I have a column value on a Formview and I want to change it at the last second to a programmatic value.
So I created this function to work on ItemUpdating so that the value of one of the formview fields could be changed programmatically to a constant I do a response.write value to make sure there is something in there. However, checking the database, the only getting written is null:
I'm new to ASP and I was wondering if there is a way to save the source of the web-page into a string variable or a .txt file given a website address using C# or ASP.net with C#.
I have a user control that displays a list of records. Users have the ability to open an embedded user control with a FormView to either add a new record or to edit an existing one. The UserControl with the FormView has a button that closes and hides the user control.
If the user control with the FormView is opened to edit a record, the code works fine. But if the UserControl is opened directly into Insert mode, the code craps out
Using the Interop for Excel 2003 I had a nice little link that saved or opened the repeater content as .xls. Now we are using Excel 2007 and I get file format error messages. When I click the OK button on the error pop-up Excel closes. Does anyone out there know how to convert my code to handle the .xlsx format? I've been reading up on Interop for 2007 but none of the examples seem to work for this particular simple task. Here is my code from the "Export to Excel" button click:
Protected Sub btnExport_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnExport.Click ' Send HTTP headers that specify Excel filename, MIME type, and character set Dim sTemp As String = "attachment;filename=CoverageCase" & Session("OpenCase").casekey.ToString & ".xlsx" Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", sTemp) Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" Response.Charset = "" ' Create objects used to render the controls Dim strw As New System.IO.StringWriter........
I found a thread from a couple of years ago dealing with this but there was no solution [URL]. There were a couple of tortureous work arounds but neither work for me.
I wish to add a sub to vb file that changes the display value of several asp:panels located in a Formview Item Template. My only question is what is the proper event to run this in. (databound, item created etc...) If it matters this formview appears in a Gridview Item Template.
I would like to ask if it is possible to access data on a master FormView from a nested detail FormView.
I have a main form (master) with several tabs (detail) and would like to display a label with text from main form that is hidden by the tab at the moment of editting. My asp page looks like this.
[Code]....
Is it possible to get the value of the label CompanyTextLabel from CompanyTextBox using just ASP.NET expressions or something similar without writing c# code in .cs file?
i have done a small code like if i enter some value in my text box i will pop up a new form corresponding to the value entered i will take the values from the pop up form and click on save and i am redirecting to the previous page and will click on save now i would like to save the data along with the data that is entered in the pop up form

I have a formview that use the formview iteminserted event. The information inserts into the formview fine, but all cells blank out after the insert. How can I make it so I can show all the values I have inserted show up in the formview after the inteminserted event?
how do I go about inserting into a database special characters such as the uppercase O, umlaut Ö Please understand that I have been able to insert the special character from inside MMS by putting an N in front of the value but when I run the SQL file from inside an ASP.net 4.0 page it comes up as a diamond with a question mark in it
I have a page with a FormView on it. The page is strictly for adding records to a Table. I have the FormView bound to an EntityDataSource and everything works greate except for one thing.
I want to initialize a date field in the FormView to today's date. So, in my page_load event I have:
if (!Page.IsPostBack) { //Initialize SetupDate to today. TextBox setupdate = (TextBox)fvJob.FindControl("txtSetupDate"); setupdate.Text = DateTime.Now.ToShortDateString(); }
The first time this page loads, the txtSetupDate field is initialized.
Although, and subsequent loads of the page doesn't initialize the Text Box. I step through the code in the debugger and I can see that the code is executig, but something (the FormView bind?) is "clearing" the Text Box.
I am trying to code (.net) in the autosave functionality without clogging the network. I am trying to capture data from a webpage into a file on the local drive and automate save every 5 mins. Then finally when the user hits "save" the data should be pulled from the local file to update the data base.
A variety of files (pdf, images, etc.) are stored in a ntext field on a MS SQL Server. I am not sure what type is in this field, other than it shows question marks and undefined characters, I am assuming they are binary type.
The script is supposed to iterate through the rows and extract and save these files to a temp directory. "filename" and "contenttype" are given, and "data" is whatever is in the ntext field.
[code].....
This works, but the file should be saving to the server instead of popping up save-as dialog. I am not sure if there is a way to save the response to file.
I have 1 aspx page.In that i am using Developer Express controls also. If i do some changes in that page and trying to save, only the HTML input tags are repeating 2 times.
I'm using visual web developer and MS.Access and have the following created. 1. A formview control to enter data into the database 2. A File upload control that allows users to upload files. But however i'm unable to include the file upload control in the formview control. How can i achieve this? Below is the code for the page:
I have a table with a varbinary(MAX) column. I want to use the FileUpload control to save the file directly there by a stored procedure. How do you do it without using SaveAs to create a temporary file first?
I have two buttons ... one is insert btn another one is fileupload btn.
In the fileupload btn i creat a code in blow. I can upload the file successfully.
I need to insert a file in sql by using insert btn. For that I can create a insert query every thing but I cannot access the string filename value in the insert btn. So how I get the string value for insert btn. I mentioned the insert query also.
protected void UploadButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {         string filePath = FileUploadControl.PostedFile.FileName;  string filename = Path.GetFileName(filePath);       string ext = Path.GetExtension(filename);       string contenttype = String.Empty;     Â
[Code] ....
Insert Btn:
protected void btnInsert_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {Â cmd = new SqlCommand("insert into emp(FileName,ContanType, Data)values(@FileName, @ContanType, @Data)", con);Â cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;Â cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@FileName", filename);Â Â cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ContanType", contenttype);Â Â Â Â Â Â Â cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Data",bytes); con.Open();Â cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();Â con.Close();Â Â Response.Redirect("Default.aspx");Â }Â }
