Accessing SiteMapNode Container.DataItem From Outside Of Parent Repeater?

Feb 13, 2010

I am trying to access the current 'active' top level node from a sitemap repeater from outside of the ASP.NET repeater used to render it, this is for CSS styling purposes as I want to place the child nodes on the subsequent row with different styling horizontally. At present I have the following code which I can't get to display correctly using CSS.

[code]....

I would like to display the child nodes on the next light blue element which I can do perfectly well from a seperate div if this was not rendered using a child repeater. In the image below Blog and Services are top level nodes and their subseqent nodes (2 for each) should be displayed on the light-blue row below. Is this possible?

Forms Data Controls :: Passing Repeater Container.dataitem To JavaScript Function?

Sep 16, 2010

I am collecting user roles into a single dimension string array.

I have a repeater that its source set to that array. The repeater template includes list of checkboxes for the values in the array.The checkbox text is set to: Text='<%# Container.DataItem %>'

All is good till this point.

But I am trying to call a javascript function triggered by clickign a checkbox and pass it the container.dataitem, but the javascript doesn't seem to be reading the value and either complain about string not being in correct format or that treats the container.dataitem as a liter. This is the trial that didn't work (I tried many different things too):

DetermineVal(<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem) %>);
determineval is my javascript function

Can I do that with a single dimension array?

Jquery - Secondary Repeater W/ ObjectDataSource Databind Event Fired From Another Repeater's Click Event?

Mar 29, 2011

I'm having trouble managing how to call upon databind from clicking on a row over an already populated repeater that will populate data regarding the row clicked TO another repeater on the same page.

I've succeeded doing that with postback, calling a jquery click event of that row, taking the data of the specific row and passing it onto a "Querystring" and after postpack, it will be pushed into a Session which the ObjectDataSource of the secondary repeater will recognize and populate the data tables accordingly.

The problem is, I must do it without a postback or in other words purely on client side.

C# - Accessing A Control Dynamically Added To A Placeholder During An Event

I'm creating an ASP.NET control dynamically based on a value selected in a dropdown; for instance the field can be a textbox or a checkbox (for now), and then it gets added to a placeholder control. However, I'm unsure how to retrieve the value - using the placeholder's FindControl method returns null although I'm specifying the ID when I create the control.

Accessing Session In MasterPage Load Event After A UrlRewrite

Jul 15, 2010

Situation:In Web.Config we have CustomErrors turned on with redirectMode="ResponseRewrite".In Page_Load of our MasterPage we access the Session property of the Page.

Problem:When an Error occurs on any page the user gets redirected (via Rewrite) to our Error.aspx Page. There in the Page_Load of the MasterPage we access the Session and get an HttpException telling us to enable SessionState. But we have the SessionState enabled, definitly.

Question:How can we access the session after a UrlRewrite in the Page_Load Event of our MasterPage?

Application Accessing Event Log On Windows Server 2008 R2?

Feb 21, 2011

Can anyone explain why the following happens:My ASP.NET application requires access to Application event log.When I access web application initially, it returns "Security" exception (which is expected, as I haven't granted permissions to write to Application event log yet). Then I give read/write permissions to IIS_IUSRS group on the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetserviceseventlog. As a result of this action my web application starts working.Now I remove those permissions I've granted to IIS_IUSRS group. But my web application keeps working (although I'd expect "Security" exception raised again)So, why web application keeps working, although permissions to write to Application loghave been removed?

Forms Data Controls :: Accessing Data Generated By A Repeater?

Apr 22, 2010

I have a repeater that dynamically generates the sum of integers upon a button click (a random number gets stored in an sql database). The sum works fine and I get the appropriate output, however I would like to grab the sum and put it back into my C# code so that I can perform operations with it (it's the accumalated score of a game of blackjack so want to check if they are bust etc.) Here is my code:

<asp:Repeater ID="Repeater1" runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" >
<ItemTemplate>
<label runat="server" > <%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"a") %> </label>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:Repeater>

How do i grab the DataItem "a" and put it back into my code?

