Dynamically Load Assemblies

Feb 2, 2010

I'm trying to write some code to use reflection to load new assemblies. I observed the file system with FileSystemWatcher, so that if anything in the folder changed, I can get notified and then reload them.

Firstly I have an assembly filters.dll loaded. Let's say its version is 1.0.0. Then when I have a new one v1.0.1, I paste it into the folder and replace the older one. Of course this fires "Change" event of FileSystemWatcher, and finally lead to assembly reloading.

Everything works fine, but I just want to know, what would happen to the firstly loaded assembly? Get replaced by the newer one? Or still somewhere in the memory?

Configuration :: Load Assemblies From Remote Machine?

Jun 1, 2010

I'm trying to deploy a website stored on a network shared storage. My problem is that I am unable to load assemblies that reside on the remote machine.I load some assemblies by using

assembly = Assembly.LoadFrom(Uri.UnescapeDataString(new UriBuilder(satelliteExpectedLocation).Path))
where the satelliteExpectedLocation is in the form "file:\10.0.0.85 mpappinMessages.resources.dll".
I got a FormatException on this one, so I modified the path to read "file:////\10.0.0.85\tmp\app\bin\Messages.resources.dll"

Now I get a "System.IO.FileNotFoundException".I read on MSDN that the "File" scheme is to be used for resources on the local machine. But how should I get the resources on the network share?

Usercontrols - How To Load All Assemblies In Bin To Find A User Control

Oct 25, 2010

Part of a web application we have uses an in-house web control assembly. This assembly contains several web user controls where several of these are used by other web controls within the same assembly.

The assembly is built as a website with a web deployment project.

The main web application's pages are dynamically compiled through a service into a single assembly and placed into the appropriate bin folder. In our development server the old assemblies aren't always tidied up and removed, meaning the folder gets full of old assemblies.

When the page that uses the in-house web control assembly (mentioned above) runs, the asp.net instance throws an out of memory as it loads all the old assemblies in an attempt to determine which assembly houses the reference to the user control being used by the other user control inside the same assembly.

We've been using the following inside the top level user controls to register the other controls

<%@ Register Src="~/....ascx" TagPrefix="UC" TagName="...." %>

Of course when the application runs this gives no information as to which assembly it can find it in.

Is there anyone that's come across this problem before? It's not really a problem as our live servers use a clean up tool to remove old assemblies, but there are still potential situations where we could get out of memory caused by this (for example the tool stops working!), so it would be nice to resolve this problem.

Here is the stack trace

Configuration :: What Is The Diff Between Link To Assemblies In Project File And Assemblies In Web.config File

Apr 30, 2010

when I reference a assembly. It's reference gets added to the project file in my case ( ABC.csproj)

Also when I take a look at the web.config file there is a section called <assemblies>. And lot of assemblies are added there.

What is the difference between link to the assemblies in the Project file and the assemblies in the web.config file?

Php - Vb.net Load And Call Files Dynamically?

Nov 24, 2010

I'm a bit new to .net so i was wondering if a thing like this is possible. I'm having one basic aspx script that needs to load some "plugins". Every plugin has its own settings and it should perform different logics. What i'd do in php is create a class for each plugin, load that class, pass the settings file to it and call some method on that class that would give me some output. But is it even possible in vb.net? I'd need to have multiple files with multiple classes, load those files, depending on the plugin name and call some method on them to parse that plugin's settings.

C# - Dynamically Load User Control?

Oct 26, 2010

I have this GridView that have it's DataSource as a list of previously selected products.
For every item on it, I need to Eval it's ID and load a specifc form that the user must fill, then after that i've got to update the GridView.

I have made those specific forms as User Controls, is this the best approach for this scenario?

If yes, how can I dynamically load them, in a way that I can make queries/postbacks then update back my gridview?

Web Forms :: Unable To Load Ascx Dynamically

Jan 24, 2010

Ive got some custom code that im using to load user controls dynamically depending on the option a user selects from a menu control on the page.

I wanted to create an admin page that can be used to provide a one stop shop to complete all actions within an app im building, (like a template/iframe scenario that loads all selections in a screen on the right)

My code works, however when the user has completed an action sucesfully within one ascx, then selects another from the menu on the left, it wont load the new control, it comes up blank like it hasnt refreshed properly meaning that they have to close down the page and reopen it. (which is very annoying)

My codes below, can someone take a look and see if they can see whats wrong.

VS 2008 - Load Controls Dynamically - Won't Fire

Mar 12, 2010

I have a problem that I can't solve when I load controls dynamically. I have 3 states on a page that I traverse through and I load as many buttons on the page as the page state number + 1. For example, on state 0, I load 1 button, state 2 - 2 buttons, etc. The problem is after I move to a new page state, the button click event(s) of the dynamic buttons will not be wired up and won't fire until the second click of each button.

