trying to insert an image in a column defined type as image using a wizard in MSSQLSErver2008.
but wizard option for insert, update, delete is not allowing. what is the trick?
I have a data bound column in grid view. When a particular value in a cell is getting processed I want to display an image in the cell.

I have a Gridview, lets call it GVDistinctDate which displays Distinct Date in one column only. For example: I got 5 rows, and 1 column where the column only display distinct dates such as 02/04/2010 | 03/04/2010 | 04/04/2010 | 05/04/2010 | 06/04/2010 where obviously this dates come from a table in the database.
Now i want to take those dates in GVDistinctDate and assign it to another gridview, lets call it GVReport, as column Header Text. For this GVReport, the first column would be StudentID where a list of studentid will be displayed, and then starting from the second column onwards, where the Header Text would be the dates from GVDistinctDate, will display a Status of absent or present according to the studentID and the corresponding date. How do it get the dates from GVDistinctDate into the column Header Text of GVReport?
AND how do it display the Present or Absent status based on the studentID in column 1 GVReport and the dates on the Header Text? Below are the codes of how i got the distinct date into GVDistinctDate

Just wondering if anyone has ever managed to find a way to have a datagridview image button column in a template field which display different images on different rows depending on some data element in the row. Our application needs to display a series of fees charged against an account column which will be either less then 500, 500 to 1000 or >1000. Some of those fees are charged at a full rate, others at a partial rate, and some are not charged at all. The user would like to see a simple 3-state graphic which would convey the simple info: full-charge, partial-charge, or no-charge. Sounds easy enough but I've not yet managed to find a way to do this. Every time I attempt to modify the individual cell's graphic it seems to want to change the graphic for all the rows.

I am creating a page where users can enter new photo images. The functionality for uploading an image will come later. I am working on just inserting a new row into the Pictures table with an optional category, a required title and a required description.
I am getting an error when I try to insert a new row.

The Categories are user-specific. I am getting the correct values retrieved.

There are two pretty simple database tables involved here.
NOTE: The CategoryID and PIctureID are both autoincrement integer columns.

The page uses a DetailsView that uses a SqlDataSource that uses the Pictures table. (The DetailsView's Default Mode property is set to "Insert". The "Enable Inserting" checkbox is also checked.)
The dropdown list uses a dropdown control that uses a SqlDataSource that uses the Categories table.
When the "Insert" button is clicked the CategoryID value associated with selected (Category) Name on the dropdown list will be used along with the Title and Description values to insert a row in to the Pictures table. (If no Category value is selected, then a null value will be used for the CategoryID. This is OK because the CategoryID column in the Pictures table allows nulls.)
My problem is that I am getting this error:
Cannot insert explicit value for identity column in table 'Pictures' when IDENTITY_INSERT is set to OFF.
(FYI: I have the full version of both Visual Studio and SQL Server.)

View 1 RepliesI have a 1-column gridview (and it must remain 1-column) which contains only text. My requirement is to prefix each row with an image followed by the text. The image may or may not be indented a bit, like an expanded child node in a tree.
I know a gridview renders as a table and I know I could put an image at the beginning of each row in a table (using a repeater, for example). But this is an existing app with a couple gridviews which need to be enhanced and I don't have the time to swap out the gridviews for repeaters.
I have image in the image folder and in my oracle database I have a column with the name IMG which has the name of the image like ab.jpg
I have another column with name IMG1 which is storing the whole url like images/ab.jpg
I can see all the values of my database table in my dataset as well including IMG column and IMG1 column

I have a GridView control in my aspx page with a column that represents logging levels. Instead of displaying the word, e.g"Info", "Debug", "Error", etc. I want to display an image from a file. It seems like I may be able to do this with a template but I have been unable to find any examples of exactly how I would do this.
If "Info" then display "images/info.gif
If "Error" then display "images/error.gif
etc.

when i am in ItemTemplate all the column (7 column) are label so it fit to the current screen
by when i use EditItemTemplate or InsertItemTemplate the coulmn don't fit the the current screen and
i have to use the ruler in order to see more information about the cell (which is ok - because in each cell i have a dropdownlist or long textbox)

I'm currently working on a small project and therefore created a gridview, including one bit column which has been linked with a checkbox in both the itemtemplate as the edititemtemplate (autopostback = true).Databinding for these two checkboxes has been linked (two-way) to the bit column.Now I want to display the gridview to end-users. They should be able to just click on the checkbox so they value in the database column gets changed as well (as I want to run update queries behind it), but not passing via the command column 'EDIT'.=> problem I'm having now is that the bit column in the database doesn't get updated.