C# - Event Handler In Masterpage Accessing Controls In The Client Page?

Jan 4, 2011

I have a button on a masterpage, which when clicked, calls a method that takes an EventHandler previously saved to the viewstate, this method is on the client page, and executes it:

protected void Save_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
this.SaveButtonEvent += (EventHandler)ViewState["saveEvent"];
if (this.SaveButtonEvent != null)
{
this.SaveButtonEvent(sender, e);
}
}

This then calls a very simple method on the client page:

protected void Button2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Label1.Text = TextBox2.Text;
}

However, the value of TextBox2 is incorrect, it is the value of the text box that was set when the page loaded (or if any other item on the pages changes it), the new value is not passed.

If I add a button to the client page, that calls the Button2_Click event directly, it get's the correct value.

Is the reason I am not getting the correct value of the text box because the Event is called from the master page?

I should add, that this button is created dynamically, and the event delegate will vary, which is why I have to set it at run time. I need a way to set the delegate on a click, and persist this until it is changed again.

Web Forms :: User Control Accessing The Parent Page Load Event?

Mar 4, 2010

I have an EDIT.ASPX page and on that page I have some labels and textboxes and a user control. I listed all the related codes you can have a clear picture - not all of the codes are given me a problem. ONLY ONE.

HELP ---> On the Uer control (SiteTemplate2.ascx) I have a DataList that is being populated by the database and that works fine. I have a
CHECKBOX on the user control page each time the user check the CHECKBOX the user control content totally disappears from the EDIT.ASPX page. There is no error message -- I believe this is a post back error but I don't know how to fix it.

Goal: Each time the checkbox called (CHKBSideBar) is clicked on the user control page all of the page content should stay in place that include

EDIT.ASPX Page and the refeneced USER CONTROL. I should be implement a CheckedChanged Function without either of the pages lossing DATA. I need to be able to access post back event from the user control of the Edit.aspx page. When the user click a box on the user control page how do I keep the same Page_Load event on the edit page. I need to reference the Edit page from the user control.

Note: The edit page loads the user control (SiteTemplate2.ascx)SEE CODES BELOW

I know this is a lot and thank you in advanced for your help. I tried to include all the pages that are key players. I must user the user control bacuase the user can select different template so eliminating the user control is not an option.

VS 2010 - Content Page Accessing Event Handlers From Two Different Master Pages

Jul 1, 2013

I have a ASP.NET content page where the master page is set dynamically. Both master pages contain a print button and an associated event handler for the click event of the button. Unfortunately I receive a run-time error when I attempt to dynamically access the event from the master page that was not initially assigned. Below are code snippets:

Page_Load():
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim strPageTitle As String = "Evaluator Data Form - Instructions"
If Page.MasterPageFile.Contains("masEvaluators.master") Then
Dim mp As Evaluators_masEvaluators = CType(Me.Master, Evaluators_masEvaluators)

[code]....

which produces the following error when I load the page and reference the "masStaff.master" master page:

System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'ASP.staff_masstaff_master' to type 'Evaluators_masEvaluators'. at Evaluators_EDF_Instructions.Page_Load....

I can solve the problem by adding a print button to the content page, but that defeats the purpose of using a master page.

C# - Accessing The Form Collection In An IHttpModule Causes Event Handler Not To Get Called On Default Page

Mar 18, 2011

I've created a simple sample site to demonstrate the issue. In it, I have a Default.aspx Page that has a button on it:

<asp:Content ID="BodyContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent">
<p><asp:Button OnClick="ButtonClick" Text="Button" runat="server" />
</p>
<asp:Label ID="output" runat="server" />
</asp:Content>

The code behind just sets the label text on the button click:

protected void ButtonClick(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
output.Text = "Button Click!!";
}

I then have an IHttpModule that gets called for every request:

[code].....

And now it's broken again! So to make a long story short, just by accessing the Form collection on the request in the IHttpModule, I somehow screw up the PostBack, and the event never gets fired.
