So i was thinking on using an image and a literal control. The questions i have is
1)Is there a better control to use than literal?I am using it because the text would have html and i must render it.
2)How i will achieve putting text beside the picture(the site uses a <strong> as i see in firebug but i cannot view the css and after that everything is simple text and some <br> )?
If i put the literal beside with <strong> and have a specific div size will the text automatically go below when reach the div limit?I'm asking because it will be html so i don't know if it(html) can surpass the main div container.
I design web site by asp.net my website contain news page ,advertisement page and others ,I design Separate page for news and advertisement so I have question what is the best when I design Separate page or place news, advertisment and other page in multiview (view)

I am needing to have a music player (something like a strip down at the bottom of the page that goes all the way across), that remains at the bottom even when the user navigates to another page within the same site. The purpose of this is to play music on the website no matter where the user goes on the website.
i want to make a add news page that when my user write his news(in up.aspx) then his news shown in news.aspx. what am i going to do ? what is the best way for writing this page ?
In one of the interview, I was asked why should we have to go for Single Design pattern, instead of just creating static methods. Because creating static methods also serve the same purpose, i.;e avoiding flooding of objects.
I've always depended on putting a control on an aspx page and double-clicking in design view to create my VB page. But this isn't happening in my current project. It creates an inline script in my aspx page instead. Where is the option or preference or XML file or.... that controls this?
I have a static method and need to get the Textbox text in it. But I get "An object reference is required for the non-static field, method, or property 'Members_ETC_Tab5.TextBox1' " when I use TextBox1.text in the static method so I modified my Method as below
[Code]....
but I see that txtBegin is null. How can this be fxed?
my MasterPage I have a label that reflects the name of the module that the user is currently in. I change the label text accordingly using the following ..
Instead of placing this method in the code-behind of every page, I want to put it in a single class and call it accordingly. I thought of using a static class but do not know how to reference the MasterPage. Can I use a static class? or do I place the method in the code-behind of one page and call Object.Method from the other pages?
I was wondering how to create a front page news function with C# as the language.
Basically I want to be able to use a one of my forums in the category "Site Discussion" called "News" as a way to connect with the front page (homepage) of the site to display a few of the newest news articles each with a title, image, and a short blurb of what the post is about. Also I want them to have a link that connects to the news post in the forums.
***NOTE*** I am using YAF (Yet Another Forum) for my forums.
An example of this from another site is [URL]
As you can see in the above site in the "Today's Top Stories" section it shows 4 news posts (1 main, and 3 other top stories) and if you click on them it links to the news post (which is also accessible via the forums in the news section).
This is basically what I want to incorporate into my site, but using the YAF forums, note an admin console is also needed to do this, I have a serperate admin console that I will set-up for it basically that's when you write it and from there it displays on the front page and in the forums.

I'm trying to figure out a logical and quick way to implement the "PRG" design style in a small site I'm doing, and I'm finding an issue I can't think of a good way to solve.I have a form. It has 2 fields (first and last name). When the user submits the form, I check to make sure that they have data in them before I save it to the database. If they do not, then I show them a nice little error message and leave what little they have entered still in the form. However, in order to correctly implement PRG, as I understand it
I am looking for a tutorial or more information on creating a Templating system to allow a user to edit the template of a ASP.Net website, Such as creating his or her own 'Skin'.point me in the right direction.
I am currently working on a document management system in ASP.NET 3.5 using the Telerik AJAX toolkit. It consists of masterpage with a title banner across the top and a RadTreeview down the left hand side for navigation through the site. The treeview uses a combination of static nodes and dynamic ones. The dynamic nodes are populated via a webservice. When a node is clicked the relevant page is navigated to, reloading the masterpage and displaying the content of the target page.
The problem comes from the fact the treeview's dynamic nodes are populated via a webservice and therefore as the user navigates through the tree to find a document the treeview behaves as you would expect. However, when you get to the bottom of a tree of dynamic nodes the navigation to the page of the navigateurl causes the relevant page to be loaded and then the treeview resets itself to a collapsed state. This means the user could be deep in a nest of documents but when they view one, the tree collapses and they have to start their navigation all over again. This limitation is not going to be acceptable from an ease of use perspective.
