Jan 20, 2011I have a boolean / bit value in the database called "is_paid". Depending on this value I want to Disable a button. (the same would go for example to set a textbox not Visible, but anyway)
What I want is to Disable the button, if my boolean is 1 (true).
First I tried to convert my boolean value to text:

So another trial I did was to CAST the data from the database to be the text that I want, like so:
SELECT not_paid = CASE WHEN is_paid = 0 THEN 'True' WHEN is_paid = 1 THEN 'False' END ....
And my code changed to:

Oct 23, 2010This is probably something very simple that I've over looked, but I have a template field in a details view. In the field there is a html <p> tag that is bound to a database field. The database field is set to nvarchar(max) and will usually be very long. When the text is loaded into the <p> tag, it is not wrapped and does not go onto a new line when it reaches the edge of the screen.

I tried several ways (i.e. Find control, DetailsView.Row) but nothing seems to work. I don't know if I'm using the FindControl methos correctly or if I need to access the Row first and do the findcontrol method.

Jan 15, 2010I am trying (unsuccessfully) to pre-select a radiobutton control (within a DetailsView control) based on a value found in a database.
There are only two values: "Yes" and "No". A field in the database has one of the values in it and I want the correct item selected when the record is displayed in Edit mode.
All my other record fields are displayed correctly--this is the only one giving me issues. I am using vb.

Mar 26, 2013in my module there are data of students for H.S.C., C.E.T, AND H.S.C+C.E.T. so when i run the gridview page all the data of all streams together is displayed so i sort the data using a dropdownlist...means if 1 select the H.S.C in dropdownlist only the H.S.C students are being displayed.so the problem is when i sort the data by selecting a stream in dropdownlist at that time the error message of required field validator is displayed...
1) I wil select the stream from Dropdownlist and click the "sort button"
2) After the data is been sorted and i will enter the values in   the TextBox and if i'll miss any of the textbox blank and i click on the "submit button" after dat the error should be displayed
as "Required".

When testing it, if I type in the same name including the same case structure, it returns an error. If I change one letter to a different case, it doesn't return an error but rather my SQL server returns a duplicate error. How do I change the server-side validator so that it picks up duplicate names regardless of case?

Forms Data Controls :: FormView Control Only Renders Server-side Objects?
Mar 25, 2010I have just run into a situation with a FormView control where any markup that is not given an ID and runat=server attribute is NOT rendered to the browser.
In other words, all of the extranneous markup (h#, fieldsets, legends, divs, labels, etc.) that are in my Edit Template DO NOT render to the browser at run-time. However, if I add an ID to any of those items and add runat="server" then they are rendered.
Has anybody every seen anything like this? Does anybody know what could possibly cause this?

But I´m trying to do that programmatically, not with the sqldatasource. So I wrote the method that binds data to Detailsview and I call it in the page_load. The problem is that I have to click two times on the select button to view the detailsview. The first time I click on the select button nothing happens.

Aug 6, 2010I use DetailsView to insert rows in database. Row has fields id, subcategory_id etc. I want to fill dynamically dropdownlist ddl_subcategories, which is used in TemplateField. Selected item value of first dropdownlist ddl_categories is used as parameter for generating collection for ddl_subcategories. I try it with using UpdatePanel, but method DataBind returns error "Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control.".

Why Does Controls.Add Called Inside Custom Control Adds The Validator To The Parent Page
Jan 2, 2010there is a sample code for creating a custom textbox control with built in validation posted here Building ASP.NET TextBox with Integrated Validation And Switchable Input Modes. Inside the code there is a call to Controls.Add(validator) which adds the asp.net validator control to the textbox. when the textbox is used on the page, the validator is rendered to the page although the validator is added to the textbox and not to the page!

Oct 4, 2010I'm trying to add and edit an image which is located in a detailsview which is inside an UpdatePanel. After I read relevant topics in the forum I installed the Ajax Control Toolkit. Below is my source code. When I used it only for insert new image it worked great. The problem caused when I tried to implement it on the Edit mode, i.e. when I tried to edit the image and upload a different image. Unfortunately it didn't work as I hoped. Nothing happend and the image hasn't been changed. I also tried to change the IDs (AsyncFileUpload ID) to be the same in both places but it didn't work either.
