Just curious if subdomains can be generated dynamically. For example say I have [URL]. In a SQL DB is a list of cities. Can these be used to generate new subdomain for each city? (ie [URL], [URL], etc.) Or do I have to create every sub domain I want manually?

My problem is, if the person filling the employee form, in that form I having an city name in dropdownlist if the user select the particular city name like Mumbai in the dropdown, I want to make the empcode as TCS/MUM/001, I tried but its not working properly..

View 1 RepliesWhat I want to do is take traffic that is going to shop.mywebsite.com and redirect or rewrite (I'm not sure of the terminology) the domain to be www.mywebsite.com/shop. Both shop.* and www.* are separate web applications (nopCommerce and Umbraco respectively) that don't seem to cooperate when I've tried to nest them. Both applications are in a Server 2008 R2/IIS 7.5 environment.
I've searched around stackoverflow and what I've found is a lot of answers to mapping the other direction (ie subfolder to a subdomain) but that's not what I'm looking for as far as I understand the problem.
The end goal is to combine the SEO reputation of the shop subdomain into the www subdomain. I readily admit that I might have this all backwards and am willing to try any suggestions I'm offered.
I have an app with multiple subdomains, subone.parent.com, subtwo.parent.com.
I have a logon page at parent.com/login. When a user logs in I redirect them to the proper domain based on which one they are a member of. This works fine.

This properly authenticates the user for subone.parent.com and not subtwo.parent.com. However I would like to do the following.
If the user goes back to parent.com, I would like to know that they are logged in and redirect them back to subone.parent.com.
Is there a best practice for accomplishing this? Or do I have to set another cookie for parent.com?
I'm working in asp.net mvc if it matters.

I have a table that i am trying to create backup through "Generate Script" in sql server 2008. It generates the table script succussfully but when i try to open the script and execute, it throw sql syntax errors on one of the column.
The resson behind is because each row of that column contains an xml file content that contains many tags including <br> and others.....

My site is going to display content based on a city. So, if a user comes directly to my site, I am going to default them to say for instance:

I need to be able to handle two scenarios here. One, when they come directly to my site ('/'), I need to somehow redirect to my default city and 2, show an error page if they type in an invalid city. Any thoughts? I saw the route constraint, but how do you deal with invalid scenarios like showing an error page when the constraint fails?

1) The User will select a State from a drop down.
2) The City Drown Down will then be populated based on the State selected
3) A textbox below is then populated with the corresponding Zip Code(s) based on Selected State and Zip Code on an ASP.NET page.
Problem: I get the error Request() is not defined which causes the application to hault when a State is selected.

Then I have another which counts the records from a transactions table per city, like so:

Only the zipcode is stored in the transactions table, so the idea here is to get a list off all the distinct cities that reside in the state. Once I have the cities, I want a count for each city as a whole, so I need to go back in and get all of the zipcodes that make up one city, and then count the transactions for those zipcodes. It works using the first query above, looping through them and then executing the second for every pass. But shouldn't there be a way to do it all in one query?
I have one page Country.aspx through that i add country in my database... I have another page name State.aspx through which i can add states in my database..

using the bing map API, can I make a server-side call and get lat/long for a given city? I can do it on the client side using JavaScript, but I need something more robust in this case and want to use the server side.
