My site is going to display content based on a city. So, if a user comes directly to my site, I am going to default them to say for instance:
www.mysite.com/cincinnati
I need to be able to handle two scenarios here. One, when they come directly to my site ('/'), I need to somehow redirect to my default city and 2, show an error page if they type in an invalid city. Any thoughts? I saw the route constraint, but how do you deal with invalid scenarios like showing an error page when the constraint fails?
Since I am new to Ajax control kit so thought to ask this question,I need to know what controls should i use for the following requirement.I've a state Drop down on selection of state drop down i would like to display all city of selected state in check box so that user can choose multiple cities and would like check box control to display only 5 city name per row for example if there are 10 cities in one state it should show 2 rows with 4 city and one row for 2 city.
I have a scenario where I need 2 dropdowns like state and city.City dropdown depands upon on State drop down. Will you please tell me how to achieve it ASP.NET MVC?I found this article but not sure is there any alternate way to do?http://stephenwalther.com/blog/archive/2008/09/07/asp-net-mvc-tip-41-creating-cascading-dropdown-lists-with-ajax.aspx
Our customer has a requirement to extend the functionality of their existing large government project. It is an ASP.NET 3.5 (recently upgraded from 2.0) project.
The existing solution is quite a behemoth that is almost unmaintainable so they have decided that they want to provide the new functionality by hosting it on another website that is shown within the existing website.
As to how this is best to be done I'm not quite sure right now and if there is any security issues preventing it or that need to be considered.
Essentially the user would log on to the existing web site as normal and when cliicking on a certain link the page would load as normal with some kind of frame or control that has within it the contents of the page from the other site. IE. They do not want to simply redirect to the other site they want to show it embedded within the current one such that the existing menus etc are still available.
I believe if information needed to be passed to the embedded page it would be done using query strings as I'm not sure if there is even another way to accomplish this.
I have been looking around for an API that does this but couldn't find one, all what I need is the time of that given City or ZipCode, can I do that manually in VB.NET?
I have a problem. I just enabled ssl on a web site, the technologies used is DotNetNuke, Asp.net, Window Server 2003, and IIS 6. I installed a certificate that was copied on the server through an email, and basically just clicked on the certificate and chose all the defaults.
I set up the certificate by goiong into the web site's properties -> Directory Security -> Server Certificate and choosing the option "Assign existing certificate" and I keep port 443 as the ssl port for the web site.
When i try to access the web site by entering the url [URL]
it shows "Internet Explorer Cannot display the web page" when I diagnose the problem, it says "The host may be down or it may not support a secure connection." I know the site is working by entering in the regular [URL]
Google Chrome gives a bit more information, it displays "Error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): Unknown error."
Mozilla displays "The connection to somesite was interrupted while the page was loading."
Just curious if subdomains can be generated dynamically. For example say I have [URL]. In a SQL DB is a list of cities. Can these be used to generate new subdomain for each city? (ie [URL], [URL], etc.) Or do I have to create every sub domain I want manually?
I have to get the string and number different. This is like the City with house number. So i want to split the city and house number. How do i do this.
I am developing a multi language site that has 40 languages. The database is relatively small both data and table Count.I need to display the contents in 40 different languages.should I translate the content and store the translated data in the database (40 different times)?
should I translate the content at runtime using a translation service like google translate? or what?its the large number of languages thats scary.
Let's say I have a LatLng , is there any way of checking if it represents a possible location within a city? How can I get the limits of a city? I'm using Google Map.
I have a form in that form i am having a dropdownlist, if I select a particular company name, it will redirect to another page and generate a empcode automatically as per the company name example TCS001. My problem is, if the person filling the employee form, in that form I having an city name in dropdownlist if the user select the particular city name like Mumbai in the dropdown, I want to make the empcode as TCS/MUM/001, I tried but its not working properly..
I'm using a custom sqlsitemapprovider to get my site hierarchy out of the database and display my navigation. Now, I have the following main (parent) nodes:
Home - Products - News. What I want to achieve is this, suppose you click on products then a subnavigation appears like this:
productGroup1,productGroup2, productGroup3.
But when you click products, no selection was made from the subnavigation, how would I achieve that if someone clicks on products, the first product with content from the first productGroup1 shows up?
To visualize this: I click on Products -> Subnavigaton gets rendered -> PG1 - PG2 - PG3 -> page displays product1 of PG1
Is there as build in manner to accomplish this or how would one create a method to make this work?
P.S.:For my navigation, I'm not using any build in navigation controls, I'm rendering my menu as an html unordered list e.g: <ul><li></li></ul>
How to get details of our website in google search on right side pannal..For Eg..If you search for aspsnippet .com in google search you will get the desc of your website on the right side panal with in a square box
There is a database (SQL Server) with locations (longitude and latitude values). I need to plot the route on the map (Google or otherwise) based on those locations extracted from database. Plotting lines and map are on ASP.NET webpage.
What would be the most and cost-effective way to accomplish the task above?
Now i'm working on the cascading dropdownlist for to bind a country and city, city is based on country dropdownlist. its working well , if city comes more than 8000 records in city dropdownlist , takes more to bind city.
I know there has to be a way to do this but for some reason I keep getting it wrong. I have one query which pulls all of the cities from a zipcode database like so:
[Code]....
Then I have another which counts the records from a transactions table per city, like so:
[Code]....
Only the zipcode is stored in the transactions table, so the idea here is to get a list off all the distinct cities that reside in the state. Once I have the cities, I want a count for each city as a whole, so I need to go back in and get all of the zipcodes that make up one city, and then count the transactions for those zipcodes. It works using the first query above, looping through them and then executing the second for every pass. But shouldn't there be a way to do it all in one query?
I have one page Country.aspx through that i add country in my database... I have another page name State.aspx through which i can add states in my database..
Now The country i have added in database through first page when i want to add states in database i want that added country to be shown in drop down list in my state.aspx page..
here in state.aspx page i have one drop down for country which i select and one textbox for state which i want to add...how can i add states with this....here when i click on save the state should be saved in database
how can i do that??
I have taken three different tables name country, state and city for that and 3 different pages country.aspx,state.aspx,city.aspx ..
using the bing map API, can I make a server-side call and get lat/long for a given city? I can do it on the client side using JavaScript, but I need something more robust in this case and want to use the server side.
retrieving values related to user select a country then its automatically shows the states name of that country in next dropdownlist and after that it will automatically display the city names respected to that country.
