Jan 27, 2010In my detailsview, I have an emptydatatemplate set up to allow users to enter new records. The code works. However, once the record is inserted, the detailsview defaults to a standard insert screen. I know this will cause confusion for the users. I would prefer the detailsview to either show in edit mode or a read-only mode. I have used detailsview.changemode and detailsview.currentmode in the custom sub created for the add new button of the emptydatatemplate- neither of which do what I was hoping. It would be even better if when there was no data, it defaulted to the insert screen (which seems like that should be an easy, no-brainer way for .net to function) but it doesn't. Or, I don't know how to accomplish it.
I don't want to force the user to click cancel after inserting an item through the emptydatatemplate just to be able to use the detailsview for other records.

May 8, 2010I have two ListBoxes. I can move items from one list box to the other. I have an Insertcommand for inserting added values from the "ActivePrograms" list box to a db.
my problem is that it inserts only one item when sometimes the user added multiple items.
how do I insert all existing items from "ActivePrograms" list box?:
second issue: how do I make sure the insert command go through the list of items in the listbox and makes sure these rows does mot already exsited in the db? in other words insert only NEW values for that 'Id' value

Mar 22, 2010I'm using a formview in Insert mode with an AccessDataSource. I want to switch to readonly mode upon insertion to let the user confirm the input worked, then give them the option to insert a new record. If I set the DefaultMode to Insert, then after the first record is inserted, I get a new blank insertion form (no confirmation). If I set the DefaultMode to ReadOnly, after insertion, I get a blank form (presumably because I am not on the record just inserted).
How do I get the just inserted record to display? If I need to set the ID of the formview to the just inserted record OnInserted, how do I get that given I'm using an AccessDataSource?

Apr 18, 2010I have a web project with more than 100 input boxes , so in every INSERT and UPDATE to sql server in front of sql statement I must put the golden N word, so it will be in UNICODE mode. Do we have some alternative of this? How can i make it in EVERY UPDATE and INSERT to sql server in data layer level- make it like u insert UNICODE (without N word) How can you get MSSQL server to accept Unicode data by default into a VARCHAR or NVARCHAR column?
I know that you can do it by placing a N in front of the string to be placed in the field but to by quite honest this seems a bit archaic in 2008 and particuarily with using SQL Server 2005. Example:

Forms Data Controls :: ListBox, Array List / Update The Listbox Content?
Mar 26, 2011I am designing a program that will let me enter the name of an item to swap and adds the swap to an array list when a button Add is pressed. Once the item is added to the array list a Sub Procedure should be called which displays the contents of the array list in a list box.
The system will also allow me to remove items from the array list using a Remove button
followed by updating array list.
I have done some part which puts item into the listbox1 which i named lstSwapList.I would need some assistance on the Sub Procedure to display the Value or Description on the other listbox2 which i have also named lstContent,if a value is selected from the listbox1.
I would also want to know how to update the Listbox content,However i hv added a sample of the way i guess it may be.
Any complete solution from anybody on the Sub Procedure and the Update Swap procedure will be greately appreciated.

Web Forms :: How To Insert More Than 100 Items In A ListBox
Jan 18, 2011I'm trying to populate 1000 ListItems in a ListBox.
how to do it. Currently only 100 items are being displayed even though I set the capacity of the ListBox to 1000.
Below is sort of how my code looks like. :)
listBox.Items.Capacity = 1000;
foreach(entity ent in enitityCollection)

ListItem listItem = new ListItem();
listItem.Value = ent.Id.ToString();
listItem.Text = ent.Name;
listBox.Items.Add(listItem);
}
entityCollection has 989 records in it.
Code does not generate any error. only that at the end of the loop I only get 100 items mapped to my ListBox.
Is this how the ListBox is designed for?
