I have gone through several posts on this forum about adding a linkbutton to an updatepanel dynamically. A lot of them say just give it a unique ID and some say you have to register add an AsyncPostBackTrigger to the triggers collection. I have tried both and neither work. I have this simple test that I created - the code is below - there is nothing else in this project but the code you see so I know nothing else is interfering with it.
I have also seem people complaining that the linkbutton causes the entire page to postback - in my case nothing happens... I have seen people talk about having to add the triggers on the page init however I can't do that - I am dynamically creating menus based on a selection in a listbox... (not in this simple test but in a larger project) I am using Visual web developer express 2010 if that makes any difference.

However, in the original page the gridview just shifts to bottom of the page. I don't know what is causing this to happen. I have other button on the grid which opens the DetailsView in another page, but that works fine. Why grid moves to bottom?

Sometimes they only have to input 1 part number, sometimes 50. I want to have 1 text field where they input the first part number, and if they have another one, they press a "more" button. The reason I have to do this is: There will be 6 major DataSets to be used together few times in same report, it is not make sense to build a huge Matrix for all of them together. View 2 RepliesI have a simple user control which contains a textbox and a dropdownlist. I need to add this control multiple times to my page then save the details to my db, validating each control. When they re-enter my page I need to load the user control for each record in the db populated with the data they entered. They can then edit the data, delete the row or add new rows.
I'm trying to find the cleanest most efficient way to accomplish this. I realise I would need to re-add the user controls after each postback re-populating the data. Would the best way be to add each row to an arraylist or list of type object, save it to the viewstate and re-add the controls with data on postback, or is there another method which would suit?
