Forms Data Controls :: How Do Code Events For The Inner Gridview

Nov 17, 2009

I have two nested gridviews a la master details described in

what am trying is to add edit/delete and select functionality to the inner grid, so that the user will be able to add more inner items. The edit/delete functionality doesnt have to be made with the commandfields if thats too complicated.

While using the

CommandField ShowDeleteButton="True" and

allow me to do the select part on when the inner rows are clicked (update the database and change the selected row background)

i dont know how to process for the edit and delete cases(currently are implemented as commandfields) because i cannot get e reference for the currently selected row, current datakeys, indices, or any other data that could give me the selected row.

these events are handled (to my best knowledge) in the RowCommand event and i have not been able to single out the selected row, whis is the reason for this post.

Forms Data Controls :: PageIndexChanging And Other Events Of Gridview Is Not Working

Jun 3, 2010

I am working on object data source and datagridview. I have given object data source to the grid view as the data source of grid. The issue which i m facing is that whenever i click on next page(like 2 or 3 or 1) it takes lot of time to fire. although it is fired but I have to wait a minute or two and then it fired.

Whenever I click any event(e.g. next page , page 5 ,3 or edit etc) of gridview it does not give response. If I wait for a minute then click one of event then it performs, and then again I have to wait to fire other event.

Forms Data Controls :: DropDownList Events When In Gridview Header?

Mar 23, 2011

I'm currently facing an annoying problem that i can't seem to figure out. I have a gridview in my page, and i wanted to add a second header row to it. Well, i did that without any problems using the code below.

No problems so far. I then intended to add some filter to my gridview and so added a dropdown list in this second header i had created.

I simply added the control i previously had to my cell of the header.

The problem is that now, the SelectedValueChanged event is not firing when i change the value on my dropdown list. If i place her out of the gridview, the event fires normally, when placed inside the gridview the event apparently stops firing.

I have tried this with and without AutoPostback ON, though the final goal would be to have that option on OFF. (The postback would be caused by some other button on the same second header row, allowing the user to combine multiple filters simultaneosly)

Forms Data Controls :: Events Of Gridview Not Getting Fired - PageIndexChanging - Postback

Dec 11, 2009

I am faing a problem With gridview that, the Events are not getting fire. I made a simple application . in that there is a dropdown . whe have to choose some Value in it and Click Search. The Postback occurs and the Dataset is filled with approriate Sql Query And Attached to grid view. I aslo want to do Paging . Thus made AllowPaging="true" , But the pAging was not happning. When Ever i click on the paging Numericals as 2 ,3 ,4.... then There was a postback but The events are not getting Fired. I Google and found that i can do Event handling. So in page_load i wrote code as:

if (!IsPostBack)
gViewData.PageIndexChanging += new GridViewPageEventHandler(this.gViewData_PageIndexChanging);
But It again Failed,
I tried to use many propertis Of Grid view But all in Vain My code is
<asp:GridView ID="gViewData" runat="server" AllowPaging="true"
AllowSorting="true" PageSize="10" EnableSortingAndPagingCallbacks="True"
onrowcommand="gViewData_RowCommand" PageIndex="1" ShowFooter="True">
Code behind:
protected void Btn_Sumbit_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
private void BindData()
... GEt data from Database
protected void gViewData_PageIndexChanging(object sender, GridViewPageEventArgs e)
gViewData.PageIndex = e.NewPageIndex;

Forms Data Controls :: Main Difference Between Using Gridview And Datalist

Sep 17, 2009

I am building a website which include a shopping cart. I have been following some of tutorials in this website and also a book called ASP.NET 2.0 Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition Starter Kit. And Althought both this website and the book have been great help, I am at the point of creating my shopping cart as explained in the book. However the problem which I am facing is as follow:

In the book in the databse which has been used there are two tables that form menu, called MenuItemTable and SizeAndPrice, and it has used Datalist and repeater to show the menu. However in my database I only have one table representing the menu and I have used Gridview to show the menu.

But my question is that is DataList is only suitable for when we are trying to extract information from more than one table or could it be used even if ther is only one table representing the menu.

