Configuration :: Handler Mapping Adding With Appcmd.exe Command?
Dec 7, 2010
I have added a new handler mapping (Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit.) with command
"%SystemRoot%"system32inetsrvappcmd.exe set config /section:handlers /+[name='ASPHandler',path='*.asp',modules='IsapiModule',scriptProcessor='%windir%system32inetsrvasp.dll',verb='GET,HEAD,POST',resourceType='File',requireAccess='Script']
This line is inserted into file
C:WindowsSystem32inetsrvconfigapplicationHost.config:
<location path="" overrideMode="Allow">
<system.webServer>
<handlers accessPolicy="Read, Script">[code]....
it can be seen in Handler Mappings window. But I want to add this by script not to do any manual configurations in file.

What are some unintended consequences associated with mapping an ASP.NET HTTP Handler to a static extension like *.css?
<add verb="*" path="handler.css" type="Web.HttpHandler.ThemeCssHandler" />
By default, *.css is registered as static content in applicationHost (under IIS7):
<staticContent lockAttributes="isDocFooterFileName">
<mimeMap fileExtension=".css" mimeType="text/css" />
Aren't static requests normally handled more efficiently by IIS alone?
The key motivation is really to have dynamic CSS served under its known extension as opposed to something like *.axd (for simplicity and compatibility with OOTB cache policies); but we'd like to make sure this doesn't degrade the service of non-dynamic CSS requests.

I have an application with an HttpHandler that processes any requests for a .js file. I only want this handler to process *.js files that are requested in the root of the application.
The handler mapping looks like this:
<add name="HandleJS" path="*.js" verb="*" type="MyApp.JsHandler" resourceType="Unspecified" requireAccess="Script" preCondition="integratedMode,runtimeVersionv4.0" />
Currently, this handler processes ALL requested *.js files. Here is an example of the behavior I want.
This request would be processed by the handler: http://localhost/myapps/approot/script.js
and this one would not be processed by the handler: http://localhost/myapps/approot/dontProcessMe/script.js
I'd really like to avoid including the full absolute path in the handler path so I tried some other things first.
It doesn't look like the path property of the add element allows the use of the ~/ application root mechanism, so setting path="~/*.js" doesn't work.
I've also tried replicating the StaticFile handler that's built into IIS and doing something like this:
<add name="MyStaticFiles" path="*/*.js" verb="*" modules="StaticFileModule" />
or
<add name="MyStaticFiles" path="dontProcessMe/*.js" verb="*" modules="StaticFileModule" />
Both of which just return a blank response with an HTTP status of 200.

Is there a technical reason for the existence of Page.PreLoad or is this just convenience to have a place where you can neatly place code that always have to be executed before the Load code? Is there a difference between adding code in the PreLoad event handler and adding code at the top of the Load event handler? And what would be a typical scenario where you use PreLoad?

Our website used to be a php website, now everything changed to .net, but the customer still want to keep the original php Request url. I want to know How to set Handler mapping on IIS7 to redirect .php file to .aspx file ? In more details, when you click handler mappings on IIS 7.0, what kind of hanlder should you add (add managed handler or add script map or add wild card script map or add module mapping) to redirect .php file to .aspx file?

I'm still trying to resolve a problem with relative links on a page that uses URL routing. The relative links work find when running from Visual Studio, but fail when deployed to a shared hosting account.I'm told that the difference is that Development Server handles all requests through ASP.NET handler but IIS7 doesn't. The result is that URLs with no extension are considered folders on my test machine, and filenames on the shared hosting account. That breaks the relative links.
It was suggested that I do wildcard mapping to IIS7. But I can't make random changes to the shared server machine. I also have concerns about routing everything through IIS, graphics files, style sheets, javascript files, etc. In addition, I also tried adding a <base> tag, which fixed this issue but broke other links on the page.
So I'm left with two questions.
1. If IIS isn't processing files without an extension, then how does my routed page display as an ASP.NET page?
2. What I'd really like to do is specify in my web.config that all files with no extension be handled the way they're handled when running from Visual Studio. I don't suppose that's possible.

I'm having an issue with trying to add a button to my grid. My GridView is first loaded with data in the PageLoad event.
I'm then taking the data in the first cell of each row, and creating a button that will link to a URL. To get the URL, I have to run a query with the data in the first cell as a parameter. I was doing this in the RowDataBound event at first, but hitting that query for every row was making it really slow.
So I decided to add a button that would retrieve the URL only when you clicked the button.
Here's my GridView:
[Code]....
The grid generates fine, the button gets added to the grid for each row. But when I click on it, the RowCommand event doesn't fire, and the page just refreshes.

I have a GridView control that contians, among other things, a DropDownList. In this particular case, the DropDownList is in the EmptyDataTemplate, but I suspect I will run into a similar situation when I'm in Data Rows as well.I'm trying to handle the OnSelectedIndexChanged event for the DropDownList and in the .aspx file I have used the declarative syntax to assign the handler OnSelectedIndexChanged="ddlStoreList_SelectedIndexChanged") and have created the handler code to deal with this.
[Code]....
The problem that I'm running into is that the event is not being handled. In other words, when I put a breakpoint in the handler, I find that it is not getting hit when I change the selection of the DropDownList.

I love the idea of precompiling my web site. In fact, 've never understood why MS didn't consider this important all along. So I tried the new Publish Web Site command in VS2010 and it seems to work well. That is, until I need to make a change to my site!In order to implement the tiniest of changes to my site, it looks like I must run the Publish Web Site command again, which takes forever because it overwrites and copies absolutely everything on my site, including the upload directory where users' images get stored, which is a problem!If I attempt to instead use Copy Web Site, then I get error about how I can't have an App_Code folder, or something along those lines, in a precompiled app.So what am I supposed to do? Is the only way I can have a precompiled site by requiring a complete reset of all content if I need to implement the tiniest of changes?

I created a script for Internet Explorer which can be installed using GM4IE (Greasemonkey for Internet Explorer) and it has the extension .gm4ie.
When I try to give the download link to this file on my server, it gives this error: [URL]
page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map.
How do I add this this handler or a mime map and where do I add this?

I've created a Web application (VS2008) that contains a single Generic Handler (handlername.ashx) and a web.config. I've also added a Web Setup project to use for deployment that uses the primary output from the Handler project. Install works without any errors and all the referenced DLLs are installed in the target location, with one issue. It doesn't install the ASHX file or the web.config.
Publishing the web app to the target location works as expected (includes both DLLs and the ASHX/Config files).
Is there something specific I need to do for the Web setup to include the ASHX/Config files?

I've been doing this project at work on a little app that we use for building and deploying websites to different customers. It works quite well, and we actually only have to press two buttons to have our DataProviders and DataRecords generated from sql and having our dll's compiled and everything sent to the customers ftp as a zip file, ready to unpack and use.
Now the problem is that since I've upgraded to Windows 7 (was XP) our compiler (either csc.exe or the msbuild.exe) seems to be messing with the codepage of our generated files. Resulting in æøå and characters alike are being converted to what seems to be ANSI encoding (this doesn't happen when running on XP).
I've been searching the net to find a viable solution to our problem and the only thing I have come upon is that the .NET framework version 4 has a parameter for codepage. Since we are using webdeploy build files on the 2.0 framework (and don't have time to roll our projects on to the next version framework) I would like to know if anyone has a quick remedy to resolve our problems with codepage.
