Configuration :: Add A Handler Or MIME Map To Allow Downloading Scripts?

I created a script for Internet Explorer which can be installed using GM4IE (Greasemonkey for Internet Explorer) and it has the extension .gm4ie.
When I try to give the download link to this file on my server, it gives this error: [URL]
page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map.
How do I add this this handler or a mime map and where do I add this?

I need to get the mime types in an IIS7 environment. They should be in:
<configuration>
<system.webServer>
<staticContent>
<mimeMap...
As I understand it, in IIS7 if I can get to it I should see both custom additions in my web.config as well as the mime types defined in the IIS manager at the machine level.
I don't understand how to get to this data. I have messed with the configurationmanager but I am not getting anywhere. I can get a section names system.webServer but I don't see any of the actual data as colleciton of properties or as xml.

I added a could of new MIME types to IIS7 per the instructions. I also modified an existing one.
On my browser, I still see the 'old' MIME type of the modified one.
Tried iisreset, app pool recycling, etc.
COuld there be some .config file somewhere affecting this?

I have an ASP.Net app that downloads MS Word templates (.dot) files from our IIS 6 server. I download the templates in client-side script using the ActiveXObject('MSXML2.XMLHTTP') . It works like a champ!
The problem is when I update a template file on the server with an updated version. When any users on the site go to download the updated version, the old one comes down. Hard for me to believe, but it's happening. I have the 'Check for New Versions of Stored Pages ' option check as 'Everytime I visit a webpage'.
It seems like the original file is in a cache somewhere - I'm not an expert in IIS 6 - so am I missing something in the II6 Setup?

I have a web site using Forms Authentication that downloads a PDF file specific to the user from a page. On the development server I have it working fine, on the live server it checks to see if the file exists and fails (correctly) if it doesn't, but does not load the Dialog Box to save/open/cancel if it does exist. Any ideas ? There are no events logged, the code is as follows and by the way I have tried various combos of WriteFile/TransmitFile as per other forum posts - many combos seem to work on development machine(!!) but fail on live...

I am not sure if I have found the right forum for this one.
the problem is:
I have a .licx file in my rootfolder.
I am getting the error:
Error 53 Unable to resolve type ' <add type="TabStrip" version="7.0" />' C:inetpubwwwrootCrop_ApplicationCrop_Applicationeo_web.licx 7 Crop_Application
,which I get for all the types that are in the xml file(i just gave one of them).
A friend told me that I have to add the type .licx in the MIME type in the IIS .
The problem is that I find the MIME type, I add the extension type .licx but I do not know the MIME type for .licx

I have created a Custom 404 handler. This page is handled successfully when a URL includes a page (http://mysite.com/baddirectory/mypage.aspx) however when it does not include a page (http://mysite.com/baddirectory/) the custom page does get called and I am presented with a typical 404 message

I've created a Web application (VS2008) that contains a single Generic Handler (handlername.ashx) and a web.config. I've also added a Web Setup project to use for deployment that uses the primary output from the Handler project. Install works without any errors and all the referenced DLLs are installed in the target location, with one issue. It doesn't install the ASHX file or the web.config.
Publishing the web app to the target location works as expected (includes both DLLs and the ASHX/Config files).
Is there something specific I need to do for the Web setup to include the ASHX/Config files?

I have a new virtual server, subsite. but I get the feeling I may be still be inherting from the root config! Even though I have included <clear/> within both the <connectionString> and <httpModules>.
The main website works (web1) along with one of the subsites (web2) however the 3rd subsite (web3) gives the below error.
e.g.

http://web1/web3

I have added a new handler mapping (Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit.) with command

I create custom HTTP handler for auto generating file and I want to tell IIS7 to serve current request like normal static file because I need to use IIS and web.config file to control compression setting and any other HTTP header of current requested file.I know. there is an internal class called StaticFileHandler in ASP.net. But I cannot access it. Or you have any other way to work like this.

Is there a technical reason for the existence of Page.PreLoad or is this just convenience to have a place where you can neatly place code that always have to be executed before the Load code? Is there a difference between adding code in the PreLoad event handler and adding code at the top of the Load event handler? And what would be a typical scenario where you use PreLoad?
