Forms Data Controls :: Change A Value In Formview?

how to set a RadioButton List control's ListItem to True or False based on the Databound field?

I tried using Selected='<%# (Bind("multiple_line_required") == "Y") ? true : false %>' but it threw an eror saying that it is not a databind control.

For example I have this control in a FormView:

<asp:FormView ID="AddOnsFormView" runat="server" DefaultMode="Edit"
ondatabinding="AddOnsFormView_DataBinding"
ondatabound="AddOnsFormView_DataBound"
onitemcreated="AddOnsFormView_ItemCreated">
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:RadioButtonList ID=RadioButtonList1" runat="server">
<asp:ListItem Value="N" Selected='<%# (Bind("multiple_line_required") == "Y") ? true : false %>' >No</asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem Value="Y">Yes</asp:ListItem>
</asp:RadioButtonList>
<asp:TextBox ID="AmountTextBox" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("amount") %>' />
<asp:TextBox ID="AmountTextBox" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("quantity") %>' />
</EditItemTemplate>
</asp:FormView>

Forms Data Controls :: Change Textbox To Proper Case Using Formview?

Feb 23, 2011

I have a Formview where students put their information in such as name, address, etc. The text boxes are bound to my database, so once they are done, they choose to update, and my database is updated with their information. My problem is that the students often use All Caps to enter in their information.

I think I need the StrConv somehow, but I just can't seem to get this done. I've seen where it could be done with text boxes, but not when they were in a Formview using parameters.

Forms Data Controls :: How To Change A Textbox To Dropdownlist In Formview Insert Mode

Jan 5, 2010

I created a formview that I am using for data input (DefaultMode=Insert)

One of the objects I have is a text box (see below)

[code]....

When I click submit I get a message that I cannot insert a Null into the field IntershipNumAvailable. This makes sense since I made this field a required field in the database.

How do I get the form to recognize that the user selected item is the one I want to write to the database?

What changes do I need to make here? Do I need to make changes to my parameter list?

Forms Data Controls :: Change Binding Based On Formview Insert Or Edit?

Apr 24, 2010

I'm using an edittemplate to handle both editing and inserting for a Formview. In Insert mode, the Identity parameter is not needed (and cannot be used in the parameter list). In Edit mode, I need the bound value to know which record to update. So, what I tried to do is set the Text property in the OnDataBinding method.

[Code]....

The result is that the field is bound for Insert anyway, shows up as a parameter, and my insert statement fails (since this extra field messes up the field order of the parameters). Plus, it is always null in Insert mode by definition.

Is the OnDataBinding method too late to clear the property? If so, where can I do this, since PageLoad is too early (the template has not loaded yet and I cannot Findcontrol the field. Or is there a better way to handle all this?

Forms Data Controls :: Change Property Value Of An Object Based On A Database Value?

Nov 18, 2010

I'm new to ASP so this may seem so simple but I cannot work it out.

I am trying to create a script that changes its output based on a range of values. Here is what I mean:

I have a MSSQL database with an ASP scripted website that reads it and displays the data in a table. One of the columns in the database is a percentage and I want that column in the web page to have a background colour based on the figure outputted.

So each cell may be a different colour. If the number is between 0 and 30 then red background, 31 to 70 orange etc.

At the moment I have the database output script looking like this:

[Code]....

How can I implement what I have outlined above?
