I have a ReportViewer control on my aspx page that displays a report defined in an rdlc file. The rdlc has a textbox for displaying the number of rows on the report (using the =Count function).
I am looking for a way to retrieve the value of this textbox in my code-behind.
I'm trying to user ValidatorCalloutExtender on my login page but I'm having some trouble with it. I have two TextBoxes, two RequiredFieldValidators and two ValidatorCalloutExtenders. Here's my page's code:

So, my problem is quite simple, I guess. When the user press "ButtonLogin", the first ValidatorCallout is displayed requesting that the user enter his username. The validation text for the password field isn't displayed. If I enter the username and then try to post the form again, the validation text for the password isn't displayed at all. The text is displayed only after I click on TextBoxPassword. Is there any way to solve this? If I wasn't using ValidatorCalloutExtender, text for both validators would be displayed. So, I'm guessing that internally both validators actually trigger. The second isn't displayed because the first one is already been displayed. But even after entering text on the first textbox, the text doesn't come up. I believe it's still thinking that the first validator is been displayed.
The values in one of the fields in my GridView's table are just either a zero or a one or a null. Well, "zero," "one," and "" are not very appropriate values to display to the end user. Is there a way I could change these to "True"/"False"/"NA" or "Yes"/"No"/"NA"?

I have a gridview in which I have several editable fields. The user wants a non-editable field to be modified if another field is modified in the same row. e.g. if Age>=65, Status should ="Retired"

to create a bulk edit gridview so some columns are automatically editable and others aren't, with a single update button. I can set Status="Retired" in the xml generated, or as a rule in database table. But I'd like the status field in the gridview to change when Age is modified and to be shown to user before they press the single Update button. I'm using update panels and ajax on the page also.

If I am working with 2 textboxs on a form, and I set the "Autopostback" to "true" for the first texbox then on the "changed" event, I can just add code to set the visibility to "true or "false" for the second textbox - it works fine. My user enters information into this table using a Dataview form that displays the 4 fields.
When the user enters the value "L" in the field "LevelOfActivity", I would like to then set the visibility of the field "Discount" to "false" - (I want to hide the field as this customer should not get a discount). If the user enters the value "H" in the field "LevelOfActivity", I would like to then set the visibility of the field "Discount" to "true" - (I want to show the field so the user can enter the "Discount").

I've run into this before, but I was using a formsview and just changed the field to hidden. I am trying to get the value of a cell out of a gridview to a variable and here is the code:

This works perfectly if column 6 is visible, but because it's an id number (which is not the primary key) I do not want it visible, but changing it to visible="false" causes this code to return null. Changing it back to visible and it works.
I'm not sure why the visiblity of a control changes the functionality of it.

I've got data in a DetailsView control which shows the data and expands the rows to suit the content.
However, when I click to edit the information, the editing area changes to just a few characters wide.
How do I change the size of the editing area to match the view data state?

View 6 RepliesI have seen several Web Sites that use GridViews that have lookup fields with different Value and Text Fields (as in drop down lists) but I can't seem to figure it out how to display the Text Field in the Item Template when the Text Field is not in the datasource. .
Here's what I have. I have a Gridview whose datasource is a Linq to SQL Invoice table, e.g.
InvoiceID
CustomerID
InvoiceNumber
THe Customer table is related to the Invoice Table thru the CustomerID. The relationship is defined in SQL Server and is displayed in the DBML.
I have created a template field for the CustomerID field in the Gridview. I would like to display the CustomerName when the Item Template is displayed and a DropDownList in the Edit Template. The DropDownList works great, but I cannot seem to figure out how to display the CustomerName in then Item Template.
I seem to remember seeing in some video that you can simply drag the CustomerName into the CustomerID Item Template Field. But I can't seem to find the customerName field. The DataSource includes the Customer Table because of the relationship, but no fields are displayed.
I suspect this is real simple, but I cannot seem to find an article or video that explains how to do this.
I know how to catch a key pressed, but I don't know how to do that in a gridview to get the the row index and the value of the field. Explanation in the code below (it is going to be more clear I guess) :