How to load a user control dynamically in a page?

I have a page that contains radioButtons. Each click on a radio button loads a user control (.ascx) in the page.

What I am doing is loading all controls at the same time, but set their visibility to false. When a user clicks a radiobutton I set the visibility of the specific user control to true.

As a result I am loading all the user controls on each postback.

Web Forms :: Load User Controls Dynamically?

Jul 19, 2010

i want to be able to load user controls and populate them with data from a sql database at runtime based on a status field in my database but im struggling to do this.

my default page.aspx holds the user controls (acts like a container). at the moment i had referenced all the user controls to load up when the page was loaded so:

[Code]....
[Code]....

i then created a procedure which reads from the database the "status field". so if the status field is "pending" then i want the uc:GRLOLApproval control to show up but im not sure where to put this code or how to do it. i want to be abel to load the control at runtime and run this code. in my default.aspx.cs code i have done the following in the page load:
[Code]....

i tried to reference te user control in my default.aspx page by doing: protected GRLOLApproval GRLOLApp; but it wouldnt recognise it because it not been reference in the source file.how do i reference it so that i can read the data from my database and write to the fields in uc:Collectionrequest. (I have exposed the properties in the uc:CollectionRequest that i want to access btw) have been working on this for days now and just cant seem to load the user control or access any properties.

Web Forms :: How To Load Dynamically UserControl That Contains Asp Controls

I tried 1

[Code]....

It doesn't works because it says that each control that has runat="server" must be in Form.I also tried 2:Because loader.Form is null, I create HtmlForm and added the ctrl to it and then added HtmlForm to loader's Control, BUT it says that it has 2 HtmlForm. So, instead I "injected" HtmlForm to loader like this
[Code]....

Now no error is occurred, BUT StringWriter is empty. don't tell me to add Page to solution and override OnRender. I want to do it as I mentioned above.

Web Forms :: Dynamically Load Usercontrol On TabClick?

Nov 16, 2010

When it comes to the usercontrol specially when they are loaded dynamically on the basis of certain conditions then it becomes a very confusing work. I have read in many forums that the dynamic controls have to be loaded in OnpreInit or OnInit. Some of those links are[URL] But this is useful only when if the we know that we have to load UserControl1, UserControl2 without considering any conditions. But what if I have a Tab control and for each Tab Click I have to load the UserControl dynamically. In that situation how can we add the control in either OnPreInit or OnInit. If I am not mistaken then in such case, then we can add usercontrol in certain events. If we are using a TabControl then we load in Tab_Click , if we are using Menu Control then we use Menu_Click and depending
upon the particular tab or Menu we load associated usercontrols. Hence in these conditions, how can we go with the logic mentioned by above links. I have this confusion for very long time . I am posting little portion of my project here. I am using RadTabControl but it doesnt matter if it is Microsoft TabControl. In the aspx, I have a code to define RadTabControl.

<telerik:RadTabStrip
ID="tabMemberDetails"
runat="server"
Skin="WebBlue"
MultiPageID="tabDetails" SelectedIndex="0"
Align="Justify"
ClickSelectedTab="true"
EnableViewState="false"
ReorderTabsOnSelect="true"
Width="1139px"
OnTabClick="tabMemberDetails_Click" ScrollChildren="true">
</telerik:RadTabStrip>

In the code behind, I am loading usercontrol on the basis of the particular TabClick. tabMeberDetails_Click fires whenever I click on the tabs.ViewState["ControlName"] stores UserControlName on the basis of certain condition and finally i load the usercontrol.

proteced void tabMemberDetails_Click(object sender,
RadTabStripEventArgs e)
{
Conditions......
{
ViewState["ControlName"]=........
}
viewDef=ViewState["ControlName"]
UserControl control = (UserControl)LoadControl("~/Controls/"
+ viewDef + ".ascx");
after this I add control to the RadTabStrip.................. and call bind method.........
}

As you can see from above, I am loading my usercontrol in tabMemberDetails_Click event. I see no other choice to do it in OnPreInit. Can anyone answer if this is the right way to do or there is another way that complies with the logic in the links given above.

AJAX :: Load ASCX Controls Dynamically?

Jan 12, 2010

I'm developing an ASP.NET application and I'm trying to do the following:

I'm going to have only one ASPX page splitted into two columns. On the left column is going to be a TreeView, and on the right column is going to be something to edit treeview's nodes.

When the user can select a treeview's node to edit on the right column. Depending on the node's depth fields on right column will vary.

I wondering to use ASCX controls and load on right column dinamically using AJAX, for example. Is there a better choice? Can I do that?

I don't want to reload the entire page when the user wants to edit a treeview's node. Maybe I'm going to need an UpdatePanel on the right column to load dinamically ASCX controls, isn't it?