Forms Data Controls :: Dynamic CheckBox Inside GridView Not Firing Events

Nov 8, 2010

I've been reading up on the problems with dynamically created controls and how they have been solved. The posts I have come across are creating the controls in a panel or some other open place. I can't seem to get my checkbox to fire the event from inside a gridview. below is the code behind from inside the GridView PreRender event.

..And the Checked Event..

So after all this, nothing happens. I get the postback flash but my command inside the checked event doesn't fire.I tried putting the dynamic creation of the checkbox in Page Load with no effect.. I think because I can't place the checkbox inside the GridView under page load.

Forms Data Controls :: Handling Events From A User Control Inside A GridView?

Jun 4, 2010

I have a user control called ucTriStateButton. It raises an event when it is clicked, called TriStateButtonClicked. If I put this user control on a page, it works fine. Here is the declaration on the .aspx page:

When the button is clicked the method tsbTest_TriStateButtonClicked executes correctly.

The problem is when I put the user control in template field of a GridView.

There is no way to hook the event handler to the control in Page_Load because I cannot get a reference to tsbMorning. So I did it in the RowDataBound event handler of the GridView, where I also do a bunch of other row-specific stuff. Although this builds and runs, the event is never actually subscribed to and so never gets fired.

So the question is - how can I handle an event from many instances of the same user control within a GridView? I am calling the same bit of code regardless of which user control is actually clicked. I only need to know that one was clicked.

Forms Data Controls :: User Control Inside Gridview Row - Raising Events

Sep 17, 2009

On the form I am currently working on I have a gridview(TicketsGridview), a user control(CallsGrid), and some panels containing forms. The project is basically a online ticketing system - and on this page the gridview is a grid displaying all tickets. The user control is a gridview that shows all calls and shipments for a ticket. The user control (CallsGrid) - is a grouping (or expand/collapse) gridview and a asp:button (AddNew). On my form, I have a Panel (AddNewPanel) that has a form in it that lets users add a new call. My user control has an event, AddNewClicked. When the add new button is clicked, this event is raised - and what I want to have happen is have my AddNewPanel.visible = true when this button is clicked.

So I created and raised the AddNew event in the CallsGrid user control - but I don't know where to "catch" this event on my page. At first glance, I checked to see if CallsGrid_AddNewClicked was available, and it does not appear to be. After that, I would think it would have to be in the rowcommandevent of the tickets grid - but I have no way to access a "commandname" property? Am I on the right track? Is this making any sense?

Forms Data Controls :: Combining OnRowDataBound And OnRowCommand Events Causes OnRowCommand Not To Fire For GridView?

Jul 1, 2010

I'm using a standard GridView control inside of a web form. The web form uses a master page. The application is running within sharepoint (wss 3.0) environment. When i attach both the OnRowCommand and OnRowDatabound events to the gridview as shown in the markup below, only the OnRowDataBound event fires. The OnRowCommand never gets hit. When i press a button on a row, it posts back but never hits the onRowCommand event and simply falls through and repaints the page . However if i remove the OnRowDataBound event, the OnRowCommand event starts to fires correctly. I've tried a number of things...1. Hooking up the events in code instead of markup. (inside of PageLoad or PageInit)2. Changing the order in which the events are attached.

Web Forms :: Events With 2 Controls - Can Give A Priority At The Events

Oct 19, 2010

I have a page with 2 Controls, a ListBox and a DropDownList.

In the DropDownList you can select a PLACE.

In the ListBox you can see all DOCUMENTS for the selected PLACE.

If you select a DOCUMENT, the program does a redirect on the selected DOCUMENT.

So, there are an AutoPostBack and an Event (if you select another Item) on both Controls.

The problem is: If I select a PLACE, then I select a DOCUMENT (the pdf document is opened), and then I go back on the page and I want to select another PLACE, the program doesn't select another PLACE, but opens the old DOCUMENT, because there are 2 Events, one to change the PLACE and one to open the DOCUMENTS.

Can I give a priority at the Events?
