DataSource Controls :: Publish Database To Provider?

In my development environment, many times I will store the sql server (.mdf) files in the app_data folder of my web project instead of creating the database in sql server management studio express.
The problem is when I go to the server explorer and try to publish to provider and generate scripts for the database objects into a database project within my solution.
I get the error:
There are not objects in database: 'C:documents and settingsusernamemy documentsVisual Studio 2008projectssolution nameprojectsweb appproject nameapp_datadatabasename.mdf' of types scriptable by this wizard.
I read an article about the path name being too long. Is there a fix to this? I've setup my file structure for all my solutions and projects to be in one centralized location and don't really want to change the path structure. I'm hoping there is a fix or patch for this?
I'm using VS2008.

I have a server that doesn't have MSSQL, can I use the default SQLExpress database somehow on the server to store my provider information? Or do I need to use a different databse with custom providers?

We have developed web application using Asp.net, C# and SQL Server. However, When viewing the Process Info Tool for MS SQL Server, we see lots of processes (150-1000+) with Status = 'sleeping' and Command = 'AWAITING COMMAND' (Application = '.Net SqlClient Data Provider')The DataReaders and Connections are all being closed, but still the sleeping connections are accumulating. The problem becomes so severe that we finally get a "General Network Error" or a "Internal system error" and if we restart IIS. We have tested a lot but no success.

I have a website in which code on the production server runs no problem. The same code on my local machine or test server produces the mess seen at the end. The exact same code. Additionally, upon trying to preview any of the table adapters in the dataset I get "DataSet1.thename could not be previewed. The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client"
The app is SQL Server. It always has been. It has never used Oracle. Does anyone have any insight on how to fix this? As it is now I can't do anything with my dataset. I can't edit anything in there because of this complaint about Oracle.

I have a very simple app on my local machine that uses the ASP.NET membership provider. This works fine on my local machine.I have published the app to our web server, and I need to know the specifics of setting up the application for asp.net membership to work.I have a basic understanding that it uses an MDF file and somehow connects to a SQL database (SQLEXPRESS I assume on my local machine) which holds the user/role information.

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to transfer records from SQL central database (who has a public IP address) into SQL local database (who doesn't have a public IP)?
or if it's not possible can I use a centralized website instead to pass some data into the local website? (but i'm not sure if it will have some security concerns)..

Creating a system with web front end and SQL backend (microsoft obviously). I have tried using the asp.netsqlprovider but i can;t as i am only allowed one database on the server, so i then tried to update my current database with the triggers to input the schema into the already existing database.Next step i create my own table with two simple fields of username and password and try and authenticate that way, i can't get that to work either.
I ahve limited permissions on the network as i am a University Student. I really don't know what to do. Never had to create a log on system before and i thought it would be far simpler than this. I ahve used Microsoft's sqlprovider schema before and it worked fine. I have also authenticated via IIS and AD too before. I can't do any of those two in this instance it seems.I need an alternative for logging in users, if needs be in can be crude. I also still need to have some kind of two different views too for logged in users and not logged in users, but that can change if needs must.Don't let me down people, haha. Think this posts in the correct place, i could not find another one i thought could be more relevant.

I have a development database and one in production. There are two different sets of data in each database. On my dev system, I have mostly dummy data that I test with and in production is the real data for my web application. I recently added a new feature to the app that required a new table, and a new field for a foreign key in an existing table. I now need to upload that new structure to the production database without overwriting the live data with my test data.
If I run the Database Publishing Wizard, and choose "Schema Only" will it import the new structure and leave the existing data alone, or will it drop the records in my production database tables?

When a user is registered in an MVC application using the default Register action of the Account controller, where is the user info stored? Can I specify that this user table be stored in the database of the MVC application?
I am reading about writing a custom membership provider. I want to have some linkage between application specific user info ( current orders, items the user has ordered ) and the login database. I want to hook the "register a new user" process so that a new customer is added to the customer master.

