derived from a master page.
When the page first loads, the CollapsiblePanelExtenders don't work properly - an open one will close on clicking, as epxected, but they only re-open intermittently and quickly reach a state where they won't re-open at all. However, once a user has initiated a postback by clicking on a form button, they work fine from there on in.
I can't work out what's causing this problem. Simply making the form post back to itself on load doesn't do anything, and neither does running the code that's initiated by the button click. I found - quite by accident - that inserting a StartupScript with an error (any error at all - just insert the the letter "a" in a script tag will do) into the page fixes the problem! But obviously that's not a satisfactory solution.

View 3 RepliesI went to the Code Plex site and down load the latest toolkit. Then followed the instructions on how to set up the toolkit to the letter. When I first loaded the toolkit everything worked. But now every time I start up my computer and start VS all the AJAX controls I have on any page has the green squiggly line underneath it and the error says:Element <AJAX Control Name> is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the web site, or the webconfig file is missing.The only thing I can do is delete the Ajax Toolkit tab then add the tab again and then "Choose Items..." and load the Ajax controls again. Then I have to add an AJAX control from the toolkit to any webpage. Once that is done all the green squiggly lines go away and I can continue.This is becoming an incredible pain. Please let me know what I can do to fix this.

created a new website (Build Target 3.5)
I then made a reference to the AjaxControlToolkit.dll where it created a new Bin folder and added a whole load of folders below plus the dll file apprears.I've also installed the AJAX tool bar where all the Ajax controls are available.
Then on a new page I added the Editor control which rendered the page as the following
