I have a gridview with four columns, all sortable.
I need to refresh grdiview onbutton click.So if user sorted data by column1 then on button click gridview will be refreshed without sorting (as data comes from database).
I have a Page (created using master page) it has a UserControl and i want to reload the UserControl on button click (button in page outside the UserControl). I do not want to reload entire page. I want to reload just the UserControl.ASPX:

View 5 RepliesModerators Note: THIS ISSUE IS BIG FOR ME AND EVEN IF POSSIBLE, GET THE REPLY FROM THE DESIGNER OF GRIDVIEW. I have been looking for him for long. I am really fed up with reviewing a good lot of web pages on how we can possibly customize the gridview to enable sorting and paging. So many sites have listed out a lot of information and so many guidances. But the problem is that one works out fine and the other is a burden. I really feel bad about being given the job of customizing this kind of a gridview which has no user friendly approach to it. Also, this control is rendered without the pager links inside the <tfoot> tag. I have tried the Pear Pager in php. It is that good and easy to use and compared to that, the gridview in asp.net is the worst ever control i have ever tried so far.
1. i can use the images to indicate the sorting direction
2. I can have the custom pager like

Kindly look into this type of requirement and firstly tell me whether this is possible with the gridview control. I would like this request even to be escalated to the designers of the gridview control also, so that Microsoft comes out with a reply THAT WORKS and not the kind of stuff like surfing through a lot of links and pages and finally wasting a lot of days precious time and still breaking the head with this useless control. I have spent a lot of time in searching for a perfect way. Not writing a code that is non-standard. I am really serious b'cos I have spent weeks in customizing this control. If I dont get a solid reply atleast now, I am going to generate all the output by HTML content by custom coding.

View 1 RepliesI have 2 webpage 1 is a.aspx and 2 is b.aspx on a.aspx it contain gridview data on 2paging when click on gridview data on 2paing link to b.aspx so on b.aspx have back buttom when i click on b.aspx it will be back to a.aspx but i dont want a.aspx refresh data to 1 paging. I want to click back buttom it show data on a.spx on 2paging not 1 paging.
View 2 RepliesI got a function to load a grid view and works fine. Then, I got a button, when click, I wanted to add a new row into the grid, what I did is I add a new to to the dataset and rebind the dataset to the grid view.
The problem I faced is that is it able to add a new row, but it only shows ONE column only, which is the most left column.

im now created a function where i can import excel file to be displayed in gridview and then insert the data from gridview into database.
It is running smoothly until i copied the page into another file. Suddenly, when i try to display the gridview, it does not appear.
I've try copied everything exactly the same like the original one, but still failed.
Does anyone have experience like this before?

View 6 RepliesI am developing an application using Sharepoint Designer.I need to retrieve data from a database for display on the screen.The way I am hoping to implement this is to have a Text box from which data is taken and at the click of a button passed to the procedure (which is within script tags) which calls a stored procedure passing it the value entered in the text box.The problem I've having is that the gridview is not displaying anything (i.e. other than text i entered in the EmptyText property of the gridview ("There are no records").

I have page (inheriting from master page) in which I have a dynamic Grid view (columns are not defined at design time), but gird is binded from xml at run time.
From code behind, I am adding a LinkButton into a single column in Gridview as

But when I click on the link button, it does a post back, but the Click Handler is not called? Also in the same page i have an asp:button, from javascript I am doing document.getElementByID('someid').click(), this also causes a postback but the button click handler on server is not invoked?

View 2 RepliesI have Web page that uses LinkButton control inside Template Fields of Gridview.I am trying to work on LinkButton Click event and trying to preserve the Value of LinkButton that user click, and based on that value, i want to refresh tha page data.
I used CommandName and CommandArgument property of Linkbutton, but i can use that property only in GridView_RowCommand method by checking e.CommandName expression. But the problem with that Gridview_RowCommand event fire after all other page_load activity. So the value never used in the page_load event to refresh the data in all other control.I also tried to use OnClick Method, Session variable and Hidden variable. but when i run Response.Redirect method from Gridview_RowCommand, it clear all the Session and Hidden variable values. also tried (Response.Redirect(,false)) method but never got success.

What I would like to do is allow the user to click the reset button on a particular row and 'reset' the true value to 'false' (updating the source data).