According to Telerik, this is the designed behaviour for performance reasons - the node only ever worries about populating the next set of nodes and therefore the treeviews state is not remembered in viewstate.
So, the meat of question is. Is the masterpage/async treeview navigation design pattern a valid one? Are there any other ways to have an ajax treeview on a masterpage, that remembers it's state when another page is navigated to? I have considered a siglepage/updatepanel/partial page rendering model but the opinions I've seen on the net infer that this is bad idea. It confuses users that expect back/forward browser behaviour to navigate through the site but in a single page world they would end up leaving the site.
I also thought that maybe using a single page container and an iframe may work but this seems to be moving away from the "standard" design pattern of using masterpages.
i create a composite control as can be seen in code below, and add this control to webform, assign FormView1 to the HeaderControlName property, Run the page, the system will generate parse error message : Cannot create an object of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.FormView' from its string representation 'FormView1' for the 'HeaderControlName' property. However, if i don't assign FormView1 in design screen and manually (through coding) assign FormView1 to the custom control on init, it works as expected.
custom control public class CmdTest : CompositeControl { public virtual FormView HeaderControlName { get { object oObject = ViewState["HeaderControlName"]; return (oObject == null) ? null : (FormView)oObject; } set { ViewState["HeaderControlName"] = value; } } protected override void CreateChildControls( { Controls.Clear(); Button xx = new Button(); Controls.Add(xx); } } webpage.aspx (assign FormView1 in design time, it will generate error) <Utils:CmdTest ID="CmdTest1" runat="server" HeaderControlName="FormView1" /> webpage.aspx (didn't assign FormView1 in ASPX, but assign it on Init Code, it works) <Utils:CmdTest ID="CmdTest1" runat="server" oninit="CmdTest1_Init" /> Webpage.aspx.cs protected void BsCmdTest1_Init(object sender, EventArgs e) { CmdTest1.HeaderControlName = FormView1; }
I have a static HTML page complete with client-side scripts and css (both are included in the html). I was wondering if it would be possible to embed this HTML page into an ASPX page and have the ASPX page be able to respond to javascript events that are raised from within the static html document? Does asp.net provide a specific control for this or can I use a frame?
I have a private static field in my Controller class in an MVC web application.
I have a static method in that controller that assigns some value to that static field, I want to apply lock on that static field until some other instance method in the controller uses the value stored in the static field and then releases it.
DETAILS:
I have a controller named BaseController having a static ClientId field as follows and two methods as follows:-
public static string ClientId = ""; static void OnClientConnected(string clientId, ref Dictionary<string, object> list) { list.Add("a", "b"); // I want the ClientId to be locked here, so that it can not be accessed by other requests coming to the server and wait for ClientId to be released:- BaseController.clientId = clientId; } public ActionResult Handler() { if (something) { // use the static ClientId here } // Release the ClientId here, so it can now be used by other web requests coming to the server. return View(); }
I did some research after posting. All I found was simple examples for no-layer architectures, like connecting to a database from your aspx page, so, in a corporate environment, it is unnaceptable.
I need to call a server-side method (using ASP.NET Ajax) in a 3-layer architecture.
For example, my Default.aspx contains a method LoadProducts().
[Code]....
[Code]....
This cannot change. There is no way to convert Business and Data layers to static.
How can I call the LoadProducts() method using ASP.NET Ajax?
But when i go to Design View of the page (for creating the events automatically or for drag/drop any new control from toolbox, I don't want to type everything) the design view only shows the master page! the page controls are complete ignored!
I have a page with features supplied from both a master page and a child master page.In the content placeholder for the head in both master pages I have supplied the link to the stylesheet for the site.In Design View in VS 2008 the CSS code seems to be functioning correctly. When viewing in a browser the CSS does not appear to be applied at all.
Here is the CSS code for the div elements within the main content placeholder:
I have just asked which one is better?Static Vs Non-Static? [URL]I would like to take this discussion one step ahead.Consider If i pass reference of Panel control as parameter to Public static method, will static method still rules in performance?
