I have a requirement like need to display 5000+ records in gridview. So, I created scrollable div with gridview init and displaying 200 records per page. The website is running very slow because eveytime when user click on paging, it retrieving all the records from the database. I need to increase the website performance. I heard about a concept Girdview lazy loading but i don't know how to implement. I am looking for a solution like records should display in gridview when ever user scroll the bar down. How to do the gridview lazy loading.

I saw your article in aspsnippet for the above said title. When scrolling, it picks up the data from database and displays in the page as a table content. But, i want to show an image in the table. I render the image name from the database. Now, i need to create an img tag using that jquery to append the table and show that image that i get from server. What is the code to append the table with an image tag in javascript?

I am working on a pretty heavy page in an application and the scenario is:
There is a Tab control in the page, having four tabs. These tabs individually consist of different user controls and other asp controls. Most of these usercontrols in turn consist of other user controls. Every user control contains huge javaScript functions which validate them, populate controls and call web services.
What I am trying to achieve is to load only the Tab and its user controls on the page load and when the user clicks on a specific tab, load its contents (User controls) dynamically. Once that is done, I am setting the tab's postback to false to prevent loading it again once loaded.
I tried to achieve this by making the user controls in the other tabs - visible="false" in the markup and loading them from server side on some specific event. But that causes the javaScript functions in those user controls to give errors ('Object expected') when I go to that tab.
If I set the user controls in the other tabs to visible true, then no matter what; the page life cycle goes to each registered control and loads every subsequent control in that web user control which makes the main page slow (on loading and every postback).
The position of the Tab and the inner user controls is fixed. Although I am taking care that no data is populated unnecessarily on the page and user controls on hidden tabs, I dont want the tabs to get loaded altogether unless requested. If I load them on runtime, their corresponding javaScripts start giving errors.. note that I am not generating the controls on runtime, they exist in the page design. I just dont want to load them dynamically
I am trying to find the best way to have a page with a lot of data from queries to a database load faster. Looking at [URL], when viewing information about a domain, I see that their page loads and each section has a loading symbol, so the page itself displays fast and the data comes when it is available. How do they do this? Update panels around each section with a call to a Web Service? Also, Google AdWords seems to do this too when you load the Ads or Keywords tabs of a Campaign.

I have two tables: Book and author and they have one to many relation.One book may have more than one authors. Book table has Title column and Author table has AuthorName Column.
I have search page contains two textboxes: Title Textbox and AuthorName textbox to search the record.
When the user type something and hit the search button it display the Title when click the title ; it redirect to detailsPage.aspx Passing value ID.

My problem is:
When the user search and hit the search button, it display the number of matches Title only. I want to display authors related to this title in this page and other are same(when click the title go to detailspage.aspx)
How can I display the related Authors to each title in search display page (Not in details page, I know in details page) ?

However, the data that needs to be shown on one of the grids has no dependence on the data of the other grid. So, when fetching the data, I want to fetch it in an asynchronous manner and bind that data to each of the grids individually. Currently we have a code like

I want to make these calls asynchronously so that in order to load the page, the time taken would be lesser. What should be the ideal way to go forward with this ? One more thing, we would be hosting the application in a portlet which doesn't support AJAX.

So, I'm trying to use form view in insert mode on a dedicated aspx page. So when a user clicks "Add New" from the main GridView page, it will take the user to an Insert.aspx page that will be in Insert mode ready to collect information.

In my web application I need to Search a gridview by a Text which entered in a textbox, and in a Button_Click().
I need to search the Text in a particular column only, so I use the gridviewrow property and searched which item template contains the Text. But, it works in the First page index of the GridView not in the Next and others, How can I Enable the Search Up-to the Last page index and the Last row of the GridView.

I will explain this as best I can. When a user types in a search field (ASP Textbox field) and presses enter a list of search results are displayed if there is a match. The search results display in the second half of the page. A video will play in the top half of the page but not until a querystring is passed to the page. The querystring value comes from the list of displayed search results. When a user clicks on results from the search (ASP Hyperlink) the querystring value is passed to the same page he/she is on and a video starts playing. My major problem is when I pass the querystring value I do not want to lose the list of search results. It looks like in ASP.net the page refreshes each time you pass a new value. It's not optional to make the user click the back button to see the orginal search results. I'm assuming it has something to do with maintaining session state but I am no expert. YouTube and many other sites do this similar functionality so I figure it must be possible in ASP.Net.
So basically, I want the image that I searched for to continue to display even as I select them and pass there videoID to the SQLDataSource that is expecting the QueryString. All values are being pulled from a SQL 2008 database. When the QueryString value is passed a video will play based on the value that was passed. Currently I have this working but the problem is when I pass the querystring my displayed search results are gone or disappeared. I was thinking that maybe if I could pass the querystring value and the search results value it would work. It would mean reposting the data again but I guess that's a work-around. So for instance if a user typed 'biceps' in the orginal search some kind of way I would store biceps somewhere and pass it again along with the querystring for the video. It doesn't seem like the most eficient way to do it but if someone on here suggest that's the best way I will also need help with that syntax. I am using ASP.Net 4 and VB instead of C#.
I've already searched to no avail for an answer to this question:is it possible to dynamically alter the page size in a paged gridview based on data in a particular column?In other words,let's say I get data from a table that lists students enrolled in a particular course.If there are 10 students in Course "A," then I want page 1 in my gridview to show 10 records.
If there are 15 students in Course "B," then I want page 2 in my gridview to show those 15 records,and so on.I imagine that this could probably be done with a master-detail kind of set up,but let's say for the sake of argument that I don't want to go that route.
