Right now my ASP page has a text box and a submit button, what I am trying to do is once the user hits the submit button load a drop down list.
The drop down list should not be visible before the submit button is pressed

I seem to be having a problem loading a gridview using 2 cascading drop down lists. Before I implemented the Ajax cascading drop down list extenders and I just had regular drop down list the gridview that is supposed to load when users choose the appropriate data from the 2 drop down list appears when the submit button was triggered.

When the button event is triggered it looks for the specific value in the second drop down list and calls a specific stored procedure to load the gridview. Now after implementing the cascading drop down lists the page just posts back - there are no errors whatsoever.
n a form I have multiple group of controls which are grouped using validation group property. I want to assign validation group to asp.Button dynamically on client side using javascript on the base of item selected in drop down list.
Here is JavaScript which I am using, but it is not working. It shows validation group undefined but actually a default group is defined.

In a multigrid i have validating two controls like date and amount.it is validating correctly when i press the tabevent.when i press the save button it is not validating.iam using two validations gruops and two validation summary.Then in save button i have also tried onclientclick() function with javascript it s working fine but if i give the correct value in date and amount records not saving how to over come this.

i have a buton with some button1_click event code. as is it works just fine, however when i add client side script, essentially a confirm with yes/no this code is not executed. how do i work around this i am using ajax i want to keep UseSubmitBehaviour to false. I am very new at this so there is a very good chance i am missing something.
View 3 RepliesI have a link button in a repeater control. the li element is drag and droppable using jquery. when the page loads the the link button works perfectly, the jquery that is attached and the server side code both execute. when I perform a drag and drop then click on the link button it doesnt not fire. when i click it a second time it does fire. If i perform 2 or drag and drops in a row the link button doesnt fire a as many drag adn drops as i before it will fire. for example if if perform 3 drag and drops then it will take about 3 click before the events are fired.

I'm trying to write code that responds to a button click event that will make an asp.net drop down box reveal its list. Hence, this will eliminate the need of the user to actually click on the drop down list. Can someone write out the code for this in c#.
View 9 RepliesIs it possible to populate the values of a drop down list inside a repeater when the user chooses to activate the drop down list? I have a page that has 2300 rows of data generated by a repeater. The users have the option of showing a drop down list or not. If the drop down list is shown, right now I bind the values in the drop down list at the time the repeater is generated so they are available immediately.However, this adds an additional 2mb of data to the page, which increases the amount if time that it takes to render the page. I am being asked to decrease the page size. The idea they have is that if I only load the first value of the drop down list into the repeater, the amount of data on the page would drop significantly (which it does).
The problem becomes, how do I then load the remaining items into the drop down list when the user SELECTS the drop down list? These aren't static values, they are completely dependent on the data row key, so I have to go out to the DB and get the values for that individual row.I thought maybe AJAX and jquery, but can that be done inside the repeater?Ayone have any ideas as to if/how this could be done? Personally, I think the users should be educated that it is going to take an additional 5 seconds for the page to load if they choose to display the dropdowns, but the business is hesitant to go that route.

when i m selecting the BlockName withought selecting any item from ddlScale and ddlresolution then i m showing alert msg.

1) If I have already given the data type to d as DropDownList, why do we need to typecast it again to e.Item.FindControl("dd1"). Is it because it will typecast this to the data type of the selected item in Drop Down list?
2) Why do we need to write this in Item Data Bound Event of the DataList?

It has it's own little "framework" and conventions for developers to follow when extending/customizing its functionality. I am currently extending some of it's administrative functionality, to which the framework provides a contract to enforce implementation of the GetAdministrationInterface() method, which returns System.Web.UI.Control. This method is called during the Page_Load() method of the page hosting the GUI interface.
Problem: I have three buttons in my GUI, each of which have been assigned an Event Handler. My administration GUI loads up perfectly fine, but clicking any of the buttons doesn't do what I expect them to do. However, when I click them a second time, the buttons work.
I placed breakpoints at the beginning of each event handler method and stepped through my code. On the first click, none of the event handlers were triggered. On the second click, they fired.

i am currently developing an asp.net project. there is a previous, next, and cancel button that the user can utilize, but the problem is that everything is broken into controls so that if they hit the browser's back button it will reset everything and take them to the very beginning. i would like to capture the onbeforeunload event and trigger the previous button click event (i.e. treating navigation like clicking the previous button).
