Couple quick questions:What's the difference between FormView1_ItemUpdating and FormView1_OnUpdating? Do they occur at different times in the update process?Still can't get my code to upload the file...what am I missing?

I have a formview with an entitydatasource. I am using a fileupload control in the formview to upload file to a folder. The file upload works fine. The formview is bound to a table x with a field for storing the filepath. I want the uploaded filepath to be stored in that field after fileupload. My html is as follows. I tried setting the textbox txtImageURI to the filepath in Formview_ItemInserting event, but the data did not get store.

i have the following scenario: one formview. when in editmode there is a child formview linked to the other by a column value. i need to take the value of one of the values of parent formview controls and set it to a textbox of child formview in insert mode. I wish to know which event should I use in codebehind to bind both controls? (that escenario will have paging and must keep the binding as if it was master detail)

For example, if txtPatientType.Text = "Inpatient" then txtInpatientType.Visible needs to be True. Very simple code follows.

I'm making a fairly simple online database where a user can upload a PDF file, along with 4 other data fields to a SQL DB. I have it working ok, sending the PDF to the DB as binary data. The problem is I would like to use a ListView control for the user to enter all of their data and choose the file to upload. When I use a ListView I receive the following error:
No mapping exists from object type System.Web.HttpInputStream to a known managed provider native type.

I have two fileupload controls in footer of gridview with their corresponding checkboxes.
The autopostback property is set to true for both the checkboxes. Now after uploading file on one fileupload when i check the second checkbox, it detains(losses) its value.
How can i retain the value of first fileupload control on postback

However, when I click the 'InsertQuery' for the Accessdatasource neither of these controls are available as 'Parameter source options'.Out of interest, if I take these dropdown controls out of the formview and put them on the page they then become available to use.

I have a gridview with edit field. It has a footer row for insertion functionality. Now i also have a fileupload control in footer for uploading files on server. The url of files are stored in sql server2005. Now i have a fileupload control in <edititemtemplate> of gridview which can be used for uploading files while updating of gridview.
Now my req is whenever i upload file with fileupload control in <edititemtemplate> it should update the url of corresponding file in sqlserver2005. My query for update in sqldatasource is-

I use a GridView control to select the row to display within the FormView. The FormView contains a RadioButtonList to facilitate the selection of one of its values. My C# codebehind contains a "selected_index changed event to grab the values from any of the modified FormView controls. My problem is that it is not picking up the selected radio button. For example, if the dropdown was not in the FormView I would simply use...

Instead of usng FormView with SQLDataSource control, I like to use it with LINQ-to-SQL. For example, can I write my own LINQ to SQL for Edit and Update? Will FormView control work in this way?

View 2 RepliesI am doing a library application. I am using a formview control to display and edit the details of an existing borrower.
What I wish to do is to allow the user to enter the borrower barcode into a textbox and select the details of the borrower corresponding to the barcode.
At present I have kept the textbox and a button outside the formview. Once the user enters the barcode in the texbox and clicks the button, the data is displayed in the formview control.
Now, my doubt is that is there a way to keep the textbox inside the formview control itself and use the value(Which should be user input) for selecting the details?
I want to add some functionality into a formview when it is in its "editable" state. I want to have a check box and if a user clicks the checkbox then it makes certain text areas and labels appear inside a table. Seems straightforward except that I am not sure how to access a formview in a code behind and do it when its in the editable state and then I have the consideration of the ProfileDataSource which shouldn't matter because thats not part of manipulating the visual elements inside the Formview.
