I have issue while inserting image in DB (using MS SQL 2008). Also using microsoft enterprise liberary 4.0.

I have a table right now with just customer_id and customer_name and I want to add an image field to upload their logo.
I've searched and found articles on how to create a table and to upload an image for a new row but how do I update or add a picture to an existing row.
So if I browse through my table and found a customer without a logo or an outdated logo, how do I replace and update their logo?

i have a webpage built in asp.net c#. it always a user to create a new record in a db table. there are there are two input fields, text and score. text cannot be a null value so if the user doesn't input text onsubmit, the page errors out. i want to throw in some simple error handling code in the code behind page. i've tried including an if/else on_inserted method but ran into some java script errors.

An explicit value for the identity column in table 'emp' can only be specified when a column list is used and IDENTITY_INSERT is ON.
i have set Identitty specification and is identity of the table as yes so i am getting this problem whenevr i set it to no i am not getting any error,can anyone explain me why i am getting this error??

I have the logged-in user's Guid stored in a session variable. My understanding is that when the Guid is passed to the session variable it becomes a string. When I use the detailsview control I have to convert the session variable back to a guid and I've been doing it like this and it seems to work fine:
e.values("UserId") = session("LoggedInUserId")
Dim UserId as Guid = New Guid()
When I try to use the Insert() command after the following:
SqlDataSource3.InsertParameters("UserId").DefaultValue = Session("LoggedInUserId")
I get an "InvalidCastException" error with the comment "Conversion from type 'Guid' to type 'String' is not valid." I'm assuming the session variable needs to be converted to a type Guid since that's what I've had to do with the Detailsview control. I've tried a few different ways of converting the session variable back to a Guid so the insert command will work, but no matter which method of conversion I try I get errors such as "value of type system.guid cannot be converted to 'string'. I'm confused because I thought I was supposed to convert it from a string to a Guid. The "UserId" parameter is a non-primary key uniqueidentifier in the database.

I'm getting the following error message:
Unable to cast object of type 'System.Data.Linq.DataQuery`1[Username]' to type 'Username'.
I've been searching but can't find a solution. This particular table has 4 columns. The first column is the int indentifier. Column 2 is "username" (varchar50) and is the primary key. Column3 is "userID" (uniqueidentifier) and column 4 is "active" (varchar5)

I'm using Microsoft Oracle Data Provider(System.Data.OracleClient). As soon as I get the string (SC1101E,B+,) in my input parameter, I get the below error:-
"ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small"
Strange, as this same query works completely fine with my SQL client/toad.
The database type is varchar2 with 2000 length. A lot of longer strings easily able to be updated. But as soon as above string get in the parameter, the code starts vomitting error.

I am creating a web form that requires a lot of validation. I use many of the validation control in asp.net already like RequiredFieldValidator and CompareValidator.
My Problem: after my custom validation for the value entered return an error message, and I pressed enter key when the field is empty, my custom error message is overlapped by my ValidationSummary.
Setting my custom error to visible = false on button click also does not seem to work as it requires for me to enter the value first.
This made me think, is there a way to insert my custom validation inside the ValidationSummary as an error message like for other validation control?

I have tried both examples above, and some variants of them, but I'm getting errors.
With Ex 1 I get:
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException was unhandled by user code
ErrorCode=-2147217913
Message="Data Type Mismatch." [code]....
what is wrong with both examples above?I'm adding values to all fields in the table, except for the ID field, ofcouse.

I'm having some problems with the interface I've created. I am getting value and ids in a string using for loop on the controls(objects). After some searching, I've discovered that it isinserting an empty string into my database fields as opposed
to an null value. I need my application to insert NULL values, not emptry strings. Can any one suggest me on this and also how can i prevent sql injection on the above code. because i am passing like following :

I'm using Enterprise library, but the idea is the same. I have a SqlStringCommand and the sql is constructed using StringBuilder in the forms of "insert into table (column1, column2, column3) values (@param1-X, @param2-X, @parm3-X)" + " ";where "X" reprents a "for loop" about 700 rows like so

So after all is done, I have 700 insert statements in one batch and of course, I did another 700 loops and added the values to those parameters. It runs fine and fast for a few days. However, last night, suddenly I get this error

I am not able to figure out why I am getting the null error at SqlDataSource10.Insert(); I tried running through break points and i checked the Insert statement and it has all the required values .. but I get error saying it cannot insert null into NrNarrativeDays. I am working on a web app for an online photo album. It is the last project in Scott Mitchell's book: "ASP.Net 2.0 in 24 hours".
I am creating a page where users can enter new photo images. The functionality for uploading an image will come later. I am working on just inserting a new row into the Pictures table with an optional category, a required title and a required description.
I am getting an error when I try to insert a new row.
Here is a screenshot of the page with a shot of the dropdown list.
The Categories are user-specific. I am getting the correct values retrieved.

There are two pretty simple database tables involved here.
NOTE: The CategoryID and PIctureID are both autoincrement integer columns.

The page uses a DetailsView that uses a SqlDataSource that uses the Pictures table. (The DetailsView's Default Mode property is set to "Insert". The "Enable Inserting" checkbox is also checked.)
The dropdown list uses a dropdown control that uses a SqlDataSource that uses the Categories table.
When the "Insert" button is clicked the CategoryID value associated with selected (Category) Name on the dropdown list will be used along with the Title and Description values to insert a row in to the Pictures table. (If no Category value is selected, then a null value will be used for the CategoryID. This is OK because the CategoryID column in the Pictures table allows nulls.)
My problem is that I am getting this error:
Cannot insert explicit value for identity column in table 'Pictures' when IDENTITY_INSERT is set to OFF.
(FYI: I have the full version of both Visual Studio and SQL Server.)

I would like to know how to format a string date so it can be inserted in a DataTime field in MS SQL 2005 using ASP.NET 3.5 with C#.
I have a form with 3 Dropdownlists; 1 for selecting days(1 to 31), 1 for month (1 to 12) and 1 for years (say 1980 to 2010).
When the form is submitted, I want to join the selected values from the dropdownlist as a string ( say dd/mm/yyyy) and insert that into a datetime field in a database table.

I am attempting inserting into an Access database, and the insert is successful (when I open the database the data is there), but I'm getting an error: "The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again."This is really confusing me. No matter what I insert, it still gives me the same error. And I don't understand why it's giving me an error even though it's working. Here's my codebehind:
