Custom Server Controls :: How To Use Resource Files Added To Resources Folder
Aug 27, 2010
I have added .CSS file in Resources folder of the project. In the same way i can add Images or any other files. But i am unable to use those files in Server Control Project. How to apply CssClass property to any predefined server control to the css file that is stored in the Resources folder ?
I am creating a website using ASP.NET (C#) using FTP problem: I have assigned a folder with a storage space let say 1GB to a user now what i want is to keep track of the storage space ulitilized by the user. for eg if a user saves/deletes a file in his folder, how to know that user has saved/deleted something to/from his folder.
I'm trying to create a web server control with a css embedded in the assembly.
I marked it as an embedded resource, add assembly attribute to reference it and use the proper methods to include the link to that
css in html code... my page renders ok witk something like <link href='/WebResources.axd?....' />
That's when the problem appears! My control isn't using the css as it appears to not found webResources.axd
I tried directly in web browser to locate http://locahost/mysite/WebResources.axd and it came with http code 404 NOT FOUND
In my IIS i have uncheked "Verify if file exists" on my extensions mapping related to .axd I add HEAD verb in Web.Config to path WebResources.axd and the result is always the same
I have client that wants to specifiy their own version of localized content for a subset of my string resources. For simplicity here is basic example:Lets say I have 2 localized strings (showing english content)PageTitle="Hello World" PageDescription="This is a more wordy version of Hello World!"
Strings.resx (contains my English string) Strings.fr-ca.resx (contains my French-Canadian strings) Strings.fr-ca-clientX.resx (contains [code]...
I have a composite user control consisting of three standard table cells (a legend, an image with a tool tip, and a text field control). If I add these to a TableRow in my aspx page it works fine and produces legal HTML in my source. The below works fine ...
However when I try to do the same programmatically (C#) the TableRow won't accept anything in its Controls collection that isn't a TableCell. I could make my control a nested table in its own right but I lose the alignment of my form items on the page with multiple controls, as each table aligns itself according to its contents. Is there anyway I can make the TableRow accept my control as collection of cells or do I need to do some casting or making my user control inherit some kind of TableCell attributes? I can also dynamically add my controls to a TableCell item which actually displays OK in IE but creates illegal HTML (<td><td></td><td> ... </td></td> - I assume this is illegal) in my resulting source. The code below DOES NOT work ...
I tried searching, but I guess the <% $ %> triggers something on google and it turns up nothing. What is this accessing in an asp.net .aspx page? I've used the = but never a $.
In our web application we need to keep various company's settings. For eg "DiamondProdRefIDCaption","Shippingpickup","ZipCodeCaption","DefaultCountry","AllowToEditInvoice", etcThese settings are different for various companies and are placed in web.config as key-value pair.Initially, we have tried do simplify this process by adding a company_settings table in the DB so as to allow us to add companies on the fly. However, this method makes it very difficult to add a new setting
I'm pretty sure this is something super easy, but how do i access a resource that is in a separate project using the expression syntax? I thought it would be like so:

i have that server host address,UID and Passwrd also how to access that files from remote server.
I want to make a textbox with a specific style, within this style a set of images as background parts, how can i attach these images to the custom control as whenever i take the .dll file and add it to the toolbar the images do not appear. So i tried to make them as resource files and their property as embedded in .resx file, so how to make the css style background image url to be linked to any of those image.
i have a very strange error.i get parser error Parser Error Message: The resource object with key 'TopnavHome' was not found.this is the code: [Code]....
I'm looking to build a user control where the user should be able to select N number of files for upload using the same "file/explorer" dialog/control. Currently, the FileUpload control enables a user to select only one file for upload. I have seen examples where people have modified this, so that uploaded files are stored in a list to provide a "mass upload" functionality. However, the user can select only one file at a time. This is NOT what I want, the user should be able to select multiple files at a time, or select a folder with which I should be able to upload all the children images. Is there any way I can do this or has someone done this already and i'm somehow missing it?
I create a user control named ExampleControl and add <%@ Register src="ExampleControl.ascx" tagname="ExampleControl" tagprefix="uc1" %> to aa.aspx file So I can use ExampleControl cw = Panel1.FindControl("ExampleControl1") as ExampleControl in the file aa.aspx.cs
Now I hope to use ExampleControl cw = Panel1.FindControl("ExampleControl1") as ExampleControl in a .CS file located App_Code folder, but I get the following error, how can I do?
Error 4 The type or namespace name 'ExampleControl' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
I have an user control that reads the data from app_data folder and does some processing. In design time I'd like to show the row data in control placeholder (using GetDesignTimeHtml). To do that I need to figure out the absolute path to app_data folder on my project. The HttpContext is not available and HostingEnvironment.MapPath returns null.
i am new to using AJAX.I am using Visual Web Developer 2010 and I followed all the steps given on the http://www.asp.net/ajaxlibrary/act.ashx website to install AJAX.However, when I try to run my website,I get an error:
"Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "AjaxControlToolkit.Properties.Resources.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "AjaxControlToolkit" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed."
