Php - Vb.net Load And Call Files Dynamically?
Nov 24, 2010
I'm a bit new to .net so i was wondering if a thing like this is possible. I'm having one basic aspx script that needs to load some "plugins". Every plugin has its own settings and it should perform different logics. What i'd do in php is create a class for each plugin, load that class, pass the settings file to it and call some method on that class that would give me some output. But is it even possible in vb.net? I'd need to have multiple files with multiple classes, load those files, depending on the plugin name and call some method on them to parse that plugin's settings.

I am working on a application which supports multiple languages and I am doing it using asp.net resources files. Now the problem is, its a product and each user wants to have their own translations.For Example there is a text say "Home"Some users want to say it "Home Page" and some wants to say "Main Page"
Is there any possibility to do create different resource files, for each users, for each page and then load them according to the user currently logged in?

I am loading my with web controls and loading them based on the URL parameters.I need to load a gridview if the user is in :&cat=8My web control has a method which I need to call. One of its parameters is a session which is created only when the category is 8.Technically I need a way of calling methods within my web control from my page. Placing it on page_load results in an error.

I have a confusion regarding ajax call.when an ajax call is done why is it so that a page load event is fired when its not a ful page request.
My understanding is that a page load event should not be called on an asynchronous postback.
Can any1 explain me why this is happening?
here is the code:
aspx page:
[Code]....
aspx.cs page:
[Code]....

I have a list of items that loads when I call the page controller and I have an Ajax.BeginForm that calls the same (Index) Action. If the Action sees that it's an Ajax request (Request.IsAjaxRequest()) then it returns a partial view. I even have a div that contains a message about the results loading. That all works fine, but my results can sometimes take awhile and I'd like to hit the page first and then make the Ajax request so the user sees the page quickly and sees the "loading" message. I know I could click my filter button (triggering the ajax call) using jquery on document.ready, but is there a more MVC way to do this?

I have the following web farm setup in production server. Browser --> HTTPS --> Load Balancer --> HTTP --> webserver node F5 Load balancer handles off box SSL termination. It implies that SSL resides on F5 load balancer. Problem Statement: Ajax calls do not go through unless "Access data sources across domains" option is enabled in IE security settings.
I have the similar setup in staging server except F5 Load balancer. The ASP.Net application makes perfect AJAX calls on both HTTP and HTTPS. However, the staging server web farm use windows NLB and SSL resides on individual web server nodes

I am using a third party service for location time(zonal).If I pass latitude and longitude of the location with service URL it returns the time of that location in XML format.But the problem is some of the time this service gets too much slow so because of that my home page gets stuck because its a synchronous call of that service.here my code-
string TimeZoneUrl = "http://ws.geonames.org/timezone?";
XmlDocument xmlDoc = new XmlDocument();
xmlDoc.Load(TimeZoneUrl + "lat=" + latitude + "&lng=" + longitude);
XmlElement root = xmlDoc.DocumentElement;
XmlNodeList nodes = root.SelectNodes("//*");
How can I make this a asynchronous call?

I have an ASP.NET3.5 (C#) ASPX page that is internationalized in 10 different languages.
The page is very complex in its structured with dozens of nested views driven by a state machine pattern.
EDIT: I am using the meta:resourcekey syntax in every asp control, which allows to use declarative syntax for Implicit Resource expressions.
I have been asked to "brand" the page based on some query string parameter. Branding will mean not just loading different CSS files, but also having different text blurbs (in all languages).
Is there an easy way to "swap" resx files without having to get resources manually for each of the hundreds of literals and images that I have on this page?
In other words, let's say I have the following RESX files:
brand1_myPage.aspx.en-US.resx
brand1_myPage.aspx.de-DE.resx
brand1_myPage.aspx.fr-FR.resx
brand2_myPage.aspx.en-US.resx
brand2_myPage.aspx.de-DE.resx
brand2_myPage.aspx.fr-FR.resx
myPage.aspx will be looking for resx files named myPage.xx-XX.resx.
Is there a way to load instead either the brand1xxx.resx files or the brand2xxx.resx based on some value?

if it is possible to read data from a CD and load multiple files from it without actually having to browse for each one through an ASP page. I searched the web and all I can come with is to set however many number of file upload controls onto a page and upload each file individually whereas I am looking to search a directory and upload all files with a certain extension with only one file upload control.

I'm trying to write some code to use reflection to load new assemblies. I observed the file system with FileSystemWatcher, so that if anything in the folder changed, I can get notified and then reload them.
Firstly I have an assembly filters.dll loaded. Let's say its version is 1.0.0. Then when I have a new one v1.0.1, I paste it into the folder and replace the older one. Of course this fires "Change" event of FileSystemWatcher, and finally lead to assembly reloading.
Everything works fine, but I just want to know, what would happen to the firstly loaded assembly? Get replaced by the newer one? Or still somewhere in the memory?

I have a site that gets deployed to over a dozen clients. The main website has a base template, and each client has a client folder that overrides the colours. The problem is that there are a lot of CSS files, so making a change that forces us to update every client takes a long time. The automated build process takes care of replacing the updated files.
I would like to change the CSS files to be usercontrols instead, and those usercontrols could then inherit from another usercontrol where client specific values are stored.
So instead of having a forms.css file and then a /client/forms.css file I would have a Forms.ascx file that inherits from a usercontrol that contains the colours.
Ex:
[code]....
Then the masterpage would inherit from the usercontrol instead. This would make the maintenance of the client sites much easier.
If this is possible, would it also be possible to have the Forms.ascx control output the markup as CSS? Or make the extension .css and still have the ascx properties?

I now embed them so they're compiled with my core.
It would be nice if i can make changes to a reports layout without having to recompile anything. Is that possible?