I've just finished my database design and now i'm going to start implementing it in SQL Server 2008. Since i'm creating an ASP.NET Web Application i would like to use Membership Provider to manage user access to the application. In other projects (more simpler) i used Membership but always with its default parameters.
In this recent application i need to use custom user data for it to work properly.
So, what i would like to know is, how can i use my 'Users' table in my DB with .NET Membership Provider?

I am using a custom membership provider. I needed to bind a repeater to a membershipusercollection but the only way I could think of was this:
There is no method to return a lcollection of membership users by userid. I basically have a friends table with a userid and a frienduserid field. both are foreign keys to the user table. So say I am userid 1 and I have two friends userid 2 and userid 3.
I needed to get a collection of membership users who are my friends (user 2 and 3)
So I did this:

I get their id's and add them to to list(of Integer) then I loop through the list and get the particular user by id and add them to a membershipusercollection object.
I now need to add paging to my repeater control that uses that collection as a datasource. However the membership provider doesn't give me the ability to specify a pageindex or pagesize etc. It gives me those options in the GetAllUsers function but I need it to work in the above scenario.

I am currently in the process of doing a feasibility study of using web parts in one of our company's intranet portal. The challenge that I am facing is that I would like to use the organization's existing oracle database as the personalization provider instead of aspnetdb sqlexpress database. I tried to looking for some sample code but we could not find any. In the MSDN, I found one article where it is using textfile as a provider, but this does not solve my purpose here. I am new to web parts. Request you to share with me some sample code to achieve this.
I am using Visual studio 2005 and Oracle 10g database.

I have a custom SQL membership provider (NOT using aspdb files but our own 'People' table) that was working fine under development but doesn't even connect when it is deployed on web server. DB connection string has been changed to point to db server (checked against another web site & is fine there). The membership code (in VB) is in App_code directory so am I correct in thinking I don't need a separate DLL ? No error messages nothing just reports failed to login when I type some user credentials.

I have seen a lot of examples posted on how to create a Custom SiteMap Provider which is directly linked to the Business Logic in the Presentation Layer, however, I would like to write a Custom SiteMap Provider which inherits from StaticSiteMapProvider and
is driven by the database. In addition, I would like to expose all of this logic behind WCF Services.
Are there any samples on how to implement a Custom SiteMap Provider over WCF Services since I am having a hard time trying to figure out exactly how to put a solution following this architectural pattern together.

I have an issue where I am running out of database space on my hosting provider. As it turns out, the aspnetdb database is more than 6x our application database. We are using anonymous profiles and there are 21 fields stored in each user profile.
Upon analysis, most of this data is not required to be stored - it is simply wasting space. The part that is wasting the most space (5 binary objects) are not even used by any of the public users. I would like to remove these binary objects from all of the user's profiles without deleting the profiles, but I can't seem to find any documentation on how to do this.
I can remove the fields, which will take care of users going forward, but I need to retroactively delete these fields from the aspnetdb database to free up space. Since each user manages their own profiles, I am unsure how to create an automated procedure to delete these fields out each anonymous user's profile.

I dont really write html code too well but I manged to get my web site developed and deployed using the built in features such as drag n drop, master page and user account authentication that make web developing almost a codeless experience.
However; my hosting provider system wont allow me to have more than one database, this causes problems becasue when I developed my web app using vb2010 web developer (asp.net v2) I used the built in web config tool to manage users for my site, now after I deployed to my domain it all worked ok with the exeption of the login page, when I tried to log in the system threw a error message saying "database not found." or a page of "gobble-dee-gook" that says the same thing
When I contacted support (my hosting provider) they said i have to create a table of users in my database file via 2008 sql server, thats ok I can do that, but my real problem is I dont know how to write appropriate code to reference the table.
So heres my problem: I just want to have some kind of login page with a couple of txtboxes and a click button that maybe using the VB code behind or html checks the input variables "username" "password" against something that is hard coded into vb a string variable or a constant and then branches to Mainmenu.aspx if successfull. I just need it real simple, no fancy stuff just a login screen that checks id and password and off you go.This must be real basic stuff for first year student I should think, but I dont know the correct way to load a html.page from within the vb codebehind,
